Davis Votes Bonds to Buy Turner Falls Property
Morning Party
On Friday, April 24, complimentary of MRS. E. L. TORRANCE and MRS. CAMILLE MCFARLAND of Waco, Texas, MRS. R. O. RICHARDSON and MRS. R. L. TALLEY entertained at a morning party and luncheon at the handsome new home of the latter. At the conclusion of the games, little MISS HELEN TORRANCE of Waco gave two pretty solo dances which were greatly enjoyed by all present. Favors at 42 were presented to MISS OLIVE ELLIS and MRS. JOE CHAPMAN. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostesses assisted by MRS. T. H. SLOVER and MRS. R. C. KAY. The out-of-town guests were MRS. R. A. MCGRADY of Waco, Texas, MRS. LOYD WEBER of Krum, Texas, MRS. LINDSAY of Pauls Valley, MRS. HARDEN KELLY of Kansas City, Missouri, MRS. T. H. GEORGE and the MISSES BALLENGER of Sulphur. Other guests were MESDAMES T. W. FRAME, J. REV. T. H. CARDEN has been called to the pastorate of the Baptist Church at Walters…. He has been here two years and the church has prospered under his leadership. About 125 new members have been added…

A large diamond rattlesnake, measuring 4 feet 11 inches, was captured alive by JAMES PEARSON about ¼ miles east of town.
Mr. and Mrs. ALTON HOLMES of Wilson visited Dr. and Mrs. E. L. MORTON.
JOHN E. HENDERSON, member of the National Guard, left for Fort Sill where he will be in training for some time.
Mr. and Mrs. C. R. RUSSELL of the Russell community were business visitors here.
Drilling continues with the bit at 2750 feet in blue shale in GROOMS et al No. 1 Luster in the northeast of northeast quarter of section 19-1s-2w near Tatum in Carter county.
Miss JESSIE MCNEIL returned from visiting relatives at Duncan.
Mr. and Mrs. GILES SOWELL left for a visit with relatives in Texas.
The garage and touring car belonging to THOMAS SAM was destroyed by fire about 12:-- on the night of July 26. Origin of the fire is unknown.
VERNON CHRONISTER of Wynnewood was a visitor here Saturday and Sunday.
REV. CALVIN MORRIS and children of Temple, accompanied by his brother, REV. OTIS MORRIS and children of Walters, passed through enroute to Turner Falls for an outing. They returned and visited with their brother, NOAH MORRIS.
CURTIS SMITH and family of Chickasha visited relatives here.
MRS. JOSIE HERRON of West Texas is here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. DIGBY.
Mrs. MATT RUSSELL of the Russell community is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. OWEN.
RICHARD L. MORTON has carpenters at work doing quite a bit of remodeling on his home located about two miles south of town.
LOYD W. KING is at work getting the gin in shape for the cotton crop which at present looks very promising.
Professor and Mrs. WRAYMOND PATTERSON are the proud parents of a daughter born last week.

OSCAR L. SMITH has purchased the stock of goods and leased the building at Consolidated School No. 1 located between Davis and Wynnewood. It is a good stand for an inland o and Mr. Smith no doubt will do a good business there.
Preparing for Murray County Fair Aug. 27-28-29 at Sulphur
MRS. J. F. FLOYD, who has charge of Domestic Arts Department, assures us that this will be the most attractive department… MRS. L. H. GREER of Davis who is Superintendent for the Domestic Arts Department, had one of the most attractive exhibits in her division last year…MISS BEULAH CLARK, county superintendent of schools, has charge of the Boys and Girls Club Work, also the Educational Department and is making arrangements for a real show by these departments… The farm crops and horticultural departments headed by E. J. WEBB and B. B. WRIGHT are expected to furnish a wonderful example of the efficiency and diversity of Murray County farmers and farms…. Scores of riders, ropers, and bulldoggers will be held in connection with the fair. FLOYD GALE of Okmulgee, winner of the Dewey contest this year, will be here with Old Buck, his roping horse, and HAYDEN RUCKER of the place is expected t make a try to lower his record of 17 seconds for steer tying. DAVE MCCLURE of Britten, one of the old timers, will be here with his horse, Bear. FRED LOWERY and FRED BEESON of Arkansas City, tow of the boys who roped in the biggest rodeos in America and Europe, are expected as are RED CARTER and a number of the cowhands of the Osage.

The bride of the week is MRS. NOBLE SHELTON, who was MISS VALLIE FINDLEY before her marriage August 8 which took place at the Presbyterian manor in Davis, Dr. Barrington officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Shelton are at home temporarily with her mother Mrs. T. J. FINDLEY. Both the bride and bridegroom are popular young folks of this community.
A five year child fell from a moving wagon near the Chandler store Saturday afternoon and sustained serious injuries.
W. G. CHAPMAN Dies
J. G. CHAPMAN of this city was notified by wire today of the death of his brother, W. G. CHAPMAN, who died suddenly at Fort Worth. Mr. Chapman had made his home there for many years. Fifteen or more years ago, he lived in Davis and at one time was city marshal here. He had been in poor health for some time. He was 56 years old and is survived by a wife. J. G. will go to Fort Worth to be present at his brother’s funeral.
The First Bale
The first bale of this season’s cotton was brought in yesterday by TOM HARMON who lives 2 ½ miles north of Davis on the DR. HALE place. The bale was ginned at the T. H. SLOVER gin this morning and weighed 480 pounds.
SHIRLEY Buys Davis Gin
TOM SHIRLEY of Wynnewood has purchased an interest in the Davis Gin here. This gin was owned by the Cotton Gin Co. of Chickasha and has been run for several years by J. W. WALLIS. Mr. Wallis has been offered management of another gin by this company but hasn’t decided whether to accept as he doesn’t wish to move from Davis.

Family Reunion
The home of Mr. and Mrs. D. F. ELLIS was the scene of a very happy reunion Saturday and Sunday. The honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. J. W. WILLIAMS of O’Fallon, Missouri, parents of MRS. ELLIS and MRS. BOLLING. The unusual fact was that there were four generations present at the reunion. Much time spent in reminiscence and picture taking. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
