Nancy Walkingstick was a Thomas before she married. This will cause a huge fight but I know for a fact that Wilson Walkingstick father was John Walkingstick and Rachels child. Wilson did not want his children to go to an "Indian" school so he lied about who his mother was. This came from my grandmother who was Mary T Walkingstick one of his oldest daughters. Wilson did what he had to at the time to keep his children. And I don't blame him, even though it made us less Indian. I have a picture of Nancy and Wilson and even though they are older you can tell that Wilson was an old settler. Also the James Walkingstick that everyone hooks children to is also false. James Walkingstick had 2 sons who were old settlers. Wilson and Levi Walkingstick. James died from an injury in the Civil war, so did Levi as far as I can tell. Back in 1970 I found out alot of this from family members who were at that time still alive. Mary Walkingstick is listed as Mary C. and for us to get our card I had to prove she was Mary T. Walkingstick. I'm still proud of Wilson as that man did love his children.
