Mr. and Mrs. ODUS MENDENHALL of Ringling announce the marriage of their daughter BETTY LOU to JESSE C. CREECH, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. CREECH of Oklahoma City. Rev. O. B. OWNBY of the Heronville Baptist Church at Oklahoma City officiated. Their attendants were Mr. and Mrs. JOHNNY MADDOX of Oklahoma City. The bride attended school at Claypool and Mountain Home, graduating from Mountain Home in 1950. He is a graduate of Latta high school at Ada and attended Spartan School of Aeronautics at Tulsa. He served 2 ½ years with the Air Force, completing 50 flying missions.
Mr. and Mrs. JOE ALLEN Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. JOE ALLEN celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, Jan. 14. JOE ALLEN and MINNIE PARKERSON were married Jan. 17, 1901 in Tennessee. To this couple were born seven children, all living except one. They have 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Those present: the WELDON ALLEN family, the BILL DOBBINS family, the LONNIE ALLEN family, Mrs. WALTER BAUCOM of Ardmore, the GENE DAVIS family, the GEORGE ALLEN family, the JIM ALLEN family of Coalgate; the R. H. PAYNE family, the CLARK RICHARDSON family, the MELVIN RICHARDSON family, the WILL RICHARDSON family, all of Bowie, Texas; the G. W. LYON family of Healdton. All of their children were present except one son, FINIS ALLEN, of Doyle, Okla.

J. L. YEATES
Funeral services were conducted at the Ringling Methodist Church Sunday afternoon for JAMES L. YEATES, age 83, who passed away at his home here Friday, Feb. 2, following an extended illness. The pastor, Rev. J. P. SIMMONS, officiated, assisted by Rev. BOYD of the Assembly of God Church. Interment was in the Grady cemetery arranged by Collier Bros. JAMES L. YEATES/ YEATS/YATES was born in Jackson County, Alabama in 1868. At age of 11, he and his family moved to Stephenville, Texas. He came to Oklahoma in 1907 and resided near Grady and Ringling since that time. Mr. Yeates was married to LELA PRESCOTT in 1896. To this union were born six children, two of whom preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; children, Mrs. LOTA ROBERTS of Oscar, ODAS/ODIS YEATES of Grady, Mrs. LIBBIE ROBERTS of Fillmore, Okla., Mrs. OPAL MEGEHEE/MCGEHEE of Bethany; four sisters, Mrs. J. A. JONES of Ryan, Mrs. ARCH WILLIAMS of Ryan, Mrs. ADA ALLISON of Ryan, Mrs. GEORGE HACKLER of Manville(? Maysville, Mannsville?); one brother M. S. YEATES of Morgan Mill, Texas; 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, and other relatives… He has been a Christian most of his life. He joined the Methodist Church nearly 60 years ago.

PEGGY MCKINNON sustained multiple fractures to her leg in a car accident near Wilson Saturday evening. She was taken to an Ardmore hospital. ANDREW BLACK, driver of the car, said he swerved to the bar ditch as the car in front stopped suddenly and his car struck a telephone pole. Other occupants of the Black car: Mrs. NED MCKINNON, ELDRIDGE and RICKY MCKINNON, and Mr. Black who suffered minor bruises.

LAURA LAMASCUS
Services were conducted Tuesday by Terry Morris at the Gospel Tabernacle for LAURA LAMASCUS, age 81, who died Monday, March 19. Mrs. LaMascus was born Feb. 6, 1871 and moved to this community 32 years ago. Her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. PEARL SHELTON of Ringling and HATTIE CRISP of Fresno, California; five sons, JOHN D. LAMASCUS of Nocona, Texas; HARMON LAMASCUS of Dallas, Texas; OLL LAMASCUS of Peoria, Arizona; LOUIS LAMASCUS of Ringling, ARTHUR LAMASCUS of Ringling; two brothers, ARTHUR (no surname given) of Ringling and SAM (no surname given) of Nocona, Texas; 18 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Interment was at Bowie, Texas.
I. C. HICKS in Trustee Race
An old-timer in the county, but who has resided in Ringling a short time, I. C. HICKS has entered the trustee race for Ward 3 in the Ringling election to be held Ap0ril 3. A native of Texas, Mr. Hicks came to Oklahoma 46 years ago, at age of 17. Last year he moved to Ringling from the rural community of Woodrow, southwest of Ringling. His daughter RUBY HICKS taught in the Ringling school years ago. Mr. Hicks distinguished himself as a member of the Red River Valley Rural Electric Association. .. He was employed for five years by the State Highway Dept. .. he is a member of the Ringling Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Masonic lodge and a deacon in the Baptist church. He formerly worked for years as a pumper in the oil fields.

Oldest Citizen Dead
MELISSA ELIZABETH MORRIS, age 99, who was Ringling’s oldest resident, departed this life Wednesday, March 21, 1951. She became a member of the Baptist Church about 88 years ago. She was married to A. W. MORRIS in 1875. He preceded her in death. To this union were born six sons, three of whom are living. Surviving are sons, HENRY MORRIS of Ringling, ISAAC SPENCER MORRIS of Ramona, California, and DOLPHOS MORRIS of Kaw City; 9 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Services were held Friday at the Assembly of God Church with Rev. BOYD officiating. Interment was in the Dixie cemetery.
MINNIE A. WALLS
Mrs. MINNIE A. WALLS of Ringling, age 86, died Monday morning in her home of a heart attack. She was the widow of NEWT WALLS, Jefferson County farmer, who died in 1921. A resident of Ringling community the past 40 years, Mrs. Walls was the mother of 11 children. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. WILLIE MCCARTY of Ringling, Mrs. ARMANDA AIRINGTON of Durant; a brother WILL COLLIER of Ada, a sister MELISSA PRINCE of Sulphur; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services were held at the First Baptist Church Wednesday with burial in the Cornish cemetery.
MAGGIE GREEN Is Surprised by Friends on Her 90th Birthday
Mrs. MAGGIE GREEN celebrated her 90th birthday on Friday, March 23, when several friends gave her a surprise birthday dinner in the home of her daughter Mrs. HENRY MOSELEY with whom she makes her home. Mrs. CARRIE COLLIER baked turkey and dressing and her friends brought covered dishes.

Walker Services at Orr
W. F. WALKER, age 83, died Friday afternoon, March 30, at his home in Ringling. He fractured a hip about four years ago and was never able to walk afterwards. He lived in the Orr community some years prior to moving to Ringling. Services were held at Orr Sunday afternoon with ROY HANNAH of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in the Orr cemetery. Survivors are his wife, AMANDA JANE WALKER of Ringling; four sons, ELVICE of Ringling, CECIL of Orr, JOE of Duncan and BILL of Weslaco, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. O. D. COMPTON of Amarillo, Texas; Mrs. MABEL MCCAULEY of Haughton, La., and Mrs. VERNICE BREWER of Pleasanton, California.
Mrs. Owens’ Father Dies in Texas
Services were held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Monahans, Texas, for JAMES LAIR, who died at his home there Monday. Mr. Lair had been in poor health for tow years and died from liver cancer. Survivors include his wife; two sons and three daughters. One daughter, Mrs. A. C. OWENS, is a well known Ringling resident.
Rites for IRA EAKIN
IRA W. EAKIN, age 62, long time resident of the Petersburg community, died Saturday, March 31, at his home. He had been in poor health for years. Mr. Eakin was born Dec. 14, 1888 at Spanish Fort, Texas and moved to the Petersburg community, south of Ringling, when a small boy. He married CATHERINE MEEKIN of Petersburg in 1909 and to this union two daughters were born. Eakin was a stock farmer and, before his health failed, took part in all worth while activities in the community. He was a faithful member of the Methodist Church, becoming a member when a young man. Services were conducted Sunday, April 1, in the Courtney Methodist Church with Rev. J. P. SIMMONS of the Ringling Methodist Church officiating, assisted by the Courtney pastor, Rev. JOE HAZLITT. Survivors include his wife; daughters Mrs. M. E. HAMM Jr. of Greenville, Texas, and Mrs. W. W. DAVENPORT of Marietta; three brothers, JAMES G. EAKIN of Ardmore, W. E. EAKIN of Ringling route 1, and B. M. EAKIN of Ringling route 1; three sisters, Mrs. SALLY LANGFORD of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. HALSTED of Temple and Mrs. MARVIN HARRIS of Pampa, Texas. Interment in the Petersburg cemetery arranged by Collier Bros.
Wilson-Lockwood
MOZELLE LOCKWOOD, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. CECIL LOCKWOOD of Ringling, was united in marriage to J. C. WILSON, son of Mrs. W. M. WILSON of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, in a double ring ceremony at Prairie Grove on March 10. Mozelle received her education from Ringling school, graduating in 1945. She was a long distance operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Ardmore at time of her marriage. They will live in Prairie Grove where he farms and raises cattle.
Mr. and Mrs. ARCHIE CATES and children DALE, SUE NELL and JOYE from Barber, Arkansas, visited friends in Ringling and Cornish Monday. Mrs. Cates is the former WANDA BURGESS, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. BURGESS. The Cates family was en route after a visit with Mrs. EMMA BURGESS who now resides in Odessa, Texas. This is their first visit here since 1937.

