Mrs. WALTER ROSE and son attended the funeral of Mrs. PARKER LEWIS at Wilson Monday. BILL ROSE and JACK LEWIS were buddies in the 45th.
GEORGE WASHINGTON AUSTIN
George Washington Austin passed away at his home in Ringling, Saturday night, Dec. 30, 1951. He was 76 years 10 months 17 days of age. Death followed a long illness. Funeral services were at the First Baptist Church in Ringling directed by Collier and Leslie funeral homes. Burial was in the Ringling cemetery. Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, IDA AUSTIN, and five children, HENRY, DANIEL and MELVIN AUSTIN; ETHEL RICHARDSON and LORENE MILLER, 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
First Baby of New Year
EUNICE and JUNIOR RAPER are the parents of a baby boy born New Year’s morning at 6:00.

Margaret Pryor
Mrs. MARGARET ANN PRYOR, whose home in Jefferson County was ‘headquarters’ for coaches passing through the area, died Sunday at the Waurika hospital. She was 78. An enthusiastic sports fan, Mrs. Pryor attended all local athletic events at the University of Oklahoma until ill health prevented her a year ago. When her son, DICKPRYOR, Ringling, was football coach at Waurika, other state coaches gathered at her home. Mrs. Pryor’s seven children all have been teachers in Oklahoma schools and her four sons were all sports coaches at one time. Services were held Tuesday at the Worley funeral home in Waurika and burial was in the Ardmore cemetery. She is survived by four sons, DICK, JOHN, LEO and BEN PRYOR; three daughters Mrs. W. E. SESSUM, Mrs. GLYNN BULLA, and Mrs. JAMES WAID; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She lived in Jefferson County 45 years.
Wounded in Gun Play
TOLLIE INGRAM, youth of Zaneis, was wounded in an accidental shooting at a café on the intersection of Hwy 70 and State Hwy 76. It occurred Friday night. Mrs. MAHOTA JOHNSON, café operator, fired a gun outside into the air, attempting to break up a fight outside the café. The fighting stopped, but after she went inside, it started again. As she walked outside with the gun in her hand, witnesses said that Ingram, who was in the café, suddenly grabbed the gun, and in the scuffle, the weapon discharged, shooting Mrs. Johnston through the hand and the shot going into the center of Ingram’s stomach. Both were taken to the Ardmore hospital. No charges have been filed.

Mr. and Mrs. J. G. TIPTON announce the marriage of their daughter Miss SAMMIE TIPTON to Sgt. MELVIN EDMONDSON, son of Mr. and Mrs. FROSTY EDMONDSON. They were married Feb. 4, 1952. They are now at Temple, Texas where he is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
Resident of Orr Dies Suddenly
Funeral arrangements for SAM J. WHITENER, age 64, of Orr, who died suddenly Monday on Hwy 77 north of Ardmore, will be announced. Whitener was born Feb. 26, 1887 in Love County and lived in the Orr community most of his life. A farmer, he is survived by his wife, MARY, of the home; two sons, FRANK WHITENER of Lone Grove and HENRY WHITENER of Orr; two daughters, Miss CARRIE MAY WHITENER of Newport and Mrs. FANNIE LOU CROSS of Gene Autry/Berwyn, and 20 grandchildren. Sam J. Whitener was well known in Ringling, as he traded here many years.
Pilot, Wife Died in Crash
CHESER H. POLLARD, age 47, of Muenster, Texas, the pilot, and Mrs. MARIE POLLARD, age 33(?), his wife, were killed when their light plane crashed near Temple, Okla., Saturday. Highway patrol Lieut. C. W. ADAMS said the plane hit a voltage line, crashed, and burned. Pollard had attempted to land in a field. Mrs. Pollard was trapped in the plane wreckage. Pollard was thrown clear and was taken to a Wichita Falls, Texas, hospital, where he died later. Pollard, a pilot for the Kewanee Oil Co., of Butcher/Bulcher, Texas, and his wife had flown from Texas to visit her brother BILL WALLACE. Mrs. POLLARD was a daughter of CHARLES WALLACE of Tulsa; another brother and sister, TOM WALLACE, and Mrs. WILLIAM HOLLINGSWORTH, also of Tulsa, another sister JUNE WALLACE is in California. MARIE WALLACE grew up in Ringling and graduated from high school in 1930. Mrs. Pollard’s brother, BILL WALLACE, married BILL COLSON’S daughter, SALLY JO. Funeral services were held at Healdton Tuesday.

