I forgot to add the CHILDS references in the previous reply:

Charles B. Long
The Enid Events
Enid, Garfield Co., OK
September 19, 1935
Page 5, section A, column 5

Douglas Items

Mr. C.B. Long, who had been in poor health for the past year, died at his home Monday morning. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Union church Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Wallace Linton of Hennessey, assisted by Rev. J.B. Rogers. He was laid to rest in the Douglas cemetery, where he had spent so many hours in the past trying to beautify and preserve the grounds.

Obituary

Charles B. Long, second son of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Long, was born in Harrison Co., Missouri, October 30, 1862, and died at his home in Douglas, September 16, 1935, being 72 years, 10 months and 17 days old at the time of his passing. He spent his boyhood days in Missouri. On September 1, 1887, he was united in marriage to Emma Dougherty at Blue Ridge, Mo. To this union six children were born.

Mr. and Mrs. Long came to Hennessey, Okla., in 1891. Later they moved to Marshall and on the memorable day, September 16, 1893, they made the race into the Cherokee Strip, homesteading the farm here which has been their home for the past 42 years.

Mr. Long, being truly a pioneer, has been associated with the upbuilding of the community giving part of his land for the townsite, givine his council in spiritual matters, giving of his strength and time in establishing the first school, the first church, the memorial ground. When we pause to think of the early history of our community, we think in reverence of Mr. Long, who asked no honors but lived an humble, quiet and unpretentious life, and his faithful Christian example of living won for him the love and confidence of his neighbors and friends. He has left to posterity an example to be emulated.

Mr. Long, in early life united with the Methodist church in Missouri. When he came to Oklahoma, his first thought was to help build a place of worship. He hauled one of the first loads of lumber for the church at Union Chapel. Later when he came to this community, he became a charter member of the Christian Union church here. He, with Mrs. Long and Mrs. John Hoffman, were the only remaining charter members of the local church.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife, Mrs. Long, three daughters, Mrs. Grace Lockridge, Mrs. Lala Carl, and Mrs. Bernita Childs; eleven grandchildren, three children preceded him to the Great Beyond, Etta Clyde in the year 1890, Lura Ida in 1904 and Roy in 1905. He leaves besides his immediate family, three brothers, Will Long of Stratton, Colo.; Frank Long of Eagle, Colo.; and Ed Long of Denver, Colo.; four sisters, Mrs. Effie Walker, Arkansas City; Mrs. Gertrude Hutcheson and Mrs. Lottie Hedges of Enid; and Miss Myrtle Long of Oklahoma City, other relatives and an innumerable host of friends.

Martha Catherine Childs Schrader
THE HUNTER ENTERPRISE
Hunter, Garfield Co., OK
May 1, 1919
Page 1, column 1

OBITUARY

Martha Catherine Childs, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Childs, was born July 18, 1876, near Wellman, Iowa, and died at her home near Hunter, Okla., April 25, 1919, at 9:20 a.m., aged 42 years, 9 months and 7 days. Diabetes and heart trouble was the cause of death.

On May 16, 1894, she was united in marriage to Frank Schrader, and to this union were born ten children, two of whom died in infancy.

In 1904, she with her family, moved to Oklahoma and settled on a farm southwest of Hunter, where she resided until death.

When but a child she united with the Baptist Church at Wellman, Iowa, and in 1914, became a member of the Central Methodist church, where she served as a faithful member in the church and Sunday School. She was also a member of the Country Club and was ever found ready and willing to offer a helping hand to the need. She was a home loving mother, a tribute the highest that can be paid to womankind.

She leaves to mourn her death, a husband, three daughters, five sons, an aged mother, a step-father, and a host of friends.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to thank our many friends for the kind acts and deeds which they offered during the sickness and death of our dear loved mother, daughter and wife.
Frank Schrader and children
Henry Stucker and wife

Charlott Lucindia Childs Kelly
THE HUNTER ENTERPRISE
Hunter, Garfield Co., OK
December 2, 1915
Page 1, column 1

OBITUARIES

CHARLOTT LUCINDIA CHILDS

Charlott Lucindia Childs was born in Mississippi, December 28, 1829, and died at the home of her grandson, Arthur L. Kelly, north of Hunter, on November 29, 1915. On October 28, 1852, she was united in marriage with Granville L. Kelly, who has “gone on before.” She leaves to mourn her loss, seven children, four sons and three daughters, one residing in the state of Washington, two daughters in Tennessee, three sons and one daughter near Hunter, Okla.

