I'm curious about this post. Nellie Wauhob is my husbands grandmother. The cemetery everyone is referring to is right across the road from our home. Reading this thread has taught me a lot of information I didn't know. However, if I'm reading this correctly, you would be grandma's sister? We weren't aware that she had any sisters still alive.

I know this is a long shot since it's been 4 years since this post, but thought I would try anyway since I just found this. I am the oldest son of Ronald K. Jackson and have an interest in continuing my dads genealogy work. Were you able to make contact with any family members? I find it remarkable that a birth announcement would be found for my dad. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Rev. Marvin Ernest Beene - Obit, second wife?

One of my relatives, Mabel Pack, b. 29 May 1887, married a John Claudus Wilson in 1906. They moved to Oklahoma, he died, she married an Ernest Beene 9 Feb 1954 in Woodward County. I suspect, but can't prove, that "Earnest Beene" is really Rev. Marvin Ernest Beene, who died 30 Dec 1973 and is buried with his first wife, Minnie Mae Beebe (1 Jan 1890 - 22 May 1953) in the May Cemetery in Ellis County.

The name is uncommon, the timing is about right, and both families were in Harper County in 1920 and 1930.

I can't find a death record for Mabel, but I'm hoping some kind soul will look up Rev. Marvin's obit for me, and it will shed some light on this.

If someone has a death record for Mabel, I'd like it, too. I know I can't ask for an obit without a death date. When I look up obits for people in my county, I can read 5 - 7 days worth of microfilm before I get seasick.

Thank you.

---------------
Edit:
I found Mabel on find-a-grave, over in Harper County, with her first husband, John C. Wilson. She died Nov. 15, 1970.

The 300-page book has no index per se; so I will need to look page by page. However, some families subscribed to the book pre-publication and hence have their own pages, pictures, and family histories. There are Scoenhals pages for Johannas, Fred, Georg, Henry, and John. I can scan and email them to you if you send me your email address. Please contact me off-list @ wabarron@aol.com....

Ellis County Capital
Arnett, Ellis County, Oklahoma

Friday, December 29, 1939

Aged Pioneer Mother Called by Death
Mrs. ANN HUFF, age 91, pioneer mother, died at the home of her son, T. B. HUFF at Fargo, Friday, following a long illness and near total blindness for the past en years. Aunt Ann, as she was known, resided in the southeast part of Ellis County in the Eddie neighborhood many years. Her husband, a veteran of the Southern army during the Civil War, has been dead for many years. Aunt Ann was loved and respected by everyone, even during her last years, blind and suffering from infirmities of age, she tried to be helpful and cheerful to those about her. Miss ANN GILBERT was born near Wills Point, Texas, Dec. 20, 1848, died near Fargo, Oklahoma, Dec. 23, 1939, age 91 years two days. She was united in marriage with THOMAS S. HUFF, Jan. 5, 1866, the father and husband passed away March 8, 1904. To this union were born seven children, four sons and three daughters. She grew to womanhood and united with the Baptist church to which faith she remained faithful until death. She moved with her family to old Day County in 1900 and has made her home in this section since. She is survived by two sons, T. B. and ROBERT HUFF, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. T. B. HUFF has been her constant companion and nurse for the past years. Funeral rites were conducted from the Methodist Church in Fargo Sunday afternoon and burial made in the Eddie cemetery.

Aged Mother Dies at Stroud, Oklahoma
Mrs. ELIZA GESSELL, age 74, pioneer mother of this county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. L. OWENS, at Stroud, Tuesday, Dec. 26, following an illness of several months. Mrs. Gessell formerly resided southeast of Gage, where the husband and father died in 1919. She is survived by five children; three daughters, Mrs. M. F. STAGG of Hennessey, Mrs. L. J. BURNETT of Hawarder, Canada; and Mrs. Owens of Stroud; sons, LEWIS GESSELL of Honolulu, H. T., and A. C. GESSELL of Arnett. Mrs. Gessell was a sister of A. LUTHI, formerly of near Gage, now of Canon City, Colorado. The remains will be returned to Gage where funeral services will be held at the Christian Church Thursday afternoon with interment in the Gage cemetery beside the grave of her husband.

