Services for Marie Holder, 95, of Marietta, were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 17, in the Marietta Church of Christ, Marietta, with Bro. Travis Huffman officiating. Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born September 29, 1914 in Marietta, the daughter of James A. and Emma Ellen Baxter Hubbard, she died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.

Mrs. Holder had been a resident of Love County all of her life and attended Love County schools. She and Walter Daniel Holder were married in Marietta on October 6, 1931, and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1970. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Holder also worked in several local restaurants. She also had a great reputation for cooking for community activities, as well as funeral dinners for families. She did volunteer work with the local senior citizens organizations for 10 years, plus five years with Green Thumb. Her hobbies included quilting and cooking. A member of the Marietta Church of Christ, she was very involved with her church family.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Albert “Bud” and Faye Holder of Marietta, Charles and Maxie Holder of Ardmore, and Kenneth and Diana Holder of Denison, Texas; two daughters and son-in-law, Alice Dure’ of Ardmore and Sue and Richard Allen of Overbrook; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cloeta Imogene Holder on September 22, 1932; three sisters and six brothers.

Pallbearers were Chadwick Allen, Kenneth Wayne Holder, Chuck Holder, Noah Patty, Joshua Weems and Rocky Patty. Honorary bearers were Dr. Tom O’Connor, Rick Brannan, Frank Mitchell, Alvin Freeman, Merle Flanagan, Dorothy Clifton and the staff of Lake Country Nursing Center.
