Sandy, thank you for the info. I will be looking into it. Pauletta's parents were William T. & Luda (Poole) Wilson. Her siblings were Burl Wilson and Leola Wilson. I believe she may have been married to a Fred J Tindell in 1939. I found Pauletta, her parents and siblings on the 1920 Census. On the 1930, all I found was Leola who was living in a girl's home in Chillicothe, MO.

You might want to contact the Court Clerk there to see about getting copies of pertinent paperwork indicating relatives whom you might contact.

Court Clerk info at URL:

http://www.oscn.net/applications/oscn/start.asp?viewType=COU...

Mayes County Court Case No. P-97-00002
IN THE MATTER OF WILSON, PAULETTA
Date Case Filed: 01/13/1997

Or contact the reference librarian at the Pryor Library for a possible obit. (Not everyone has obits, but may have death notices.)

Pryor Library
506 E Graham
Pryor OK
Phone: 918-825-0777

And have you looked through the many links at the Mayes County genealogy site?

http://www.okgenweb.org/~okmayes/

It would be helpful to in your post if you gave a little bit more info. Such as the parents' names and siblings or spouse of the WILSON you are looking for. And list your grandmother's names, for example. Someone may recognize the names. These posts are archived and you might meet a "cousin" years from now who might do a keyword search for your same people on these message boards.

Good luck,

Sandy

Hello, my name is Audrey Gail Jones. Hoolie married my mother Audrey L. McCorkle in 1964 and adopted me, but not sure what year probably in 1966. We lived in Coffeyville, KS, until his death that same year. However, he had two maternal sons, Ben and Frank Jones, but I don't know where they are now. My mother had written some information in my bible which had a family tree when I was young. She had listed Hoolie as my father, I didn't know that he wasn't maternal father until I was 11 years old. I don't have the bible with me now as we moved to Louisiana in April and a lot of my things are in storage. However, we are going back to Missouri in December and I will find the bible and see if I can help you.

My Husband's Aunt wrote this article for the Mayes Co. Historical Highlights book in 1977. Tonight we had the opportunity to go through some old documents retrieved from her father's house and there was a deed or doc. of Hoolie's with them. Here is a portion of the article and the information that will help if you have not read of it before:

1977 PRYOR OKLAHOMA

HISTORICAL HIGHLIGHTS OF MAYES CO.

Jones, Burris and Annabelle

My parents, Burris and Annabelle Jones, have lived in Mayes County all of their lives. During the Depression Years my father traveled quite a bit to find jobs to earn extra money to keep the family going. So during theses years he spent some time in other states: following the wheat harvest, working in the potato fields of Idaho, helping build a dam near Charleston, South Carolina and doing construction work in various places.
Burris grandfather, Mack Jones, came from Georgia to Mayes County. He left Georgia after the Civil War and came to Van Buren, Arkansas. From there they moved to Flint Creek near Stillwell, Oklahoma. They then moved to Mayes County west of Pryor, Oklahoma in 1901.
Ben Lee Jones, father of Burris, was born in Union, Georgia, August 5, 1872. He came with his father, Mack, to Arkansas and then to Oklahoma. Besides Ben, there were five other boys: Jim, Tom, George, Joe, and Will Jones. There were four girls in the family: Martha, Kate, Viney, and Laura Jones.
Ben Lee Jones married Ada Bernice Chitwood about 1903 in Mayes County. Ada’s parents were John and Almeda (Corn) Chitwood. Ada was born in Randolph County, Missouri, August 19, 1884. She had come to Mayes County to teach school at Teague. After their marriage they lived west of Pryor and she taught school at Teague.
Ben and Ada were the parents of Glenn D., Ross Kermit, Hoolie Nevill, Evelyn, Burris Lee, Gay, Mack Russell, and Billy Jones.
Submitted by Nina Lee Jones Cagle

Jones died in 1929.
Ada remarries to Wm. H. Hancock May 12, 1931. She married again Jan. 14, 1935 A.E. Young. In 1939 on Dec. 27th Ada was paid from the estate of Almeda K. Clark. Kelly & Tatum Attornies from Pineville Mo.
Original copies of marriage licenses of these two marriages are part of the Jones Documents found .

To the best of my remembrance, Red Headed Will was one of the Cherokee chiefs in the early 1800s of the people in the northeast part of Alabama. One of his sisters was supposed to have married into the Brock family. Our Sinard (various spellings) family and the Brocks lived in the area of Little Will's Valley after having moved there from NC. I don't know exactly how Little Will was related to Red-headed Will. I do remember studying about them in history books trying to find out more about them and I found out that they were white folks married into the Cherokees, I guess, and I even found out a surname, although I can't remember what it was at this time.
I don't know if any of this helps you or not, but a bunch of those people did come to Cherokee Nation West, some staying over the line into Arkansas and some on to Oklahoma, Cherokee Nation.

I'm looking for information on a Georgia Ann (born 1923 may be in Ky.)(Mayes) She married George M. Sargent. They had two sons Gary Lee (1946) and Larry James (1947) in Ohio. Both boys were adopted out in 1951-52 (they stayed together). The adoption took place in Missouri. If anyone knows any information on Georgia or George could you please email me. George moved around and was thought to work with the railroad...but not sure. They had other children but not sure how many. Georgia was said to have some kind of "breakdown" while living in Missouri. Thanks!

The only cemetery in Pryor that I am aware of is the
one called Fairview, but now has another name. It is
east of Pryor. I think they did move graves to build the
old Highway 20 road as it does split the cemetery.

My cousin's grandfather was a John Price, and he is
buried there. I recall seeing at least one other
Price tombstone, but I don't remember the name.
The Mayes County Genealogy Society worked to
put all the cemetery information on CDs, but I don't
know if this project is complete.
You might ask this list server for the phone number
for the Pryor Library to help you get in touch with
the Genealogy group--one of the librarians belongs
to it.

Dorothy Welsh

I'm looking for information on Blondie Sanders and his wife, Mildred. The only thing I can find on them is that they were living in Bryan, Mayes County when the 1930 Census was taken. It seems his father, Jesse Danders, and his wife, Birtie G. were also living in Bryan at the same time. I've reached a WALL with them as well. Does anyone know what happened to these folks after 1930? Did the pass away in Bryan? Were any children born to Blondie and Mildred? Are they buried there in a cemetery? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Bryan Township is primarily farmland around the town of Locust Grove, Mayes, OK I suggest you look at the interments in the Hogan Cemetery about three miles west of Locust Grove, OK.

Go to www.findagrave.com and use the Cemetery Lookup button and go from there. This free site is easy to use. I think you will find some of your Sanders family buried there.

John Martin STONE

Finding John Martin Stone

“Whatever happened to Emma Jane?” That question has perplexed the Sullivan family historians for decades. This past August of 2005 they learned that the answer had begun to materialize eight years earlier in three towns that are three hours distant from each other. Those towns being Chouteau, Oklahoma, Harrison, Arkansas and Fort Smith, Arkansas.

In those towns, a carpenter named John Martin Stone had lived and died, and was laid to rest. Mr. Stone was born just before the New Year of 1898. He was born in Blanchard, Illinois, the town of Emma Jane’s family. He, in fact, was her son -- probably the only son that she and her husband ever had. Then, just before the New Year of 1997, he died in Harrison, only a few months shy of being one hundred years old. Those who have sought so fervently for information regarding John’s mother and her descendants lost out an excellent opportunity by only a small number of years. What they would do if only they could go meet the man and get to know him.

Mr. Stone was supposed to have been married, according to his death records, and this could indicate that he might have had children, grandchildren, and possibly great grandchildren. It is the intent of this article to send an invitation to any of those possible descendants to make contact with the rest of John’s maternal family who have sought them out for such a long time. Over one hundred years have gone by since the apparent disappearance of Emma Jane and her family. Now that her son’s location has finally been identified, the rest of the family is eager to get to know this missing branch.