Golden Wedding to Be Observed Monday
The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. JOHN A. CROOKS of Arnett will be observed at the home of their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. INFIELD in Arnett, New Year’s Day. Mr. and Mrs. Crooks were united in marriage at Kenton, Ohio, Jan. 1, 1890; shortly after their marriage, they moved to Oklahoma Territory where they have made their home in this state since. Coming to Oklahoma with them were Mr. Crooks’ sisters, Mrs. JAMES DUFF of Hennessey, and Mrs. ADAM GERLACH now of Little Rock, Arkansas, both of whom recently celebrated their golden anniversaries. Mr. and Mrs. Crooks are the parents of ten children, five sons and five daughters. She told me that she got a delayed birth certificate and she joined the navy so she had to have a birth certificate. She was born in Arnett, Ellis, OK. Is there an index or a place I can go to look for myself. I ask in Perry, Noble, OK, where she lived when she joineed the navy, but they told me that delayed bc when in Ok City, OK.
THIEL, Monica "Jo" Joann - Obit

From the Medford (OR) Mail Tribune on 11-21-2010 at www.mailtribune.com

Photo included.

On Thursday, November 11, 2010, Monica Joann Thiel, 78, of Medford , Ore., died peacefully at home. With her husband and daughter at her side, she took her Saviors hand and joined her loved ones in Heaven. Jo was born in Arnett, Okla., on August 8, 1932, to Roy and Emma Leisher, she was the oldest of three daughters. Her family moved to Oregon when Jo was a child, and eventually located in Medford where Jo attended Medford High School, graduating in 1950.

On April 25, 1951, Jo married her husband, Gil Thiel, who remained the love of her life for nearly 60 years. Jo and Gil began their married life in Medford, but in the early years of their marriage the couple traveled as they followed Gil's Air Force service, returning to Medford in 1952. Jo then had their two daughters, Michelle in 1953, and Darcy in 1955. As they followed her husbands early career with the FAA, they relocated to Sacramento, Calif., and Reno, Nev., eventually returning and settling in Medford.

Jo later became a grandmother to six granddaughters, and even later to nine great-grandchildren. Jo had a tremendous love for children, animals of every kind, gardening and making friends. She was very easy to love and made friends wherever she went. Jo was devoted to living her best life and was an inspiration to many as she overcame the difficult seasons of her life with grace and dignity.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Darcy K. Shea; and her sister, Nola Lahon. Jo will be loved and missed by her husband, Gil; daughter, Michelle and her husband, Michael Neuenschwander, all of Medford, Ore.; her son-in-law, Greg Shea, of Fairview, Ore.; her sister, Carol Oehmigen, of Sacramento, Calif.; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and the many friends both old and new, that are too numerous to count.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Table Rock Fellowship, 3610 N. Pacific Hwy., with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Providence Hospice, 2033 Commerce Drive, Medford, OR 97504.

Hello,

I am seeking the obituary of my great grandfather whose name was Luther
Issac Marshall. He is shown in the 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses as
living in Rock, Ellis County, OK. He died in 1938 (either 11 Jan or
11 June, I'm not sure which) and is buried in Gage Memorial Cemetery.
His wife was Lillie Mae (Fulk) Marshall and her obit is on the Ellis GenWeb
site. In it, he is mentioned as a county commissioner.

I would be most grateful to receive a copy of a published obituary, if available. I am more than happy to reimburse you for any costs. I live in CA and am unable to travel to OK to do research in person.

Thank you so very much!

Joan Zuckerman

Hi, I haven't been on in quite awhile, but wanted to know if you have ever found anything on a Conrad Carl Jr. or Sr. or a Charles Martin Kolander (my father). My grandfather Conrad Jr. lived in Vacaville CA for many many years, and his father Conrad Sr. and my great grandmother Mildred lived in or around Fresno or Bakersfield CA. I am Barbara L. Kolander of Southern CA. I have difficulty finding any info on my Kolander line. Not sure what other surnames are involved on my fathers line. Would appreciate hearing from you!

Check with the local public library of the town where Henry Alexander died or lived to see if they keep newspapers on file. You can then request a copy of his obituary. Good luck. Rosalie

Elmwood Cemetery is aka Woodward City Cemetery. It appears the Alexanders might have been living in WW.
