Did you ever locate your birth mother? You could look at yearbooks in Talequah where they list where students are from. Perhaps she was from Wilburton attending Talequah. If seh was a student at Wilburton college, it is only a 2 yrs. college so she could not be a senior,

Mollie was the 2nd wife of Orin Clayborn. Vina Mowrey (unsure of spelling) was his first wife. Orin and Vina had two children who were Aubrey and Monta. Orin and Vina were my great grandparents. Vina died sometime between 1910 where they are found in the Waldron co., Grady Oklahoma 1910 census with the children living in the home of a Oliver Vance (I believe). I have been searching for a long time for information about Vina and her family. I have a photo of her with her brother Monroe and father Jeff...no mother pictured. I can probably tell you more about Mollie and Orin. Orin's father was Benjamin B. Clayborn and mother was Lurinda Samantha (Smoot) Clayborn. They also had children together.
Long Lost Freeman Family from Talihina and surrounding areas

I am looking for any information regarding the following siblings: Catherine Eileen Freeman born October 26, 1934 (currently 74 years old); Virginia Dean Freeman born December 23, 1936 (currently 72 years old); Wanda Lou Freeman born October 23, 1938 (currently 70 years old); and Janett Sou Freeman born January 15, 1945 (currently 64 years old). I may be incorrect on the birth years but this is the only dates I have that were pasted down from family members. Their parents are Hugh (Howard) and Ruby Freeman. They were born in the Talihina, Latimer, Oklahoma area and are believed to be still in that area but are not sure. I do know that Hugh in 1956 had a very bad car accident in AFTON, Oklahoma man who was badly injured when his car overturned near Fairland Saturday was described as very critical at t he Johnson Hospital here today. Hugh Howard Freeman, 55, suffered internal chest and abdominal injuries, ruptured bladder and pelvis, fractures of both shoulders and a possible skull fracture. Freeman has been hospitalized since shortly after a car he was driving overturned on Highway 60, one-half mile west of Fairland, Saturday night. He was travelling alone….Hugh died February 24, 1981…I do not know anything else about this family but would very much like to get in touch with any living relatives…please email me at carri137@gmail.com Thank you for all your help…

I remember when I was young we would go visit them. I remember turning north in Hartshorne and going several miles north, passing a school on the left, which I believe is Lone Oak. They lived a little farther north and then back east down a dead end road.

Any information on them or their children would be appreciated.
UPDATE: Eppsie or Epsie Clarence Richards, but went by Clarence. Family found in Yalobusha Co., MS, (next to Calhoun Co.)proven to be my grandfather, had a lot of help from 2 researchers in that Co. This is the family tree briefly: Eppsie Clarence Richards born in 1884/5 to Mat Richards b 17 Jul 1858 Yalobusha Co. d 6 Feb 1921 Panola Co., MS Bur at Sylva Rena Cem., Yalobusha Co., MS. married Harriet (Hattie) Sanders on 6 Oct 1880 Yal. Co. (b 1857 Carrollton, Pickens Co., AL d 1892 Yal Co.) daur of Lewis Meriweather Sanders and Mary M nee?. Mat was son of Matthew Martin Richards b 1808 SC, d 7 May 1871 Water Valley, Yal. Co., MS. and Tolitha Kesiah Jane Boydston b 1829 McNairy TN, d 16 May 1893 Yal Co., MS. daur of John Pruitt Boydston and Eliz. Jane Wilson. Matthew Martin Richards is said to be son of a Robert Richards and Moranza Montgomery but seems to be more family lore than fact although there was a Robert who purchased land early 1837, etc. as follows: Deed Bk C/255 Allen Gillaspie to Robert Richards for $522 North half of the East half of the NW quarter of Section 12 of Twp. 22, Range 4 East totaling 40 acres.
and-
Deed Bk C/256 Date: 6 Oct 1837. Clerk of Probate Court, D.M. Raybourn, had AJ McNeal and John S Topp witnessed that they saw Allen Gillaspie sign seal and deliver the within deed to Robert Richards. The seller and others turned out to be a frauds and Robert he lost his investment. As for the Moranza, only the following was found with this surname: Census 1840 Yalobusha Co., MS Pg 279 and 301
Robert Montgomery
MALES 20-30=1
FEMALES 20-30=1
JAMES Montgomery
MALES 50-60=1
FEMALES 20-30=1; 50-60=1

Robert and Moranza were said to be from New Orleans. Mathew and his children always gave SC as place of birth.

For other mgs, all children and Source details contact me at new email: taylorjm1@att.net
Jan Taylor

Thank you for the information. I just sent an email to see how to order it.

