Telephone Coming, Help Wanted
J. M. BELLAMY, president of the Farmers and Merchants Mutual Telephone Company, was in our office Tuesday and stated that the line would reach Addington the last of this week or the first of next week. He says they find it very difficult to get laborers as everyone is picking cotton. I will say that some of our honorable loafers who do not think picking cotton is honorable, ought to go out and go to digging post holes for the company, instead of hanging around on the corners, chewing and spitting and using profane language, and then you would not think times were so hard.

DR. ELDER was summoned by wire Sunday morning to come at once t Lawton to attend DR. SANDERS, who is dangerously ill there.

MISS MAUDE MARTIN left today for her home in Nebraska. Miss MAUDE leaves many friends who wish her a pleasant trip.

Texas School House
J. G. RAINER got out 17 bales of cotton.

MR. SELLERS and family of Woolsey are visiting with MR. DAVIS and family.

LEE WATKINS has built a nice barn.

MR. CASSIDY’S daughter and family from Texas moved on the KENNEDY place.

MR. CARRITHERS/CARUTHERS moved his house out close to the road and is building an addition.

The singing at FRANK SAVAGE’s Sunday night is reported being very successful and entertaining.

ELDER NORRIS has his granary almost completed.

MRS. WAMBOLD and G. MCDONALD called on Mr. and Mrs. DAVIS Monday.

MR. HEDGECOCK and MR. MCCOY and families visited with Mr. WILCOX Sunday.

Obituary--Died at the Texas school house, Union school, cause of death, continued absence of those who should have been interested in the welfare of their children. Age 3 months. Its place now taken by visits and no religious gatherings.

A Musical
MRS. GRACE Addington entertained her young friends Monday evening with music and refreshments. Despite the dark ominous clouds, there was quite a few arrived before the rain and storm began, while here was a greater number that was invited that didn’t hurry fast enough and the rain beat them starting. Those present were: MISSES BELLE and ETHEL CECIL, BURL Addington and wife, CLINT WITTINGTON of Terral, GUSTIE and ED CECIL.

J. L. EVANS has purchased 25 acres of land from W. A. RYLE with the intention of making a new addition to the town for resident purposes.

MR. KELLOG, representing the McAlister Fuel Co. of South McAlester, was in town in the interests of his firm and secured the contract to furnish coal for out brick plant one year.

MR. FORMBY, TOMPRICE, MR. JAY, and MR. GARBRICH went on a ‘plum’ hunt Saturday night, returning with a fine supply of plums, grapes, and wild game of various kinds.

FRED THOMSON and wife returned to their home near Granite last week, taking with them their little daughter GERALDINE who has been here several months with her grandparents.

MRS. CARLEY entertained a few of her friends Sunday afternoon with cream and cake.

MRS. SUTHERLAND and MRS. WAMBOLD made a visit to Waurika Sunday.

WILL WASHINGTON was in Monday to meet his daughter who arrived on the morning train.

WILL Addington was caught in the rain storm Monday night while driving to Cornish.

MR HENSLEY and family left Monday for a few weeks at the World Fair, MRS. PRICE accompanied them.

JIM THOMSON and wife, MR. WITHERS and wife, drove to Madden Grove Sunday afternoon and made Mr. and Mrs. LIVELY a call.
