Excuse me, I don't understand your post. Jeremiah Cullen is in the 1860 and 70 census. He is living with daughter Mary's family under her husband Michael Gilligan b abt 1825 possible Sligo, Ireland. Dubuque Co, Iowa. Jeremiah was only in OH for a short time between late 1852 until Feb 1857 when Mary is married in Dubuque Co.

Jeremiah b abt1793/7 several age references. 1824 he is on the tilth list in Grangecon, Baltinglass, Dublin. 1848 is in Grangecon, Ballynure, Wicklow. Catherine same age as Jeremiah possible 2nd wife. Mary age at sailing April 1852 as 17. A chrch record for 1822 Mary daughter of Jeremiah Cullen and Ellen. If it's her. Sailing dates for Jeremiah and Catherin are 50 and 49.

What is your reason for wanting to know if your not related?

I have had very good luck finding obituaries by writing, emailing, or calling the main branch of the local library where the person died. Libraries usually have old newspapers on microfilm and usually research for free or very low copy fees. In your case, I would contact http://www.norwalk.lib.oh.us/

I am also finding several records that appear to be related to your aunt on ancestry.com, Shows a birth on 24 Dec 1961, Lima Ohio. Shows a marriage to Jeffrey Ramsey on 13 Dec 1980 in Huron County, Oh.

Hope this helps

I am looking for my aunt's obit. Her name was Mary Beth Ramey (maiden name Perry) and she passed away September 8, 1995 in Norwalk, Ohio (Huron County). I believe she was born in 1962 in Ohio, but I don't know what city or county. Every site I find wants me to pay for a membership, but there's no guarantee that they've even found what I'm looking for. If anyone knows where or how I can find this information I'd really appreciate the help! Thank you!

Samantha

Jeremiah Cullen wife Catherine and daughter Mary left their home in Grangecon Hill, Balltinglass, Wicklow, Ireland. They lived on the land of David Mahoney and Jeremiah was his representative and gardner. They sailed April 1852 from New Ross, Wexford, Ireland to Quebec, Canada on the ship Baroncy. We don't know how long they stayed in Canada if at all. We do know that they spent a little time in Ohio and by Dec 1857 they are in Bankston, Dubuque Co. Iowa where Mary married Michael Gilligan. We think they may have spent some time with family in Ohio but not sure. I'm pretty sure they had Bankston as their goal. At that time there was
word around that Bankston was a good place to go in America.
Any Cullens in Ohio that know of a family matching mine please contact me.
Paulina A. KENNEDY and John K. RICHARDS were married 21 Aug 1855 in Brown County Ohio by ? A. Van Dyke, Minister of the Gospel.

Do your records agree that George died before 1900? Was his sister mentioned in his death notice?

You may want to contact the library in Sausalito CA, the last known address (April 1910) of the Richardses. Their website > http://www.ci.sausalito.ca.us/Index.aspx?page=723 says they have digitized all issues of the local newspaper from Feb 1885 to Dec 1922. Hopefully they have a name-to-date index.

Bill

Much later info on whom, it seems both children were deceased by the 1900 census.
Did Mary marry, any idea who?
familysearch.org has Ohio marriages 1874-1885, but list only name of birth & groom and marriage date, you would find a parents signature on it if she was underage when she married.
good luck in your search
Is this the Amos Allen you are looking for? If so, then the records for Vermilion and Champaign Counties are probably not the correct family. They are no where near LaSalle Co.

Name:	Amos Allen
Age:	55
Birth Year:	abt 1795
Birthplace:	New York
Home in 1850:	Deer Park, LaSalle, Illinois
Gender:	Male
Family Number:	1173
Household Members:
Name	Age
Amos Allen	55
Malinda Allen	55
James Sperry	53

I may be way off but I wonder if the Laura Allen living with Phineas Allen in 1870 was actually Laura Way. There is a death certificate for a Laura Barrett who was born in LaSalle Co and lived in Saratoga Springs.