Korean War Fatality Being Sent to Ringling
In a telegram from the War Dept., the body of COZELLE AWTRY, who was killed in Korea last year, is being sent to Ringling, March 29. A son of WILLIAM N. AWTRY of Ringling and brother of DEWAYNE AWTRY who was also a casualty of the Korean conflict, will be buried at Ringling.
Miss IRENE BATES, daughter of Mrs. JESSIE BATES, was married to VERNON STEWART, son of Mr. and Mrs. NICK STEWART. They were married at Oklahoma City March 17, 1952 and plan to make their home in Cornish.
Cpl. J. C. AWTREY of Fort Hood, Texas, and LYNDALL AWTRY and family of Fort Worth, Texas, visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. BARON AWTRY and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. H. G. AWTRY.
Mr. and Mrs. WILLIAM N. SMITH announce the marriage of their daughter RUTH to Pfc. JAMES PRATHER of Pauls Valley. He is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
Marietta Monitor Editor Dies
HENRY WILLIS CHOATE, age 40, Marietta Monitor publisher, died March 12 after a heart attack at his home. Services were held March 13 in the First Methodist Church at Marietta.
Alfred E. Sarratt
ALFRED EUGENE SARRATT was born Oct. 3, 1886 and died March 22, 1952, age 65. He lived in and around Ringling since 1909. He was married February 1907 in Ardmore to Miss CORA CALTOSON. To this union four children were born. Mr. Sarratt was a charter member of the Assembly of God Church in Ringling and was serving on the board at time of his death. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. CORA SURRATT; two sons, LESTER B. SARRATT of Los Angles, California, and ALVIN LEE SARRATT of Pauls Valley; two daughters, Mrs. A. J. BYRAM of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. W. L. NEWKIRK of Tatum, N. M., eight grandchildren, three brothers, one sister, 6 half-sisters and 2 half-brothers.

Mishap Kills PAUL HOWARD
PAUL HOWARD, age 35, Ringling rancher, was killed by a falling tree early Saturday afternoon in a freak accident 11 miles south of Ringling. Workmen were attempting to pull over a large oak tree, using a cable and bulldozer, when the tree broke at the top and the loose half came crashing down on Howard. NEW CHAMBERLAIN, who was hired by Howard to help clear a piece of land, said the tree broke above the cable and flew off in the opposite direction, killing Howard, who was standing about 30 feet away with two other men. The bottom half of the tree was left standing. Paul Howard was manager of the Howard estate properties here and his father was the late WILTON HOWARD, pioneer. He is survived by his wife, KARLENE; five children of the home; his mother Mrs. Wilton Howard; sisters, Mrs. RUTH LESTER(?blurred) of Claypool, Mrs. H. LAVALLEY of Healdton, Miss DORIS HOWARD of Ringling; two brothers DON HOWARD of Claypool and MELVIN HOWARD of Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church with Rev. J. P. SIMMONS officiating. Harvey funeral home of Ardmore had charge of arrangements.
Duncan Visitors Attend Funeral
Mrs. CHAM JONES and Mrs. ZELLA ACREE of Duncan visited Mrs. GERTRUDE JOHNSON from Thursday of last week to Tuesday of this week. While in Ringling, Mrs. Jones visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. ROY MURPHY. Mrs. Acree visited relatives and friends. They attended the funeral of PAUL HOWARD. Paul was a nephew of Mrs. ACREE. Mrs. WINNIE GRAYSON of Frederick visited Mrs. Johnson.

