The family line I have is: Hugh Klauk, son of Edward & Birdie Boseke. Hugh married Elsie (wasn't certain of her maiden name) but I did have their girls as Marjorie and Mary Lou, so this must be the same family! Most of the info I have is on the Boseke line which is my paternal line, but do have some info on the Klauk line. Why not e/mail me and let me know what info you do have and I'll try and fill in any blanks with what I have. My e/mail follows: scraddock2@insightbb.com Can't wait to touch base with you!

I was hoping someone may have the 1940 Yearbook in Faxon or possibly Lawton, OK to see if there is a picture of a janitor name Notley Smoot.

According to the 1940 Census, Notley is living in Faxon, OK and his occupation is a school janitor at a school. It does not say which one. I try looking up the 1930 Census, but late at night, not everything is working correctly.. Notley died in 1955 and is buried in Faxon Cemetery.

Thank you!

Edgar was my grandpa. I am his oldest son's daughter. I was also told my grandpa grew up in Oklahoma before moving to Oregon. Which is where I am, and our family still resides today. If you can find out more info I would love to hear from you. Thanks so much-
Amanda

Cemetery on or near Mt. Scott

Would like to know the name of an Indian mission cemetery close to or on Mt. Scott. My husband's great-grandparents were buried there in 1914 and 1916. Their names were Thomas G. and Sarah Rife Welch. Their daughter and son-in-law were working as missionaries there on Mt. Scott.
Later, after the daughter had moved to another area of OK, she had their bodies moved to the Rose Hill Burial Park in OK City.
I would like to know if anyone would know the name of this cemetery, or if there are any books giving the burials in this cemetery. I've been looking in the libraries in TX but haven't had any luck.
Thanks so much for any help.
Margaret

james Lawley lived in Oklahoma abt 1930

Looking for information on James (A.? E.?) Lawley circa early 20th C. My information indicates that my great grandmother, Pearl (A.?) Shawver (b. about 1880) married James Lawley in 1903 in Kansas City, KS (her parents were living in KS, perhaps Osawatomie, by that time). He lists on his marriage cert. his 1872 place of birth as Dalhart, Texas. Pearl Shawver, when single, lived in Trinidad in 1900 with Clarence Waller and her sister Lilly May Waller (nee Shawver). After marriage in 1903 the Lawleys might have gone back and forth between Trinidad and Dalhart, which were fairly close and linked by rail. Pearl Lawley appears as a store clerk in the 1910 Trinidad city directory, and living with the Wallers and her 2 boys--born in Dalhart in 1904 and 1905-- but then disappears after that. At some point Pearl and James Lawley seperated for some reason, and when Pearl died in about 1920, Clarence C. and Lillie May Waller of Trinidad adopted or took guardianship of the Lawley boys, James Kenneth (my grandfather) and Eugene.

Perhaps coincidentally, Clarence Waller was a railroad engineer with Colorado and Southern (C&S)Railroad. Dalhart's rail lines were taken over by C&S Railroad in 1899. The James Lawley I'm looking for may have been working on that railroad (explaining how they met. I did find a James Lawley living (after service in WWI) with a Mary Lawley in Tacoma, WA, working in 1920 as a rail engineer. He may have later divorced and gone to live with relatives in Comanche County Oklahoma.

She has Alzheimer and does not remember who anyone is, other than that she is healthy. Her headstone is blank because of that. Her husband was Orba Standridge Sr. buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, OK, as well as all three of her children.

I'm still trying to piece together the circumstances behind my grandmother's birth in Lawton, Ok. in 1909. Her name was Nell Marie ROUTH.

Her father was Joseph Hayden Routh, Jr., born April 30, 1872 in Plum Grove, Fayette County, Texas and died December 24, 1915 in Ballinger, Runnels County, Texas.

Her mother was Nellie Lee Gregory who married J.H. Routh on May 2, 1906. She was born January 1, 1883 in LaGrange, Fayette County, Texas and died May 27, 1951 in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas.

This was the second marriage for J.H. Routh, Jr., and this marriage produced three children:

Kathryn Routh was born February 14, 1908 in Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma and died October 20, 1979 in Orange, California.

Nell Marie Routh was born May 20, 1909 in Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma and died March 21, 1988 in Santa Ana, Orange County, California.

Will Edwin Routh was born May 27, 1911 in Andrews, Andrews County, Texas and died October 16, 1999 in Brazoria County, Texas.

J.H. Routh Jr. lived in Ballinger, Runnels County up until (at least) 1906. Sometime after marrying his 2nd wife, Nellie Lee Gregory, he evidently pulled up stakes and moved to Oklahoma - as their first child was born there in February 1908. Stayed in Ok. through - at least - May of 1909, perhaps later. Then, their 3rd child was born in far West Texas (Andrews, Andrews County) in 1911.

Hope to hear from descendants of this family who might be able to help explain the reason why this family had a brief stay in Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma shortly after the turn of the last century.

Thanks.