Mrs. Kelly was a member of the Baptist Church and a faithful adherent to the teachings of that church. She was a kind and loving mother, a noble Christian woman and a patient sufferer.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the A.L. Kelly home, by Rev. J.W. Bowles of the Hunter Baptist church, interment made in Hunter cemetery.

Hi, I found the following mentions of the LASH surname while reading old Garfield Co. newspapers:

Henry J. Ott
The Drummond Times
Drummond, Garfield Co., OK
January 29, 1926
Page 1, column 2

OLD RESIDENT DIES

Henry J. Ott, a resident of Drummond for many years, died at his home here early Saturday morning, after an illness lasting only a few days.

Mr. Ott became seriously ill the Tuesday preceding his death, although his health had been failing for a considerable length of time.

Funeral services were held Sunday and burial made in the Del Norte cemetery.

Page 1, column 3

HENRY J. August 26, 1885, he was united in marriage to Allie Adamson, who preceded him in death November 3, 1902. To this union were born seven children: Janie and George, who died in infancy; Charley, who died October 21, 1918; Clyde Ott, of Drummond; Walter of Oneida, Kans.; Ola Baker, of Waukomis; and Mrs. Myrtle Brown, of Potwin, Kans. He united with the Christian church in 1890 and remained a member until his death.

In his young manhood, he was an athlete and possessed a splendid intellect, but in later years, owing to the strenuous life he lived, he was very much impaired in health. Although meeting many reverses and hardships, he remained cheerful and optimistic.

Mr. Ott raised his family almost entirely without the aid of the mother, Mrs. Ott having died in 1902.

He died at his home in Drummond, January 23, 1926, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 28 days. He was buried in the Del Norte cemetery. The funeral services were held at the Pilgrim Congregational church in Drummond, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The service was in charge of Rev. W.C.

hello jerri and michael, so great to hear form you. i wrote so many messages to you, i'm even confused! maybe you've figued out that i am the daughter of william edwin mahoney and his wife patricia morris mahoney. i was born elinora davies mahoney (12-22-55) and my older brother was born brian henry mahoney (6-54). we were both adopted out to different families, yet lived just miles away...we met in our teens and are still in touch, in fact i'll see him next week. my adoptive name was julie anne keenan (mcfarland)and he's brian benjamin golliday. i'm in california and he's living in south america. patricia morris and the late william mahoney were divorced in the seventies, i think. they met at otis art institute here in california, i have many of her abstract paintings and a couple of his works. bill abandoned the family after my birth and died of alcohol literally on skid row in downtown l.a. in i think 1977 at 51- i can check that fact. pat had post- partem depression after my birth (wonder why?)and sadly was not treated for it like they would today. i guess everyone was "schizophrenic" in those days. so she has spent most of her adult life in institutional care, tho now she's in an old folks home. poor lady, she lost so much. i'm the only girl among the cousins that i know... it's good to know helen and michael are out there! half- cousins count too! i hope you are my cousins...it's kinda confusing!more info on dr. john- he and nora price and "billy" lived on a wheat farm in enid, oklahoma. i think my father was only 8 yrs. old when dr. john died. nora was a nurse. my brother has visited the farm and said there's a family graveyard filled with relatives who died young. alcoholism was a plague in this family.(oh, those irish) i hope dr. john didn't have anything to do with the drug use in the family. yikes! i thought dr. john's parents came over from ireland(?) do you have any photos of dr. john? i don't, but would love to see him. wow, 3 wives and 4 kids- he must have been a charmer! are dr. john's kids, helen, elizabeth and john frederick all from his marriage to marie delaney? i wonder who the one other wife was and if they had kids. and if he kept up with his kids born before billy. i have photos of bill mahoney and nora if you are interested. my whole life has been one surprise door opening after another. i'm glad we got in touch and let me know if i can help any more at all. thanks so much! take care, julie mcfarland p.s. did you receive my email address?

