Thanks, Chris!

My gr grandfather had an uncle named Michael Pentoney. Michael's brothers & sister were: Patrick (my gg's father), James, John and Mary. Their father was Stephen Pentoney. They came to U.S. from County Meath, near Dougherty Ireland about 1840, as far as we know. If your Micheal was born in 1918, he may be a descendant of one of them. I hope your mother-in-law knows where your Michael lived in this country.

We don't live far from Orange Co. Thanks for doing this for me!

I must have done a typo on the year, it was 1819. These Pentoneys went from Ireland to West Virginia, to Ohio, to California.

I have the paper at home. I'll try to write you back from home when I can look at the paper we have.

Hope you had a nice mother's day!

Chris,I'm just getting back to this. Did you find any more information about your Pentoneys who went from Ireland to West Virginia to Ohio? My ggf Patrick Pentoney (about 1845, died 1889) lived in Cleveland, Ohio. His father was Patrick also. My ggf had an aunt Mary and uncles Michael, James & John.

I'm quite certain that I must have Pentoney cousins out there somewhere. My ggf was one of the Pentoney brothers who were butchers in Cleveland.

Chris,

I have been working on your family for some time. Unfortunately you have reached a point where someone is posting information they must made up. I would appreciate knowing any passed down "family stories" you have heard about where your Whitwell family came from before TN. In return I can send you much info. Please write directly at:
