Harvey Ingraham

I am searching for information on a Harvey Ingraham according to the Greenfield Vedette Nov. 27, 1902 a marriage licenses was issued to a Harvey Ingraham of Gage, Ellis, Oklahoma and a Mollie C. Cannady of Dadeville, Mo. I have reason to believe that this Harvey Ingraham is one of the missing siblings to my Great Grandfather Clarence Cidney, (Can), Ingraham. My G. Grandfather Can named his oldest son Harvey and I have not found that name anywhere else in the family, have always wondered where it came from. If so his parents would have been Charles Ingraham and Cornelia Ellen Bain who were married in Kane County, Il., April 16, 1850. According to the information that Cornelia gave in 1910 was that she had given birth to 9 children, but only 5 were still living in 1910. The only names that I know of for sure are Maggie, Edward and Clarence there may have been a William. Charles and Cornelia arrived in Dade County, Mo in about 1883 I believe. Because there is record of a marriage between a Margaret Ingraham and a George W. Alexander Palmer. Clarence stayed on the farm helping out his parents as his father Charles had receive a gun shot wound to his right knee during the Civil War while serving with Ill. R troops which left him crippled. Maggie was suppose to have moved to Oklahoma, and Edward moved to California with this son Edgar. I would like to have any information on this family as we don't have a lot on the Ingraham's, Thank you Taleah Wilkinson Great Great Granddaughter of Charles and Cornelia Ingraham

I am wondering if anyone stayed beind when they moved back to MO and IA around 1915 or 1916. Thank You!

I'm looking for information on Mary Evaline North, died 7 Jun 1962 and buried in the Gage Memorial Cemetery, Gage, Ellis Co., Oklahoma. Is her birth date on her gravestone? Does anyone know her maiden name? Husband's name? Is she the mother of the Coetta Evaline North who married Clyde Eldon Jackson early in 1938 or so? Is this the Mary North who is the grandmother of, and raised, Marita J. Bandy Cleaver of Concordia, Kansas, who has just recently died in December, 2007?

I posted earlier regading Lou Sinda and John Grinstead, particularly Lou Sinda (or Lucinda). I have come across some information that they were somehow related to a Cramer who was a nurse in Shattuck. I also know that their son, William Arthur Grinstead resided in Harmon for a number of years. John was among the early settlers staking his claim in 1893 and got a deed to his property in 1912. He passed away in Wichita KS in 1928 and Lucinda lived until 26 August 1943 when she died in Vici Township., Dewey County.
Lou and John also had three other children, Alice, Ida and Otte. Please check with your relatives who may remember something (anything) about this family. Thanks. Gidge Wilcox.

I am researching my family that lived in the Harmon area. My Grandfather was born near Leedey, but his mother's family lived in the Harmon area and had a store there.

John Francis Bridwell and wife Leah Rebecca are buried in the Harmon cemetery. They supposedly had a store there in Harmon in the early 1900's.

My grandfather moved from the Leedey area to Colorado in about 1910-12 by covered wagon and they stopped in Harmon at his mother's family's home.

Richard E Moberly
Grace Lane Bolender

Eldwin Francis Bolender

Mary Grace Bridwell & Robert Henry Bolender

John Francis Bridwell and Leah Rebecca (Arrington?)

I have an old photo of the store with various identified persons in front of it.
We will share anything we have with other family searchers.

Rich & Terri Moberly
Bartlesville, Oklahoma

According to the Ellis County Genweb site, there are 2 burials in the Lone Star Cemetery that are shown only as "Hall #1 and Hall #2. They are my Great Grandparents. Eli was married 4 more times.

> Minnie Logston Hall - born May 1878 in Missouri - Died 02 December 1910 in Woodward County, OK - married 1898 to George Riley Hall - born 21 February 1868 in Adair County, MO - died 17 June 1925 in Adair County, MO. George Riley Hall is a brother to Eli Thomas Hall. He was married 2 more times.

Each of the brothers lost their wife while in OK. If possible, will someone please send me a few photographs of the cemetery and if they can be found, the graves of these 2 Hall ladies.
I am researching my geneology. I am trying to locate any info regarding Eva Elizabeth Steinert, born in Tscherbakovka, Russia and married Leonhart Winter. They had several children including David which she died in childbirth with. David died shortly after. Leonhart later remarried Catherine Kuxhaus and came over to the USA and went into Okeene, Okla. However apparently some Steinert's that were perhaps Eva"s cousins had come to the USA earlier and lived in the Shattuck Okla area. They used to go visit Leonhart in Okeene and were still visiting his son, John Leonhart Winter that had married Mary Magdeline Haffner in Okeene where they lived. If any one cane help me find more info it would be appreciated. Mary Smith Denver
eva Elizabeth Steinert Winter is my great grandmother. John L Winter, their son is my grandfather.

Carvell Godfrey was my grandfather. After I received their marriage license, my sister and I made a trip to Cumberland Co. Il. We looked for a divorce but there was none. Illinois is where May Gillilan married Eugene Trent.

I would like to find where they divorced among other things.

I loved my grandfather, but he told a lot of tales that have turned out not to be true according to timelines I have followed.

My grandparents were very secretive about their past. I have been able to find both of them in every census except one, 1900. Do you know where grandpa was in 1900.

What relative's name might I recognize that would give me some idea who you are. We never knew many relatives on his side or hers.

Have you heard any stories that I might be interested in?

I guess I have rambled on long enough.

Thanks for responding.

Darla

Looking for any info. on family of Henry Franklin Ellis born in 1862. "Supposed" to be from Macomb. Came to Oregon sometime in 1870's to 1880's. Married Ella May White and fathered Ernest F. , Carrie, Oswald Kenneth, Gilbert, and Loren. I have full geneology after Henry F. (my great-grandfather) came to Oregon. Would love to find family from Missouri back. He was supposed to be one of several. "Some other Brothers may have came to Oregon also, possibly Ca." I would love any possible hits, and information. Thanks

She is listed as wife n the 1920 census.

Any help with finding where Sarah went, and possible where is buried would be greatly appreciated.

If someone has access to historical papers of the area that list Walters being shot or Sarah going into the hospital or the possible marriage between Maggie and Walter, I would appreciate hearing from them.

Thanks

Erny Long

They were married July 27, 1942.

I'm building a web page in honor of him, which is here:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~kscomanc/casteel_johnnie_lt_ww2.htm...

I'd be very grateful for copies of any articles about him published in the Shattuck area newspapers about his marriage or his death for use on the web page about him.

I would particularly like to find photos of him for use on the webpage.

Following is a description his actions which resulted in him being awarded the Silver Star:

"Lieut. Casteel, leader of a tank platoon, brought his tanks forward, wiped out one machine gun nest and moved out ahead of our lines. His tank was hit by fire from an enemy 88 mm gun and set afire. When Lieut. Casteel got out, he was taken prisoner and his weapons, together with his personal items, were taken from him.

Without regard for his personal safety, he grabbed the enemy soldier, threw him across a hedgerow toward our lines and jumped over behind him. He then dragged the enemy soldier at least fifty yards while under heavy fire from both the enemy and friendly troops. Though wounded, he turned his prisoner over to friendly troops and gave important directions regarding the location of the enemy tank before being carried away on a litter. Lieut. Casteel's exemplary courage reflects great credit upon himself and the military service."

Source: The Western Star, September 21, 1945:
"POSTHUMOUS AWARD TO LIEUTENANT CASTEEL,
Protection Officer Died In Action August 12, 1944."

I am searching for any documentation that would divulge the correct spelling of the surname Curren or Current. This was my great grandfather, Samuel C. Richard's middle name, and also the surname of his mother, N. Hannah Curren(t). The Curren(t) family was from Indiana, and none other than S.C. Richard migrated to Oklahoma. I am hoping that someone, somewhere will have some old document with S.C. Richard's middle name spelled out, as he thought it should be. He was a school teacher for many years, so his signature should have been widely dispersed throughout southern Ellis County.