I did get your post.Sorry it has taken so long to answer. Have been away from home for about 3 weeks.Below is what I have so far on my husbands line...Mahoney.
DR. JOHN E. MAHONEY(my husband's grandfather) (1880-1933, 53 years old) married first, MARIE H. DELANEY(1886-1935, 46 years old)who died either of overdose or heart attack. She became morphine addict after dental surgery. Was most probably an alcoholic.
Their children:
HELEN MAHONEY VACIN(6/25/07-2/29/76, 69 yrs.old)married Joe B. Vacin (3/7/08-2/1/68. She was alcoholic, prescription drugs, mental breakdown at 32 yrs, glaucoma.
Their child:
ELIZABETH VACIN MCDANIEL, deceased at 58 yrs.of alcoholism and liver failure.

ELIZABETH M. MAHONEY LAND (3/21/09-8/31/62, 53 yrs.). Was alcoholic, heart attack, married John G. Land, Jr. - deceased.
Their children:
JOHN G. LAND, III (still living)
CHARLES M. LAND, deceased at 44. Alcoholic, liver failure.
RICHARD M.LAND, deceased, probably alcoholic, murdered outside of a bar.

JOHN FREDERICK MAHONEY (my husband's father)(7/27/11-4/3/61, 49 yrs)Alcoholic, cancer of esophagus, married Willa Aleta Speer (9/10/14-6/6/89, 74 yrs, cancer of duadenum.
Their children:
HELEN PATRICIA MAHONEY FINLEY, (10/3/40)
MICHAEL ARNET MAHONEY (my husband) (9/20/43)

Dr. Mahoney's 2nd or 3rd wife(not sure of this) was Nora C. Price (1893-1976).
Their child:
WILLIAM E. MAHONEY (6/18/23-8/4/80, 57 yrs)Alcoholic
(Billy and his wife were both alcoholics and their children were adopted out)
Their children:
BRIAN GOLLIDAY
JULIEANN KEENAN MCFARLAND

Well, that is what I have on this Mahoney clan....if I find any more information, I will gladly pass it along, and if you have more, please share...or if I have anything wrong from William E. Mahoney line...it seems I've hit the wall and can't get past Dr. Mahoney...I do know they came from Cork County, Ireland...but, not much more. Hope I can one day cross the pond to the Ireland ancestors. Look forward t hearing from you.

Jerri Mahoney

My research into my Hedemann ancestry has led me to look further into the Johann Deitrich Hedemann/Minnie (nee Hesemann) family who lived in Lincoln Township, Garfield County, OK from the early 1900s through at least the mid 1940s. I believe Deitrich (maybe known as Richard) died in 1944, and Minnie perhaps as late as 1860s? They had ad least one son, Alvin.

I am looking for family, friends, or relatives who may still live in the area who can help shed some light on this couple.

My gr grandmother died on 20 May 1930. Her name was Dorthea (Dorothy ) O Finley (nee Rasmussen). I am in need of an obituary for her. She died in Enid Oklahoma. This is the final document I need for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Getting a death certificate is pricey (57.00 through vitalcheck on Ancestry) and the only other info I see for one could take 8 weeks! I am hoping the obituary states both her maiden name and married name...then I will be all set!

Regards,
Ida

Benjamin F Cline and Ida May Lumsden and George H Cline - where/when did they die

Hello,

I'm searching for the date of death and final resting place for Benjamin F. Cline born Nov 25, 1857 in Pickaway County Ohio and last seen in 1930 Census in Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma (age 73) with his wife Ida May Lumsden-Cline born Jan 18, 1865 in Illinois.

They married in 1886 in Morgan County Illinois.

Not sure where I picked it up, but Ida May Cline may have died sometime in 1940 in Enid, OK.

They had only one son (I believe), George H Cline born Aug 21, 1890 who is also in Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma in 1920 and 1930. George married Myrtle L ? in about 1910 who was born in August 9, 1889.

I think Myrtle L. Cline died Jan 22, 1974 based on this link that I need to request: http://okhistory.org/research/obits/searchresults.php
Cline Myrtle L. Mrs. 1974-01-22 9:4

George and Myrtle have two children that I know of: Gwendyln Cline (b. abt 1911) and George Joe Cline (b. abt 1913).

I'm looking for anything on this family ... I would welcome any information, thanks.

MikePeterson61@gmail.com