I think I saw on the census that Nancy had 12 children. I have found 8 of them. Do you have the names of the other 4 or are they on the CD? I have Mary Elizabeth (married Lwrence Wright), Elisha (married Susan Windham), Rutha Jane (married Joseph Young), Suzanne (married Larkin Russell), John Thomas (married Nancy Leird - 2nd wife), Cordelia (married James Morris), Lottie (married Virgil Park), and Daniel (married Mattie Swafford).

I have had to start and stop my research several times and am now trying to get back once again. I look forward to visiting with you more.

My great grandfather was John Thomas Upton. My grandfather was the oldest son from his 2nd marriage. You are related to Cordelia? I was in Red Oak this Saturday and finally found the grave locations for Cordelia, Jesse and Lottie. I knew they were there but had not ever found them. I was very excited.

what an excitement ! you visited with Rutha Jane's son ?
oh, how I wish I could see pics of the little sister of Rutha, who was Cordelia, my g-gr grandmother.

I do have Jesse's and Nancy's pension files, and yes her death to stop the pension, but it was handled by George, I think. I will need to look again. I just don't have pics of Cordelia, or her marriage documents to James Morris. I have other data, and her death, etc., in Red Oak, OK.

I was able to help clarify some records to the Upton CD maker, Pat Hill. I will send his addy too.

So where are we connected, Patty?

You probably already have received the information, but all I have on Lottie is that she was born July 7, 1879 and died February 21, 1879. I believe she was born in Missouri, but not positive. She and Virgil were married on January 23, 1895 in Red Oak. Their children were Everett who married Effie Mae Morris (I can't remember if she was related to the James Morris that married Cordelia). I know of one child Aleen. The second child of Lottie and Virgil was Bessie who married Andrew Whitfield. I believe they had 7 children who lived mainly on the west coast.

I was at the Red Oak Cemetary yesterday and found Lottie's grave. She is buried near her sister Cordelia, her father Jesse and 2 of the children of her sister Susanna and Larkin Russell. They are all near the back of the cemetary by the very large oak tree that has a cement bench next to it.

First of all let me apologize to the individuals that replied to my first post. Sometimes life just gets in the way of things. That being said...Nancy is supposedly buried in a cemetary in Beeville, TX. I visited with the son of Rutha Jane several years ago and he stated that she was there.

Also, how would I go about ordering an Upton CD? Thank you so much.

I am searching for any information on William Messer and Jacob Messer. I believe they may be brothers that moved to Latimer County, Oklahoma from Kentucky.

Jacob Messer married Rose Hicks and had four children that I know of: Ollie who married Fred Adams, Pearl that married James Roe, Buddy (don't know what became of him) and Annie Lula who married James Williamson(don't know what became of them)

William Messer married Laura Evans and had Charles Bruce Messer who did in Virginia. I don't know if they had anymore children and I don't know what ever because of William and Laura I lose them after the 1900 census.

1900 Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, Township 5
HH # 639 - 639
Messer, William Head W M Oct 1861 38 19 OH, KY, OH
...Laura Wife W F Sept 1860 39 M 19 5-2 KY KY KY
...Charley Son W M Jan 1885 15 S KY OH KY

1900 Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, Township 5
HH #121 - 122
Messer, Jacob Head W M Feb 1861 39 M 12 (all KY)
...Rossana Wife W F Mar 1868 32 M 12 6-4
...Ollie daughter W F Oct 1888 11 S **** Married Fred Adams
...Pearl daughter W F Mar 1891 9 S **** Married James Roe
...Buddy Son W M Jul 1893 6 S **** UNKNOWN If married or to whom
...Annie daughter W F Oct 1897 2 S **** Married James Williamson

Is anyone researching this family that may be able to help me move forward? I have much information on the Messer's previous generations but am hitting a brick wall with these two gentleman.

I would love to obtain Jacobs obituary if anyone has access to the older newspapers in the area. He died on December 22, 1922 and is buried in the Gowen Cemetery.
Barbara,

Any chance I could get you to take a few photographs in the Gowen Cemetery for me? I am looking for Jacob Messer and all the Roe Family. My main interest is in the Messers. I believe Jacob Messer came from the family of William Messer and Letty Morris out of Kentucky.

There was also a William Messer and wife Laura Evans living in Latimer County at the same time as Jacob. I believe they are brothers, but I have nothing to confirm this, YET....

Belinda
Although you posted your query in 2004, I have only seen it as of today. I am Thomas Pate's second cousin and I have quite a bit of information about his family. My grandmother and his maternal grandfather were brother and sister. Tom passed away July 20, 2006. Did you ever find the answers to your query? I do have names and dates for some of what you asked for. If not, please let me know and I will be glad to help you.
Happy hunting,
Wilma Hixson
whixson@mbo.net