D. C. Carpenter
D. C. CARPENTER was born Aug. 16, 1865 in Montague County, Texas and departed this life in Ringling April 27, 1952 , age 86 years 8 months 12 days. At an early age, he left Texas and moved to Indian Territory, settling near what is now Ringling. He has been known affectionately through the years as ‘PONY’ CARPENTER. In 1892 he was united in marriage to MARY IVY, who preceded him in death in March 12, 1912. To this union three children were born, GOBEL CARPENTER and STEVE OVERTON CARPENTER of Santa Paula, California, and Mrs. ANNIE LEE OZMENT of Santa Rosa, California. There are two sisters, Mrs. CORA MCMILLAN of Ardmore and Mrs. COGDELL of Amarillo, Texas; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In September 1948, ‘Pony’ gave his heart to Christ and was baptized into the First Baptist Church of Ringling. As long as his health permitted it, he attended services of the church.
VERNON R. MILLER
Vernon R. Miller was born at Grady Nov. 7, 1922, and died at the Clinic hospital at San Angelo, Texas, April 28, 1952, age 29. He attended grade school at Atlee, two years of high school at Ringling. In 1942 he volunteered for the U. S. Navy, and spent 22 months in the South Pacific, receiving medals, serving as a pharmacy mate, discharged Nov. 6, 1946. Vernon was married to WANDA JEAN SMITH Aug. 10, 1846. One son was born to their union in 1947. He is survived by his wife, son Vernon Jr., both of Ringling; his father LOGAN MILLER, brothers, FRANK and DOUGLAS MILLER of Ringling, GENE MILLER of Big Lake, Texas; sisters Mrs. OLA ALLEN of Duncan and GEORGIE of Wichita Falls, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, one sister and one brother.

GEORGE W. ALLEN
George W. Allen died May 5, 1952 and was born January 10(?), 1885 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, age 68. He was married to NELLIE PARKER Dec. 21, 1908. His wife and son ISAAC LEON ALLEN are left to mourn his passing also a host of other relatives. Mrs. Allen was well known in this community. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 7, with Elder BARON AWTREY and Elder ROY CROWNOVER officiating. Songs and music were by the Mountain Home girls with the music director, Mrs. WILLIE MAE KYKER. Burial was at Salona, Texas.

Mt. Home Girl Dies
WANDA DAVIS, age 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. MARK DAVIS of Mountain Home, died suddenly Tuesday while en route to the hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at the Church of Christ in Ringling Thursday afternoon.
The fourth annual Loco picnic will be held at Oklahoma City at the Belle Isle Park.
Mr. and Mrs. CECIL ANDERSON announce the birth of a son, DANA K., born May 19.

Granny CARGILE celebrated her 84th birthday June 11. She is making her home, at present, with Mr. and Mrs. J. A. BROWN. Mrs. CALEY and Mrs. HOUSTON helped Granny celebrate her birthday. Mrs. Houston is 87 years old and both of the ‘grannies’ are in fair health.

JAMES L. WYATT
James L. Wyatt, a resident of Jefferson County since 1917, died at the family home in Ringling, May 31, after a brief illness. He was born at Jackson, Tennessee Jan. 6, 1869 and was married to Miss MARGARET ELIZABETH CHANDLER on Oct. 8, 1898. The family came to Jefferson County in 1917 and settled southwest of Waurika. They later moved to Waurika and he engaged in the grocery business for some time, after which they moved to Woodrow. Here Mrs. Wyatt passed away Dec. 26, 1942. They were the parents of four children, one dying in infancy. Surviving are Mrs. EMMETT MCDONALD of Ringling, Mrs. PHILLIP CRUTCHER of Waurika and CLYDE WATTY of Chelsea. There are eight grandchildren. Mr. Wyatt moved to Ringling in 1943 and married SUSAN BENNETT who survives him. He was a member of the Masonic lodge for many years. Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, at the Waurika Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. HALEY. Interment was in the family plot at Ryan, with committal services by the Ryan Masonic lodge.
Family Reunion on Father’s Day
It was a happy Father’s Day for Mr. and Mrs. J. L. HOFFMAN of Hennepin, when seven of their nine children gathered in the home of their eldest daughter in Ringling, Sunday, June 15. ANNIE E. PERKINS
Annie E. Perkins, age 83, was born in 1869 and passed away July 1, 1952. She was united in marriage to JOHN J. PERKINS in 1885 who passed away in 1945. To this union were born nine children, all living: HARVE PERKINS of Temple, BUD PERKINS of Shafter, California; MATTIE MCCONNEL of Fort Worth, Texas; HENRY PERKINS of Mertens, Texas; WES PERKINS of Vernon, Texas; ROY PERKINS of Fort Worth, Texas; MAY BRONSON of Dixie, Okla., and J. C. PERKINS of Mountain Home (no ninth name given). She is survived by 67 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, MATTIE GIBSON, RUTH STATON, and COLLIE WARNER of Bronte, Texas. Funeral services were held at the Gospel Tabernacle Wednesday with Rev. TERRY MORRIS officiating.