All that has been known of him, before now, is that his mother was not listed on the census for 1900. Instead, Mr. Stone was shown as living with his father, Pinckney, and his paternal grandmother, Cassander. It is assumed that his mother, Emma Jane, must have died. Then on the 1910 census, John’s father and grandmother were also not listed indicating that they, too, probably died. John Martin Stone lost his immediate family as a youngster, and he was raised without ever getting to know them well -- or so it appears.

However, this does not necessarily mean that he was abandoned. Further research goes on to show that in 1910 he was living with his cousin (a descendant of the Stone line), Jasper N. Maynor. Mr. Maynor was an extremely prominent man in his home community of Eddyville, Illinois. Therefore, we would like to assume that John was well loved and cared for. Unfortunately, that is the last time that we could ever find him until his obituary from 1997 was discovered in Chouteau. He died in Harrison, and he was buried in Fort Smith. Yet, no mention was made of any surviving family or friends.

What happened to John between 1910 and 1997? Was he a war hero? Did he have children who revolutionized their specific industries? Did he or his descendants touch people and turn their lives around to become better people? We do not know the answer to these questions, but we would certainly like to.

Emma Jane had two brothers by her parents Isaac and Rachel Sullivan. Their names were Joe and Tobe. Some of Tobe’s recently got together with some of Joe’s descendants to begin discovering who all the family is for ancestral research and for family reunions and general family bonding. The closer they have gotten together, the more they have felt the emptiness of not being able to locate the third branch of the family, now represented by John Martin Stone’s descendants.

Just this past summer, some of both Joe’s and Tobe’s descendants got together for an awesome family reunion. Included in the activities was a pilgrimage to locate the grave of our common matriarch, Rachel C. Sullivan, John’s grandmother on his mother’s side of the family. It was such an incredibly rewarding experience for all involved to stand next to that grave. Yet, there was a bit of sadness felt because Emma Jane and her descendants were still missing and did not have the joy of sharing in the momentous occasion.

Nevertheless, there will be more researching, more getting together, and more all-out fun yet to come. From here on out, though, we would like to be able to include the third branch of our family.

So if you are a relative of John Martin Stone’s, one of his descendants, or even somebody who knew him or only knew “of” him, then a plea and an invitation is directed to you.

The Sullivans have set up an e-mail address for the express purpose of contacting you and possibly learning anything that you may know about Mr. Stone and his family. Be assured that we will share everything that we know as well. If you do not have e-mail access, we hope that you know somebody who does that can contact us on your behalf.

We really want to talk to you and even meet you. So please accept our invitation and contact us at the following e-mail address: findingJohnMartinStone@yahoo.com.

John Martin Stone
AKA: John Stone
Born: 19 Dec 1897 - Blanchard, Pope Co, IL
Died: 20 Sep 1997 - Harrison Nursing Center, Harrison, Boone Co, AR
Buried: 23 Sep 1997 - Woodlawn Park Cemetery, Fort Smith, Sebastian Co, AR
Father: Marion Pinckney Stone
AKA: Pinckney Stone
Born: Apr 1878 – Eddyville, Pope Co, IL
Father: William Albert Stone (1832-1888)
Mother: Cassander Belcher (1839- ? )

Mother: Emma Jane Sullivan
AKA: Emma Sullivan
Born: 1876 - Elizabethtown, Hardin Co, IL
Father: Isaac Sullivan (1811-1880)
Mother: Rachel Catherine Tolley (1839-1887)
Marriage: 9 Jan 1897 - Blanchard, Pope Co, IL

Married by John S. Johnson, J.P.
Witnesses were Nathan Stone (Pinckney’s brother) and Joseph Lee Sullivan (Emma’s brother).
Consent was given by Cassander Stone (Pinckney’s Mother).
This information should be found in Pope Co.
