Searching for info where Cynthia Whiteley Bohannon is buried. She was the daughter of Isaac Whiteley. Born Feb. 14, 1824 in White, Tennessee. She married Joseph Bohannon after 1840 in Madison, Ark. She died in 1909 at Proctor, Adair County, Oklahoma. Buried in "Indian Cemetery", Oklahoma. Any other info about Cynthia would be appreciated. Her mother is just listed as "Johnston".

Hello,
Cynthia (Whiteley) Bohannon is buried in the Proctor Cemetery near Proctor, OK. I can't remember if it is in Adair or Cherokee co, OK. She married Joseph Bohannon. Their daughter, Elizabeth Ann Bohannon married a cousin, Joseph Lee "Tobe" Martin, son of Cynthia's sister, Janette Johnson and her husband, James W. C. Martin.
I am Eddene Hightower Thompson, widow of Cynthia (Whiteley) Bohannon's great-great-great-grandson, Newt Thompson who passed away 9 January 2006. I have worked on both of our family trees for 34 years and have been in contact with quite a number of older workers/kinfolks who had worked on the family. As far as I know, there is no known indian proof that has ever been found. This is a common factor in many, many families although we have all heard the stories of our people being indian and/or having been some of them who traveled the Trail of Tears, etc.
I would be glad to share by email or a gedcom file the info that I have in my computer on the descendants and ancestors of Cynthia. If there is a particular line that you just want info on then I can do that too.
I am inserting the ancestry of Cynthia Whiteley but there is much more on allied families and the Bohannons. My husband was descended through Cynthia's daughter, Elizabeth Ann who married Joseph "Tobe" Martin. When they moved to the Proctor/Welling, Ok area, Cynthia moved with them, too, as her husband was passed on. About 1978, my mother-in-law, Ola Belle (Kay) Thompson and I visited the area, met a great-granddaughter, Lucy (Brock) Brown of the area and she took us around to the cemeteries, etc. She showed us that on the south side of Elizabeth Bohannon Martin's grave was where Cynthia Bohannon was buried. I don't believe there was a stone. Newt and I also visited some of the Bohannon's near the old homeplace near Hindsville, Madison Co, AR about that same time and the two brothers told us about the old grandmother who lived to be over 100 years old that died over there at Proctor. They knew about her and that confirmed it for us.
I have not been in touch with any of the kinfolk about the family tree in a very long time so I don't have anyone to pass you on to. If I can help you more I would be glad to.
I am planning on moving in with my daughter and her family soon so I can't give you a positive address, but my email (OkieEddy@yahoo.com) will always be active, as it has been my main email since 1998. Contact me if you want to.
Sincerely, Eddene Hightower Thompson aka Mrs. Newt Thompson for 45 years.