Beckham Rites
LOLLY LU TISHIE BECKHAM died at her home in Ringling Wednesday following an illness of more than year. Services have been set for Friday at the Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. J. P. SIMMONS, officiating. Interment will be in the Cornish cemetery. Mrs. Beckham was born March 14, 1876 in Mississippi, living to be 73 years old. She was a pioneer settler in this section, coming to Ringling with her husband in 1902. BENNIE BECKHAM, her husband, preceded her in death in 1941. Surviving are one son FLETCHER BECKHAM and two brothers, DAN and JAMES KING, all of Ringling.
VIRGIL JOHN
VIRGIL JOHN was born in Cornish on Feb. 17, 1912 and passed away June 11, 1951, suffering a heart attack. He had four brothers, one sister and his father who preceded him in death. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. ROBERT JOHN of Ringling; sister Mrs. H. H. APALA of Duncan and his wife, Mrs. EDITH JOHN of Oklahoma City and other relatives. Virgil served four years in the Army, two years overseas with the Second Army during World War II. Coming home in 1945, he went to work at Tinker Field at Oklahoma City where he was employed at time of his death. Services were conducted Thursday of last week at the Gospel Tabernacle with Bro. TERRY MORRIS officiating. Interment in the Cornish cemetery arranged by Collier Bros.
Mrs. London’s Brother Dead
Services were conducted at Gladewater, Texas, Wednesday, for Dr. CHARLES E. WHITE, who passed away there Tuesday. Dr. White was a brother of Mrs. L. M. LONDON, who, with her husband, went to Gladewater for the rites.
Hoehn Family Reunion
Mrs. FRED HOEHN had all of her children except one daughter, Mrs. MYRTLE LOVIN of California, home for a reunion during the past few days.
Mrs. MARY DAVIDSON of San Francisco, California visited her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. LEO HODGES.
FLOYD LEE STANTON is the new helper at the Collier Bros. Hardware & Furniture Store. Stanton, wife and two children have lived in this community for a long time.

Mr. and Mrs. SAM MCGOWAN returned from Carlsbad, N. M. where they visited their son, PAUL MCGOWAN. Mr. and Mrs. CECIL STROUD took the McGowans to New Mexico and they returned by bus.
Mrs. J. D. PUCKETT and daughter JAN visited at Fittstown with Mrs. Puckett’s brother BEN WEAVER and family. Mrs. W. A. WEAVER, mother of Mrs. Puckett, returned home with them.

