Milford Leon Hesslen, 56, of Nowata died Tuesday November 21, 2000 at the Osage Nursing Home in Nowata. Leon's funeral services were held Friday, November 24 at Trinity Full
Gospel Church in Nowata with the Reverend Paul
Campbell officiating. Interment followed at Nowata Memorial
Park Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral
Service in Nowata.
Leon was born in Nowata on September 19, 1944 to
Milford Leroy and Anna Marie
Fields Hesslen. He grew up in Nowata and received his education in the Nowata
Schools. He served with the
Navy during the Vietnam War. Leon lived most of his life in Nowata except for his military service and a short time at
Joplin,
Missouri.
Leon married Barbara
Paulseen on May 31, 1983 at Miami. He was a self employed mechanic who enjoyed remote control airplanes, woodworking and fishing. Mr. Hesslen was a very dedicated member of the Nowata Group for
AA for four years. He was a member of the Trinity Full
Gospel Church in Nowata.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hesslen of the home; three daughters: LeaAnn
Walls of Lenapah; Tina Hesslen of Vinita and Alana
Kincaid of Mountain View, Missouri; his mother: Marie Hesslen of Nowata; a brother: Jerry Hesslen of Nowata and a sister: Claudell
Peck of Tulsa; three grandchildren; Michael Bruce
Ryley, Zachary
Kincaid and
Thurston Walls.
Mr. Hesslen was preceded in death by his father
Milford L. Hesslen and a sister, Linda
Hicks.