Does anyone know if a record exists for the cemetery just south of Fargo, OK, that would list burial dates and where the body came from? I'm trying to figure out where my g-grandmother, Hattie Neiswender Peterson, died. I had always heard it was in Nevada, MO, but with the family being poor, don't really see how they could have brought the body back to Ellis County for burial. (Would have taken a lot of dry ice and I sure wouldn't have wanted to travel that far with it!)

Also, what newspapers were in existance that would publish obituaries from the Doris area in November of 1907 and in December 1908? Would they be on microfilm at the library in Woodward? Am trying to find Hattie's obit (died 19 December 1908) and of her father, William Neiswender, obit (died 4 Nov 1907)

Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Sheryl

Hi, I am reseraching my step fathers family and need to find out who Rev. Claude D. Clifft's parents were. I understand he was the Rev at Harmon Nazarene Church two different times. I also understand he and his wife, Elizabeth adopted some children by the last name of Powell. I know two of the children, would like to know if there are more and the names of the natural parents. Any information that mind help find out answers to these questions would be appreciated. I have some dates, no locations. Please email me @ tnelson@housing.ou.edu if you want to compare notes! Thanks, Tammie

I believe my grandmother is buried in Ellis County. I visited a cemetery in 1948. It was a quarter acre or less in size, located across the road from an old country school or church. Wolf Creek and sand dunes were close by. Susie Lela Wilson Howard was buried there in the mid-1940s. I believe she was a resident of that area since 1906/7. I believe the cemetery was a few miles north of a small town. Does anyone recognize this cemetery?

Thank you.

I am an avid Germans from Russia researcher (mostly in the Volga village of Shcherbakovka / aka Tscherbakovka and Muhlberg). My relatives immigrated to
Marion Co., KS and were part of the train load of 20-25 families that emigrated to Ellis Co., OK (mostly Shattuck). Would like to share info with others with similar
research. Also would like to find a list of the families who were on this train in the spring of 1901. Also would like to purchase a copy of "The History of Shattuck"
publ. in about 1975. I've done quite a bit on Russell, KS and Marion Co., KS and extracted the Germans from Russia on over 85 ships of immigrants (passenger
manifests). These can be seen on my webpage:http://www.angelfire.com/ks/gerrus/index.html

Our great uncle Perry W NORTH and his wife Mary E (Bess) had a farm in Ellis County according to a land patent dated 1910, and the census record of 1920.

We are trying to find out more about Perry and his wife, hopefully her surname, and if they had any children.

If you recognize these names and dates please contact me.
We have traced Perry's NORTH family back to 1765, and would love to share info.

George W. Alexander Palmer/Maggie Ingraham Palmer

I am looking for information on my Great Grandfathers sister Maggie Ingraham I believe that she may have moved from Dade County, Mo to Gage, Ellis County, Oklahoma in about 1883. I found a marriage between a George Palmer and a Margaret Ingraham that would have taken place in our around Arcola, or Greenfield, Mo. If this is was Maggie she would have been the daughter of Charles Ingraham Jr., and Cornelia Bain she would have more than likely been born before 1866 in Ill, as the youngest of the siblings was Clarence Cidney who was born in 1866 in Ill. She would have had one son Fred born in 1875 near Fort Scott, Kan., that her parents raised, and one son later possible after moving to Oklahoma or just before his name was Ernest Earl. My Great Grandparents named my Grandfather after this boy, he was suppose to have died in an accident as a child. It is possible that the first son was not mentioned as he was born out of wedlock he carried the name of Ingraham. I would be interest in any information on this family or any Ingraham family, thank you Taleah Wilkinson G.Great Grandaughter of Charles and Cornelia Bain Ingraham

Looking for relatives of Adam Walck who moved to Ellis County after living in Cowley County Kansas for awhile. I am descended from his brother Anthony J. Walck.

I have what I believe to be a picture of Anthony but it is not confirmed. Thought some of the Walcks in the area might be able to identify him.