Military Rites for Awtry
Services were held for BILLIE/BILLY WAYNE AWTRY at the First Baptist Church Friday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. E. VICTOR JONES, officiating. The Healdton American Legion post conducted a committal service. Billie Wayne was killed in action in Korea, Aug. 2, 1950. BILLIE WAYNE AWTRY was born Aug. 15, 1931 in Ringling and attended Ringling school. On Feb. 2, 1948 he entered the Army and was killed in action in Korea Aug. 2, 1950. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. UNIE AWTRY JACKSON of Ringling; his father, WILLIAM N. AWTRY of Ringling; three brothers, PFC BURTON C. AWTRY who was killed in Action July 18, 1950 in Korea; FOREST AWTRY of San Pablo, California, and THOMAS AWTRY of Ringling; four half-brothers, CLIFFORD AWTRY of Ringling, BASCOMB AWTRY of Comanche, HASKELL AWTRY of Big Spring, Texas; ERNEST AWTRY of Vernon, Texas; two sisters ALETA LITTLE of Seminole, BETTY AWTRY of Ringling; two half-sisters, VIDA ELLIS of Midwest City and MINI PORTERFIELD of Ringling, and other relatives. Interment was in the IOOF cemetery at Ringling.
Rites for Peters Infant
Services were held Wednesday in the Gaddis home for JAMES DAVID PETERS Jr., who was born July 8 and died July 10, 1951. Rev. E. Victor Jones of the First Baptist Church officiated. JO ANN WRIGHT, BETTY KYKER, MARY ALICE WEATHERMAN and LOIS DAWSON provided song service. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. James Peters; sister LYLA; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. G. T. GADDIS of Ringling; paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. L. H. PETERS of Archer City, Texas, and other relatives.
Two Brothers Met in Japan
It was a happy July 3 when two brothers from Ringling, DON and KENNETH BARNES managed to meet in Tokyo, Japan. Kenneth has been stationed at Guam and Don in Korea with the Armed Forces. This is the first time they had seen another for about a year. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE BARNES of Ringling.
LLOYD BLEVINS was promoted to Chief Petty Officer as he completed ten years in the Navy. Lloyd is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. BLEVINS of Ringling. He and his wife Betty have two children, LINDA LEE and DONNA KAY.
GENE CAMP, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. CAMP of Duncan, is leaving for overseas duty with the 2nd Armored Division of Fort Hood, Texas. The Camps formerly lived at Ringling where Gene graduated from high school.

Riley Service
Rites were held at the First Baptist Church Tuesday for OSCAR AUBRY RILEY, age 32, who died July 27 at Wichita, Kansas from self-inflicted gun wounds. The pastor, E. VICTOR JONES, officiated. Interment in the Dixie cemetery arranged by Collier Bros. Riley was born at Hugo Nov. 17, 1919. He is a former Ringling resident, who made his home at Muskogee for three years before moving to Kansas. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Muskogee. Surviving are his wife NORENE; four children, MICHAEL, DENNIS, PATRICK and CHRYL (Cheryl?); his mother Mrs. MYRTLE RILEY PRUITT of Ringling; two sisters, Mrs. AUDRA MALLOW of Tulsa; MYRTLE RILEY of Wichita, Kansas; five brothers, LEE JOE RILEY in the U. S. Navy; CLEBURN RILEY of Wichita, Kansas; THOMAS RILEY of Healdton; ALTON RILEY of Borger, Texas, and DONALD WAYNE RILEY of Ringling.
Services for Mrs. Fentress
The following from this community attended the funeral for Mrs. SARAH FENTRESS at Pocassett Sunday afternoon: Mr. and Mrs. TOBY GAINS, Mr. and Mfrs. FINIS SMALLEY and son, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. DELLINGER. Mrs. Fentress was the mother of a former Ringling resident, T. L. FENTRESS, who was a well known business man while living here.
Mrs. R. O. MCCALDIN and son RUSTY of Atlanta, Georgia, were guests in the B. O. EVERETT home. Mr. McCaldin is in Kansas City, Mo., with the Public Health Service doing rehabilitation work since the recent flood. Mrs. McCaldin is a great-niece of Mrs. SHAFFER.