Ryan Banker Killed
M. H. BARRETT of Ryan, president of the Peoples Bank & Trust Co., was killed in a car wreck on Hwy 81 last Wednesday, July 2. The accident occurred six miles south of Ryan on the Beton Branch bridge.

Mose Harris Family Reunion
MOSE HARRIS wanted to have a perfect family reunion. Their two daughters, of course, were here Mrs. EMERY of Dallas and her oldest daughter SHARON SCOTT of Kansas City arrived Friday. Mrs. WYNIFRED SCOTT, her husband, Dr. ALBERT SCOTT, dentist, of Kansas City, and their young daughter, DAWN, rode up from Dallas Sunday with EARL EMRY, Mrs. Scott’s father. PAUL HARRIS, oldest son, was at an architect convention at Washington, and M. E. HARRIS, architect, of Salt Lake City were too far away but the occasion was a happy one.
ISAAC HARMON
Funeral services for ISAAC HARMON of Ringling, who died Thursday morning after a long illness, were conducted Sunday in the First Methodist Church. Pallbearers: PAUL SPANNAGEL, IVAS SPANNAGEL, WILLIS HARMON, JOE HARMON, L. V. WALLACE and J. B. REYNOLDS, grandsons of Mr. Harmon. Harmon came to Oklahoma in 1901 from Illinois and homesteaded in the western part of the state. He is survived by five sons, three daughters, 23 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
Old Timer Visits Here
CHARLES WALLACE, now of Tulsa, formerly of Ringling, who has been visiting in California, was a Ringling visitor Thursday. Mr. Wallace was mayor here in the 20’s and one of the real old-timers of this section.
Disastrous Fire
Fire Sunday afternoon virtually wiped out the stock and fixtures of the HOOPER Rexall Drug Store here. The building was also damaged.

J. F. Gardner
Funeral services for JAMES F. GARDNER, age 87, resident of this community for 41 years, was Monday afternoon at the Grady cemetery. He died Saturday in his home south of Ringling. Born in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he moved to Clarksville, Texas, when 8 years old. He married Miss IDA HOOSIER and moved to Indian Territory in 1891. His wife and six children preceded him in death. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. ALLIE BURNETT of Ringling; five sons, P. R. of Ardmore, CURT of Waurika, DELBERT, BOB, and OCIE GARDNER of Ringling; one brother in California; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
ROY SMITH and OLIEN WEATHERMAN, both of Ringling, were married Thursday, July 24. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. SARAH SESSUMS. They plan to stay in Ringling for awhile.
Attend Marriage at Camp Chaffee
Mr. and Mrs. ERMA HOOSIER and Mrs. JESS TIPTON drove to Fort Smith, Arkansas to attend the wedding of their daughter and son, PEGGY JEAN HOOSIER and JACK TIPTON. The double ring ceremony was performed by the chaplain of Camp Chaffee base at the chapel. They will make their home there for the present.

