Services for former funeral director Cecil L. Bahner were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10 at the First Methodist Church in
Davis with Rev. Wayne
Loftin officiating assisted by Rev. Jim
Lovett. Interment was in
Greenhill Cemetery in
Davis with
Pickard Funeral Home of
Stratford in charge of arrangements.
Born May 7, 1913 in
Moore to Hela and Albert C. Bahner, he died Wednesday, Feb. 7 at the
Oklahoma Veterans Home in Norman. He was 93.
Mr. Bahner married Jane
McReynolds at Norman on August 19, 1944.
A funeral director and embalmer, he had owned the
Bahner Funeral
Homes in
Sulphur and
Davis. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army Medical
Corps, rising to the rank of sergeant upon discharge.
A resident of
Davis for 54 years, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in
Davis, was past president of the
Davis Kiwanis Club, past president of the
Sulphur Rotary Club, was a 32nd Degree
Mason and was a member of the Eastern Star. He became a Christian at the age of 14.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Jane, in 1989; one son, Mike; his parents; one brother and one sister.
Surviving are one son, Richard (Rick)
Bahner and his wife, Carol, Norman; one sister, Catherine Burke,
Oklahoma City and a best friend, Betty
Birch, Davis; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandchildren. Honorary bearers were Jack
Penner,
Dee Lannom,
Butch Hill, D.O. Salter and Joe
Pirkle.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the
Davis First United Methodist Church.