ARTIE WELCH
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. for ARTIE B. WELCH, at the Baptist Church of Loco, with Rev. JOHN STUCKEY officiating. Boyston funeral home had charge. Mr. Welch, a resident of Ringling, was born Feb. 12, 1882 and died Friday, Aug. 3, at an Oklahoma City hospital. Survivors are his wife ANNIE WELCH of Ringling; four daughters, Mrs. WALTER BUNCH of Velma, Mrs. DELBERT ARRINGTON of Alma, Mrs. GEORGE ARRINGTON of Paoli, and Mrs. ROBERT MIXON of Borger, Texas; three sons, CALVIN WELCH and CLYDE WELCH of Duncan and MELVIN WELCH of Velma.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. RANDOLPH of Maysville visited Mr. and Mrs. J. P. DELLINGER. Mrs. Randolph is Mrs. Dellinger’s sister.
Miss WANONA COSTNER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. COSTNER of Poteau, was wed to LAWRENCE R. SELKIRT, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. SELKIRT of Calgary, Canada, in the First Baptist Church at Poteau, July 29. Rev. I. W. MCCLUNG read the double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Selkirk taught home-economics classes at Ringling school last term.
ROSE S. WOODWORTH
Services for Mrs. ROSE S. WOODWORTH, age 74, wife of W. E. WOODWORTH, president of the Ringling First National Bank and prominent oilman, were conducted Saturday at the First Methodist Church at Ardmore. Rev. J. P. SIMMONS of the Ringling Methodist Church officiated. Music was provided by Miss ANN WILSON, Mrs. JAMES HAWK and the church choir. Burial was in the Woodworth mausoleum at Rose Hill cemetery at Ardmore. Active pallbearers: WINSTON ACREE and JACK SMITH of Ardmore, M. ACREE of Chickasha, A. C. SWINNEY, B. O. EVERETT and LEE LONDON of Ringling. Honorary pallbearers: I. E. GIBBONS of Ardmore, B. F. HAMILTON, O. S. DAVIS and Lt. Col. B. A. MERRITT of Ringling. Mrs. Woodworth died Thursday of cancer. Born at DeWitt, Iowa, she studied piano at Cornell College at Mt. Vernon, Iowa and continued her education at Epworth Seminary at Epworth, Iowa. After her marriage in 1902, she came with her husband to Ringling, then known as Cornish. For years she taught piano in Ringling and Ardmore. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, WILL SNYDER of Sioux City, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Woodworth moved to Ardmore in 1948, 812 Third Ave. SW.

ANDY NOBLE
Andy Noble, age 48, resident of this community the past 25 years, died Aug. 23 in a Waurika hospital from a stroke. His death came as a shock to his relatives and friends. He was engaged in ranching and farming. He was born March 23, 1903 in Portage, Pennsylvania. He married ADELL DOBBINS of Addington, Feb. 15, 192(?). Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters Mrs. D. L. CROOK of Healdton; Mrs. W. H. CAMP of Wilson and Mrs. KENNETH BAIRD of Ringling; three sisters, IRENE STANLEY of Portage, Pa., MARY NOBLE of Emsworth, Pa., ELLEN NOBLE of Yorktown, Pa.; three brothers, FRANK of Wooley, Washington, HENRY of Pittsburgh, Pa., and JOHN NOBLE of Ringling. A Catholic service was held at the high school auditorium Tuesday afternoon with Father ANDRES of St. Mary’s Church at Ardmore officiating. Interment was in the IOOF cemetery of Ringling, arranged by Collier Bros.
D. N. CHITWOOD
D. S. CHITWOOD, 68, died at his home in Ringling, Monday, of a heart ailment. He had been a resident of Love County since he was nine years old, living most of the time near Leon and Rubottom. He moved to Ringling ten months ago and bedfast most of that time. Services were held at the Leon Baptist Church Tuesday with the pastor, Rev. BUTLER, officiating. All of his children were present for the service except a stepdaughter in California. Survivors are his wife; six daughters, Mrs. JIM WATKINS, Mrs. IKE YOCUM, Mrs. GUY WARTHEN, Ringling; Mrs. SAN BILDERBACK, Mrs. EMMETT BARRETT, El Reno, Mrs. ADREIN DEES of Marietta; stepdaughter Mrs. CLYDE LANGLEY of Fresno, California; son DANIEL CHITWOOD of Rubottom, several grandchildren and other relatives. Interment was in the Leon cemetery.
Mrs. Cagle’s Mother Dies at Kingston
Services were held Thursday afternoon in the Methodist church at Kingston for Mrs. S. M. HUTCHINSON, age 86, who died at her home there Tuesday from a heart attack. She was a faithful member of the Methodist Church for many years. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. C. M. CAGLE of Ringling, Mrs. J. S. ABERNATHY of Ardmore, and Mrs. BILL JUSTICE of Kingston; one son, T. S. MARTIN of Beeville, Texas. Interment was in the Kingston cemetery.

