I have located some records for this cemetery, I now want descendants of people buried here who are available to help clean and maintain this cemetery. I would help place a marker on my grandmother's grave if the cemetery were to be maintained in the future. I have a cousin who is also interested in doing this. It would be a lovely little cemetery if and when it is cleaned up and maintained. I personally think it is a crime and a sin to allow our ancestors grave to become overgrown to the point of not even being able to place flowers on the grave. Pardon me, if I have gone a little overboard with this query, I need Help! Thanks, Guyetta

Are you intending to assist with the clean up and care of the cemetery now and indefinitely in the future?? It is VERY unclear from your post. I am a great grand daughter of Elsie Joan Garrison and am thus related to many in this cemetery including, Garrisons, Paytons and Davis'. I have always loved this cemetery and visited several times as a child. At that time, my family were, to my knowledge, the ONLY ones maintaining it (specifically, my Great Aunt Geneva's family - she is E. Joan's daughter...she is now quite elderly and unable to do so alone and her children have all married and moved away and are not able as well) I have only just now rediscovered it's location while trying to do research on my family (We have lost touch with most of our extended family and my mother had forgotten how to get to it) I think you might want to be a little more understanding of descendents in your post. Between great grandparents on both sides and more recent family, I have family in close to a dozen cemeteries (just on my side...not including my husbands!) and there simply isn't time to maintain them all. This is an extremely old cemetery and has thus lost many who even know it exists. My husband and I are going out there tomorrow and can do a bit (although I don't know how much since it's going to be 98 deg.!), but we live in OKC, have full time jobs and 2 small children. My entire family (and I mean back to my great aunt!) lives that far and farther and, of course, have lives and jobs and can only do so much. We will help as much as we can, but you might want to phrase a request for help in the future with a little more kindness, understanding and more sign of what you, yourself are willing to do! (All I can see that you are willing to do from your post is HELP buy your grandmother a new marker...not much motivation for me to get out there and work my butt off for that! :) Also, it's not very nice to tell people how terrible they are (crime and sin etc.), and then ask them for help....try the "flies and honey" approach!

Thanks,
