Death of ASH BAXTER
MRS. FRED HEIPLE received news of the death of her brother, ASH BAXTER, aged 62, who died Monday at the home of his son at Tulsa. He body was taken to Lexington for burial yesterday in which city he had lived for many years. He farmed near Lexington for awhile, alter was in the mercantile business there, quitting when his health demanded it. Mr. Baxter was an early day citizen of Davis and was engaged in farming. He left here about 30 years ago. He had been in failing health for four or five years. His wife and six children survive.
Kiwanis Officers
R. V. GARRETT was chosen as president of the Davis Kiwanis club at luncheon yesterday when the annual election took place. He will succeed HERBERT GARRETT who was elected district trustee. Other officers elected: PAGE WILLIS, vice pres., ALFRED HUTCHINS, treas., Directors, SAM P. ADES, FAY L. CROSSETT, JACK GARRISON, G. L. MILNER, KEY WOLF, J. C. KELLY, and L. H. GREER.
Married
MISS FERVILLE WILLIAMS and G. H. WINN motored to Springer and were married Thanksgiving day. They were accompanied by MISS ADEBELLE ANDERSON and MISS MARGARET MONTGOMERY. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. JACK ANDERSON of the Colbert community. The groom work for the Natural Gas Co. at Clemscot. They have gone there to make their home.

Candy Breaking
Last Friday afternoon from 3 to 5, MRS. BEARDEN gave her Junior B.Y.P.U. a big Thanksgiving party in her home. The president, MISS LOUISE BEARDEN, had the games nicely arranged. The first game was Feather, then Loading the Mayflower, third, KORN KOUNT, fourth, Thanksgiving Dinner. Our leader then took the group captain books No. 1 and No. 2 and matched names and called to draw stick candy to match. We also practiced B. Y. P. U. yells. After all were served, members assembled around the piano and sang Thanksgiving songs, our farewell song, Onward Fellow Juniors. Those present were: HAROLD HENDRICKS, ARDELIA JORDAN, MARTIN GAMBLE, REBECCA LILES, JOHN JORDAN, LUCILLE RIDDLE, ETHEL LILES, MARY HELEN RIDDLE, ELIZABETH BEARDEN, LOUISE BEARDEN, EDWARD GAMBLE, DOROTHY ROPER, NENETTE DEPUTY, GERTRUDE DICKSON, and KATHERINE CUNNINGTUBBY.

Mr. and Mrs. W. I. MEYER spent the weekend in Oklahoma City visiting their son, W. A. MEYER and son.
CARL JOHNSON of Skiatook spent the weekend with HARDIN MCADOO. They were former roommates at O.U.
MISS PAULINE EDWARD and MRS. E. R. MOGG spent the weekend in Pauls Valley, visiting the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. EDWARDS.
R. J. THOMAS, 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. ROBERT THOMAS, who live on the RUSSELL place five miles southwest of Davis, died Tuesday evening at 7:30 in the Hardy sanitarium at Ardmore where he was taken in the day for an operation for an abscess on the lungs. He died shortly thereafter. The funeral was held at the Methodist church yesterday afternoon at 2:30, followed by burial in Green Hill cemetery. He attended Davis school and was well liked by his classmates, who attended the funeral in a body.
Mr. and Mrs. AUSTIN A. AVRIT left Monday for their home at Berkeley, California after several days visiting with old time friends in this section. They lived in Sorghum Flat a number of years ago.
MISS FLORENCE LACHER of Sapulpa was here a couple of days ago visiting MRS. WYATT CHIGLEY. She was enroute to Maywood, California to visit her sister, MRS. HENRY SATTERFIELD.

MRS. JEORALDENA LEE of Ada is a visitor at the home of her aunt, MRS. T. M. GREER.
MISS IRMA WRIGHT, student in a business college at Oklahoma City, is home for the holidays.
MISS WAHNETA CHIGLEY, teacher at the Deaf School at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is home for the Christmas vacation.
Mr. and Mrs. GARLAND DODSON of Fort Worth are spending the holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B OUTLER.
Mr. and Mrs. D. A. WILLIS left Friday for Shreveport, Louisiana to spend the holidays with their daughter, MRS. J. V MCVEETY.
MISS VERA RAINES of Springfield, Missouri is spending the holidays with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. PETTY and friends.
The tent in which C. KRIMNITZ lived on the B. B. WRIGHT place, caught fire and burned last Thursday, the fire also consumed his bedding, clothing, and other things in the tent. Mr. Krimnitz was in the tent when it caught fire bit but was unable to save it. The fire was caused by a tent flat dropping down over the flue.
Davis friends have been notified of the death of CHARLES B. MCDONALD, who was a citizen of Davis many years ago. He was killed last Friday in an auto accident near Fort Worth. Mr. McDonald resided in Palo Pinto, Texas and is survived by a wife.