R. T. LONGEST Jr., age 23, of the Courtney community, accidentally slipped and fell into a corn picker while he was gathering corn on his farm last Thursday. He received several cuts and was taken to the Ardmore hospital for treatment.
Carter County Accident Takes Wilson Woman’s Life
EFFIE MAE FREEMAN, age 48, of Wilson was killed and three others were injured in a collision at the east junction of Wilson city route and Hwy 70. The injured were J. W. HERRELL, 73, retired farmer of Wilson, who received serious injuries about the head; J. R. GILLILAND, age 43, of Aspermont, Texas, who received serious head injuries, and his wife ALLARAY GILLILAND, age 33, who received minor bruises. Miss Freeman was killed instantly and her body taken to the Leslie funeral home.

Stallings Services
Services were held Friday at the First Baptist Church for LEE CALCOTE STALLINGS, age 77. The pastor, Rev. E. VICTOR JONES, officiated. Interment in the Loco cemetery arranged by Collier Bros. LEE CALCOTE STALLINGS was born April 8, 1874 and died Sept. 8, 1951. When two years old, he moved with his parents to Texas. In 1889 he moved to Oklahoma and lived here since. On April 9, 1901, he married ANNA MORRIS. To this union, two children were born, JEPTHA RUFUS STALLINGS who died in 1926 and JAMES LEE STALLINGS of Perry. His wife preceded him in death on May 29(?), 1942. Since that time, he made his home with his son, James Stallings, at Perry. He is also survived by two sisters, KATE STALLINGS, of Ringling and Mrs. R. C. WHITE of Addington, and other relatives.
First Bale
First cotton bale of the 1951 crop was ginned in Ringling last Friday at the Dulaney Gin. It was brought here by G. W. HARRIS who lives near Loco.
N. C. TOWERY, age 53, of Courtney was critically injured when he caught his left arm in a cotton gin Saturday. He was taken to an Ardmore hospital with both arms broken at the elbow and the hand badly mangled. Towery was employed by Duncan & Shaw at the Courtney gin.
Golden Wedding Date
The children of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. EUBANKS will hold open house for their parents at the Eubanks home in the Atlee community on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 23, in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary.

Stroke Fatal to CHARLES BATSON
CHARLES BATSON, age 37, died suddenly Wednesday morning from a stroke while working on a water well near Milo. The family resides at Dundee where his wife, two children and a stepdaughter survive. Mr. Batson is well known here where some of his relatives live.
GLENN SMITH Killed in Car Crash
GLENN SMITH, age 20, son of JOE SMITH of Ringling, was killed early Thursday in a car accident in New Mexico. His twin brother, SWENN SMITH, was seriously injured and is in a hospital. Both were in the U. S. navy and were apparently on their way home for a shore leave with relatives. Glenn and Gwenn were brothers of BILLY SMITH, who graduated from Ringling high school last spring. There are other relatives in the area.

