Hutchins and Sons Funeral Home in Davis Oklahoma?

Hi my name is Jan and I am searching for my Uncle John Thomas Wigley's burial place. I have his death certificate and it says he was taken to Hutchins and Son's Funeral Home but no Cemetery name. He died Aug 20, 1941. I have an article about his accident but it doesn't give the name of Cemetery. I was told to try to contact the Funeral Home.
Is this Funeral Home still in business?
If anyone could help me with the address of the funeral home or if they happen to know where John Thomas Wigley is buried...I would appreciate the help. I am in California.
Thank you
Jan Wigley Beckham
JanWigley51@aol.com
Tarlton and Sarah [Brown] Bull

howdy --

I am interested in the descendants of tarlton Bull and Sarah Brown (his 2nd wife). They married in Denton Co., Tx after 1880 sometime. After getting married they moved to Eastland Cunty, Texas vor a couple of decates retiring to Murray County, Oklahoma in their latter years.

1920 census Murray Co, Ok

Tarlton Bull, 74 Wisc
Sarah A. Bull 71 Ark
Hattie R., daughter, 34 Tx

Don't know about 1910.

Eastland Co, Tx 1900

Bull, T D 55 Wisc
Sarah A. 44 Ark
Hattie N 17 Tx
Alta D 14 Tx
Robert H 11 Tx
Johnnie J 9 Tx

Years are off but it is the same family. Tarlton applied for a Civil War pension in Eastland Co., Texas which rejected him, but later applied for a Civil War pension in Oklahoma and Oklahoma which him. Texas didn't reject him because he was ot telling the truth, but rather because he appeared to be in good health to them. He had a doctor tho, who witnessed for him, that said he was in bad health. Recods say he was in fought in battles in Texas, Arkansas, and Indian Territory, including Honey Springs and Big Cabin.

Did these Bull's leave any family in Murray County? I ask because Sarah Ann [Brown] Bull (1855 or 1856 - ?) was my great grandma's (Josephine [Brown] Richey 1854, Lawrence Co., Ar-1932 Tillman Co., Ok) next younger sister.

Dad said when he was young he met Tarlton and that he was "a great big man, nearly 7 feet tall." Well I saw Tarlton's Civil War pension application and it said he was 5' 10" tall! :). . . since dad was just a child when he met his great Uncle, well I guess our memories exagerate sometimes.

I live in Altus, Jackson Co., Ok. If any of their family is still in Murray County or nearby, I'd like to hear from them.

Vance Hawkins
vhawkins1952@msn.com

Hello All;
Several years ago, Ancestry.com bought Rootsweb.com. The Murray County website has always been on Rootsweb.com. At that time, we who are in the genealogy field, knew that it was just a matter of time before Rootsweb.com would be sucked into Ancestry.com.

It has now happened. Ancestry.com is the Killer Whale of the field. They charge for everything. We at OkGenWeb thought it was time to get out of the Rootsweb circle.

We County Coordinators have donated thousands of hours and dollars of our money and time to present freely to you, the genealogy researchers the pages you see. Now it is apparent that Ancestry.com is going to start charging for our hours of research and time.

This charging for research may take effect in 1 year or 5 years, but, it WILL happen. Most of the States have pulled out of Rootsweb.com along with Oklahoma.

We want you to have the information that we have collected and submitted as freely as we & you submitted it.

I am writing this letter to explain. Within the next few weeks, the Murray County Page on Rootsweb.com will be pulled. When you log on to the old MurrayCounty page you will get a re-direct page.

The new website will be http://www.okgenweb.org/~okmurray Please bookmark this new website. I will not announce when this will be done. You are now warned!

Okgenweb.org will have their own domain where there will never be the chance of it ever being a pay site. I have spent many hours trying to get the links in the new site working. If you have a problem, let me know.

Thanks you,
Dennis Muncrief
Host - Murray County, Oklahoma Website

I am looking for descendants of John Abraham Rogers who is buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Murray County. His wife, Jossie, is also buried there. I believe that the Ernest Rogers and Eva E. Brown who are buried in Green Hill are his son and daughter. He had another son, Marvin Andrew Rogers, whose SS information indicates he died in Davis, Murray County, but I did not find his burial place.

John Abraham Rogers' father, William Andrew Rogers, was a son of my great grandfather, Andrew Jackson Rogers. If you know of descendants of the above Rogers family members I would be interested in hearing from them either through my e-mail address or via a post on this message board.

Mary

I am looking for information about 7-10 graves on the old Turner Ranch in Murray County, west of the ranchhouse. One of these was my great-grandmother, Melvina McAnally Sparks,a mid-wife who burned to death shortly after delivering twins that later died. She is buried next to the twin babies. The year was about 1895. There may be bois d'arc posts at the foot of each grave and climbing yellow roses. Can anyone help?

March 14, 1922 - February 1,2007

Mass was celebrated for Fred. L. Mosley on February 6, 2007 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sulphur, Oklahoma. He passed away at his home in Roff on February 1, 2007. Officiating was Father Rusty Hewes.

Born March 14, 1922 to James G. and Cinda Mosley in Flat Lick, Kentucky, Fred was the youngest of their three sons. Three brothers and a sister would join the family after Cinda's death and the re-marriage of James to his second wife Mildred who was a loving stepmother.

Fred was a decorated soldier who served in the United States Army 37th Infantry Division. He spent more than two years in the Northern Solomon Islands as an antitank gunner. Among his medals - the Bronze Star.

In 1951 Fred met a beautiful young woman. He was captivated by the scent of Tabu perfume and her glistening auburn hair. He would nickname her "Red" and on June 27, 1952, Fred married his lovely sweetheart, Mary Ann and her two little girls, Cee Cee and Terri, in Angola, Indiana. The couple later had a son, Michael, making their family complete.

In 1958, Fred moved his family from Burton Lake, Ohio to San Diego, California where he worked as an aerospace milling machinist until his retirement in 1984. He then moved with his wife to Roff, Oklahoma.

Fred loved the outdoors and taught his children the value, beauty and joy of nature. Memories of weekend camping trips and family vacations are treasured by them to this day. Fred was a talented woodworker and for many years also enjoyed collecting coins. He was a tireless worker often creating work when there was really none to be done. When bad weather kept him indoors, Fred enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.

Fred attended Mass regularly for many years and was a willing volunteer at St. Francis. His impish smile and friendly manner will be missed there each Sunday.

Fred and Mary Ann were devoted to one another for more than 55 years; each always putting the wants and needs of the other ahead of their own.