Obituary
Mrs. H. D. PORTERFIELD, a resident of the Claypool community for the last 61 years, died at her home Tuesday, Aug. 19. Farewell services were held Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Assembly of God Church of Ringling. Rev. S. E. DICKEY, an old family friend and neighbor, officiated, assisted by Rev. E. L. MEDLEY of the Ringling church. Interment was in the Cornish cemetery directed by the Boydstun funeral home of Comanche. RUTH C. NOLEN was born March 5, 1881 in Indian Territory. She is survived by her husband and two sons, BARNEY PORTERFIELD of Randlett and WILLIE PORTERFIELD of Ringling, and daughter Mrs. JEWEL STONER of Ringling; her aged mother, Mrs. MARY NOLEN, age 98, a brother and two sisters, RUFUS NOLEN, Mrs. MARGARET SMITH and Mrs. AUDREY SANDERS, all of Randlett, and another sister Mrs. NANCY PORTERFIELD of LaJunta, California.

NICKLAS/NICHOLAS STEWART was born Feb. 17, 1883 at Huntsville, Arkansas and departed from this life Sept. 10, 1952. He married August 16, 1916 to PEARL HICKS or Ringling. They lived all through married life around Ringling until his death. To this family were born 3 boys and 2 girls: JOHN VERNON STEWART of Ringling, HENRY EARL STEWART of Big Spring, Texas, JAMES STEWART of Ringling, EULA FAYE FORD of Oklahoma City and CATHERINE VANHOOSE of Clovis, N. M. There are two sisters, ADA DUCK of Ringling and ELLA TAYLOR of Fox; two brothers, JOHN STEWART of Waurika and ALFRED STEWART who died Feb. 13, 1937; 8 grandchildren with one deceased, and many nieces and nephews. He made his profession April 4, 1952. Officiating at the funeral services were M. C. WALTER and E. L. MEDLEY, pastor. Burial in the Dixie cemetery arranged by Collier Bros. Pallbearers: BENNIE HICKS, GEORGE BATEMAN, GEORGE SAWYER, WESLEY LATHAM, DAN SHIPMAN and TOLBERT GOTHARD.

Mrs. WILTON HOWARD of Ringling announces the recent marriage of her daughter DORIS to GROBER L. WORLEY of Pampa, Texas. He is a graduate of Chillicothe high school and attended Mesa College at Grand Junction, Colorado, and O.U. with a degree in engineering. He is employed with the engineering dept. of Cabot Carbon Co. of Pampa, Texas.

Obituary
Mrs. HATTIE WRIGHT was born Aug. 31, 1868 in Thrape(?) County, Missouri and departed from this life Sept. 17, 1952. She was married to J. B. BATEMAN and to this union were born three children, GEORGE BATEMAN of Ringling, SAM BATEMAN of Sundown, Texas, and Mrs. HARVE PICKETT of Muskogee. Besides her children she leaves one stepdaughter Mrs. RUBY ROSE of Blanchard, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one sister Mrs. LULA SMITH of York, Penn. Mr. Bateman died Jan. 8, 1908 and she later married JIM WRIGHT. She converted and joined the Methodist Church at Atlee about 50 years ago and lived a Christian life.
Former City Resident Passes Away in Texas
Mrs. AMANDA DORSETT WARDLOW died Sept. 18 at the residence of Mrs. C. C. WHITE of Albany, Texas, following a lingering illness. She would have been 80 years old on the next Christmas day, having been born in Hill County, Texas, Dec. 25, 1872, in the A. M. DORSETT family. She came to Albany 21 years ago from Ringling with Mr. and Mrs. C. C. WHITE, her only daughter, who is prominent in Albany business circles and OES. Her husband, A. H. WARDLOW died in Oklahoma in 1918. She is survived by one daughter Mrs. IRENE WHITE, and granddaughter, Miss LOIS WHITE, a student at the University of Texas. Funeral services were conducted at the C. C. White residence in Albany with Rev. J. A. OWEN of the Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in the Albany cemetery. Mrs. JOE HARPER, sister of C. C. WHITE, of Ringling attended the service. Mrs. MANDY WARDLOW was a sister of the late TOM and HENRY DORSETT and Mrs. A. W. HAMMONS. She was the last of the Dorsett brothers and sisters.
Visits Here First Time in 28 Years
Mrs. THELMA TOPPLING of Oklahoma City visited the S. C. WRIGHT home. This was her first visit here in 28 years. She attended school at Centerpoint and Atlee at that time.