E. J. BOYE is the new Ringling Eagle publisher. Mr. and Mrs. JIM BOYE, the new owners of the paper, moved from Seminole… Mr. and Mrs. LEWIS DAWSON, who have operated the Eagle the past 2 ½ years, have no definite plans as yet.
Military Service for Glenn Smith
Services were held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church for GLEN SMITH, who lost his life in a tragic highway accident while on his way home from the West Coast for a shore leave from the Navy. Rev. E. VICTOR JONES officiated. Collier Bros. had charge of arrangements of the interment at the Grady cemetery with military honors conducted by men from the Naval Training Center at Wichita Falls, Texas. Glen had been serving as gunner on a shop in the Korean battle zone and was due to ship out on Cot. 15. He met death behind the wheel of his car while his twin brother slept in the back seat… it happened 12 miles west of Socorro, N. M. Only two days previously, a Marine en route home met death at the same spot.
GLEN DOYCE SMITH was born May 23, 1930 in the Riverview community southwest of Waurika and died Sept. 20, 1951 near Socorro, N. M. He is the son of JOE F. SMITH of Ringling. Glen Doyce was preceded in death by his mother, MARY EVANS SMITH, brother BOBBY CARNES SMITH and an infant sister JANA SUE SMITH. Surviving are his father Joe F. Smith of Ringling; stepmother Mrs. EDITH SMITH of Ringling; three sisters, Mrs. MARY JO CASTLE of Midland, Texas, Mrs. WANDA JEAN MILLER of Little Rock, Ark., and SARAH BETH SMITH of Ringling; five brothers, KENNETH SMITH of Grady, DON SMITH in the Air Force stationed in New York; GWEN BOYCE, twin brother, stationed in the Navy aboard the L.S.D. Ft. Marion on the Pacific; BILLY JAMES SMITH and ANTHONY JOEL SMITH of Ringling; and other relatives. He was saved and baptized in April, 1945 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ringling.
HAROLD D. ALLEN
Services for HAROLD D. ALLEN, age 22, will be today at the Baptist Church. Rev. BRUCE MCLAUGHLIN of the Northeast Baptist Church of Ardmore will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery of Ringling. Allen died Tuesday in an Ardmore hospital following a long illness from cancer. He was born at Grady and attended school there. For the past five years, he lived in Ardmore. His parents are old-time residents of Jefferson County. Survivors include one daughter, DELORIS JOAN of Newcastle; four brothers, FINIS of Grady, BILL of Snyder, Texas; LLOYD of Ryan; BOB of Palo Alto, California; five sisters, Mrs. L. G. DUNFORD, Mrs. STANLEY ILNISKI, and Miss WAUNELL ALLEN all of Ardmore; Mrs. FREDY HAYES and Mrs. RICHARD CRAVENS both of Oklahoma City, and his parents Mr. and Mrs. M. L. ALLEN of Grady.
57th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. SOUTHWARD of the Zaneis community will celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary. Their children will hold an open house next Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Southward have lived in this section ever since their marriage 57 years ago.

ROBERT H. NOLEN
Mr. and Mrs. G. E. BAUCOM received the sad news that their grandson, ROBERT H. NOLEN, 1st Marine Division, T.M.F., was killed in action in central Korea on Sept. 26. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. NOLEN and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Baucom of Ringling Mr. and Mrs. Nolen live in Hobbs, N. M., formerly of Ringling.
Former Ringling Girl Becomes Bride in California
Miss EVELYN BAZE became Mrs. CALVIN PEARCY, Aug. 25, in a ceremony read by Rev. JOHN FORHELLA(?) at the First Baptist Church at Greenfield, California. Mrs. WILLIAM YATES Jr. was her sister’s matron of honor. William Yates Jr. served as best man. Evelyn attended grammar school at Orr and Dougherty, Okla., then attended school at Golzales, California. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. BAZE of Salidad, California, formerly of Orr and Ringling. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. JOHN PEARCY of Clarita. The couple will reside at Chualar, California where he employed.

Mrs. LUCINDA CHOATE
Mrs. LUCINDA CHOATE died at homer Saturday of old age and complications. Her body laid in state at the BILL WIGHAM home Monday The funeral services was Tuesday at the Gospel Tabernacle with Bro. TERRY MORRIS officiating. Burial was in the Crow cemetery. Out of town relatives here for the service were: the LEONARD WIGHAM family , NATE CHOATE, the BERT ROSE family of Lubbock, Texas, Mrs. EARL DANIELS and son of Ralls, Texas; Mrs. JOHN DANIELS of Crowell, Texas; Mrs. JOHN DRAKE and BILLY CHOATE of Iz, Oregon(?); the WICKS LAYTON family of Vernon, Texas; the CLARENCE CONWAY family of Petersburg, Texas; Mrs. CALVIN HICKEY of Vernon, Texas, TROY CHOATE and family of Ralls, Texas, and an old friend, Mrs. ROXIE HOPSON of Petersburg, Texas.
LUCINDA JEDSON was born at Stonewall, Texas, May 20, 1862 and passed from this life October 27, 1951. She married NATE CHOATE June 8, 1880, who passed away February 1932. To this union seven children were born; three of whom preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons of Ringling, TOM CHOATE and MARK CHOATE; two daughters Mrs. JANE LYLE of Ringling and Mrs. PARICE FOWLER of Blythe, California, all were present for the service except Mrs. Fowler; 35 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

EDGAR DANIEL MCKAY
EDGAR DANIEL MCKAY was born at Mobile, Alabama, Dec. 22, 1874 and passed away at the home of his son, O. B. MCKAY, who lives on Route 3, Walters, on Nov. 19, 1951, age 76. He married in 1893 at Commerce, Texas (no name given). To this union ten children were born. His companion preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 1939. He moved with his family from Alabama to Feraly(?), Texas in 1895 then to Oscar, Okla., in 1911. Later they moved to Claypool then back to Ringling where he has made his home until going to live with his son this year. He joined the Union Valley Baptist Church. He is the last member of his immediate family (brothers and sisters?). He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. LILLIAN AGNES LAIRD of Stockton, California; Mrs. LOVICE KING of Ringling, Mrs. NOLA WILLIAMS of Blue Mound, Kansas; and Mrs. LORAINE LAYTON of Vernon, Texas; five sons, O. MCKAY of Walters, JOHN MCKAY of Vernon, Texas, C. O. MCKAY of Stratford, Okla., DESTER MCKAY of Vernon, Texas, and GUY MCKAY of Vernon, Texas; 54 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Pearsons funeral home arranged for interment in the Cornish cemetery. The funeral was conduced by Rev. JOHN J. EVANS of Walters, assisted by Rev. Victor Jones of Ringling First Baptist Church, where the funeral was held Wednesday afternoon.
Train-Car Crash Claims Four Lives
Ringling and Mountain Home communities were saddened by the tragedy of the JESS GEORGE family. In a car-train crash near Wynnewood Saturday night, Mr. and Mrs. JESS GEORGE suffered the loss of tow of their four children, a son-in-law, and a granddaughter. Dead; JAMES V. BOYD Jr., his wife LUCILLE, and three year old CONNIE. FRANK GEORGE died a short time later after they got him to a hospital where his wife BETTY is a nurse.

A. B. TOTEN
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for A. B. TOTEN in the First Baptist Church with E. Victor Jones, pastor, officiating. A. B. Toten was born Feb. 24, 1881 and died Dec. 12, 1951 in Phoenix, Arizona, age 70. Mr. Toten was born at Corsicana, Texas, and moved to Indian Territory in early days, residing in the Ringling community most of his life. On Dec. 10, 1906, he married Miss DOVIE KELLY and to this union four children were born, two boys, JOE TOTEN and PAUL TOTEN both of El Centro, California; two daughters, Mrs. UNICE/EUNICE BARKER of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. P. T. LAMBETH of Anaheim, California. All the children survive. Also surviving a half-sister Mrs. IDA NELLGROVE of Ryan, Okla., 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death in Jan. 19, 1919. At the time of his death in Phoenix, Arizona, he was on his way to visit a niece, Mrs. MYRTLE HAMMONS who lives there. In the summer of 1921 he united with the Baptist church at Center Point which is now a mission of the First Baptist Church of Ringling.