Arie N. Daniels
Services for ARIE NOBLE DANIELS of Wilson were held last Thursday at the First Baptist Church there. He was born in Grayson County, Texas, and lived in Wilson since 1922. Surviving are his wife, EVA PEARL DANIELS; three sons, DEE C. of Thibodeaux, La., HAROLD LEE DANIELS of Fort Belvoir, Va., and HARRY Jr. of Wilson; three daughters, Mrs. BOB SPENCE of Rankin, Texas; JO EVA (no third daughter named); his father, R. L. DANIELS of Wilson; two brothers, BILL DANIELS of Ardmore and CHARLES DANIELS of Wilson; a sister Mrs. CURTIS MCMULLEN of Ardmore and two grandchildren.
Obituary
TIGER AARON HALL was born June 22, 1875 in Kentucky and departed this life Sept. 24, 1952. On May 10, 1897, Tiger Aaron Hall was married to GEORGE MINNIE GOSSETT. Twelve children were born to this union, 8 of whom lived to be grown. They lived in eastern Oklahoma and were engaged in the lumber business. During the last 24 years, which were spent near Grady, they have been farming. Tiger Aaron Hall’s lifetime was devoted to doing for his family, friends and neighbors. His creed was to help those who could not help themselves. Mr. Hall is survived by his wife Georgia Minnie Hall; daughters VIDA WEAVER of Salina, Okla., JESSIE REED and EDNA of Grady; sons, ORVIAN and CHARLES of Oklahoma City, JOHN of Richmond, California, CORMAN of Enid and BUCK of Oscar; four sisters, 33 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Obituary
AUDENE EUBANKS RIDLEY, former Ringling resident, passed away at the Lindley hospital at Duncan, Oct. 12. Services were conducted at the Methodist Church at Ringling, Monday, Oct. 13, with burial in the Ringling cemetery. Rev. Simmons officiated and BOYD RAYBURN of the Center Point Baptist Mission assisted. Audene underwent a heart operation at Mayo Clinic a month ago and apparently was making satisfactory recovery until she contracted pneumonia a week before her death. She was born Dec. 12, 1926 at Devol. She is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. J. P. EUBANKS of Ringling; her husband, BILL RIDLEY, of Duncan; son PAT of Ringling; three sisters, Mrs. DON SCOTT of Duncan, Mrs. D. L. COX and Mrs. HARRY MILLER of Ringling; six brothers, ELI of Wichita, Kan., J D. of Duncan, LUTEHR of Walters, ELTON, JAMES and DEWEY of Ringling.
Ringling welcomes Mrs. MAUDIE EZELL, owner of the Ezell Grocery here, who recently moved from Fox. They are now located in the former BOWEN grocery store.

Obituary
TROY GRAHAM was born in Cooke County, Texas, April 9, 1890. He passed from this life at the Veterans Hospital at McKinney, Texas, Nov. 15, 1952, age 62. He served in World War I and was a member of this community for years. He is survived by one son, BRUCE GRAHAM of Long Beach, California; two stepsons, HAMP WINTERS of Ringling, HASKELL WINTERS of Colorado, stepdaughter Mrs. ONETA MALONE of Burkburnett, Texas; brother MONORE GRAHAM of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandchildren; one niece, one nephew and other relatives.

Mrs. W. A. WEAVER
Mrs. W. A. Weaver passed away Dec. 13, age 78. She is survived by five children, W. A. WEAVER of Iola, Kansas; HERBERT WEAVER of Wichita, Kan., BEN of Fittstown, Mrs. C. P. ADKINS of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mrs. J. D. PUCKETT of Ringling; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held at the Fittstown Baptist Church and burial was at Ada. Attending the funeral from Ringling were Rev. and Mrs. A. A. PUCKETT, and the J. D. PUCKETT family.