Name	Laura M. Barrett
Titles and Terms (Original)
Event Date	21 Apr 1931
Event Place	Chicago, Cook, Illinois
Gender	Female
Marital Status
Race
Age	81
Birth Year (Estimated)	1850
Birth Date	17 Feb 1850
Birthplace	OTTAWA, ILLS. [This is LaSalle Co]
Father's Name	Hiram Way
Father's Titles and Terms
Father's Birthplace	ELMIRA, NEW YORK
Mother's Name	Herietta Allan
Mother's Titles and Terms
Mother's Birthplace	VERMONT
Occupation	AT HOME
Residence Place
Address
Spouse's Name	Beebe R. Barrett
Spouse's Titles and Terms (Original)
Spouse's Birthplace
Burial Date	25 Apr 1931
Burial Place	SARATOGA SPRINGS, NEW YORK
Cemetery	LOCAL

Beebe and Laura married in 1873 and were found in the 1875 New York census.
Name: Laura M Barrett
Titles and Terms:
Event Type: Census
Event Date: 1875
Event Place: Saratoga Springs, Saratoga, New York, United States
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Relationship to Head of Household: Wife
Birth Year (Estimated): 1850
Family Number: 239
Page: 32
Line Number: 31
GS Film number: 559006
Digital Folder Number: 004327094
Image Number: 00426
Household	Gender	Age	Birthplace
B R Barrett	M	25	Saratoga
Wife Laura M Barrett	F	25	Illinois
Son	Raymond C Barrett	M	1	Saratoga

The 1850 census shows the following in LaSalle Co, right next to Amos Allen.

Name:	Hiram Way
Age:	37
Birth Year:	abt 1813
Birthplace:	New York
Home in 1850:	Deer Park, LaSalle, Illinois
Gender:	Male
Family Number:	1172
Household Members:
Name	Age
Hiram Way	37
Harriet Way	33
Leonard Way	6
Wm H Way	4
Mary A Way	0
Henrietta Allen	21

Was Hiram messing around with his sister-in-law? If that is what Henrietta was. Or should the death certificate say her mother was Harriet? The 1860 census is difficult to read, but there does not appear to be a Laura in the home of Hiram and Harriet.

Name:	Thomas Way
[Hiram Way]
[Hiram Way]
Age in 1860:	48
Birth Year:	abt 1812
Birthplace:	New York
Home in 1860:	Deer Park, LaSalle, Illinois
Gender:	Male
Post Office:	Deer Park
Thomas Way	48
Homie Way	45
Leonard Way	16
William Way	14
Homie Way	10
Phineas Way	6
Samu Allen	10

So I don’t know if Laura Way Barrett was an illegitimate birth or if census data is not picking up on all family member and relationships.

I would suggest you check out the records at the LaSalle Co Genealogy Guild Website.
http://www.lscgg.org/lscgg_search.html

Marriages
364	ALLEN, AMOS UTTER, MALINDA	Apr 15, 1840
1634	WAY, PHINEAS FRANK	JENKINS, TERESA	AUG 05, 1876

Probate File
ALLEN, AMOS	1855	Box A	File 46
This probate may hold the answers for you concerning Laura.

If you're still interested in the Vermilion/Champaign family here is the 1870 census for Laura and Oliver Mcglaughlin.

Name:	Laura Mcglaughlin
Age in 1870:	20
Birth Year:	abt 1850
Birthplace:	Illinois
Home in 1870:	Vance, Vermilion, Illinois
Race:	White
Gender:	Female
Post Office:	Fairmount
Oliver Mcglaughlin	22
Wm Mcglaughlin	18
Laura Mcglaughlin	20
Cora Mcglaughlin	3/12
Frances Mcglaughlin	4
Mary Mcglaughlin	20

I came across your query and found the following on Find A Grave. Justus Allen died March 1860.

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=al...;

An 1878 marriage license for Abram Y Allen, age 20, says his father was Justus Allen and his mother Margaret Custer. Margaret was buried in the same cemetery as Justus as are other Custer family members. In 1870 Abram was in the home of A J Allen who had married Catherine Jane Allen in 1859 in Champaign Co. In 1860 Abram had been in Vermilion County (middle initial appears as P in this census) with his mother. The Hays family was next door.

The marriage records can be found on FamilySearch or on the index found at the Illinois Archives Website.

I am trying to figure out who he is related to.. Not finding him on 1860 ILL census with wife and family so assuming he died around 1858-1860 in ILL
..
Would anyone have any info on this family listed on 1850 Vermillion Illinois census?? Trying to make connection with Amos Allen and Mary Fletcher. Amos and family moved to ILL from NY in 1834 and Amos died in 1854 in Vermillion.

1850 Vermillion
Justice Allen b. 1819 OHIO
Margaret Allen b. 1821 Ohio
Catherine Allen b. 1840 Ohio
Angelina Allen b. 1843 Ohio
Augustus Allen b. 1845 Ohio

In 1860, Justice is not with family so assuming he died??

1860 Vermillion
Margaret Allen / 40
Augustus Allen / 14
Laura Allen / 8
Abram P. Allen / 1

In 1870, Saratoga Springs NY
I find a Laura Allen, age 18, living with Phineas Allen
and Rebecca. Also with them is Estella Allen, age 10. I think Estella was born after census was taken in 1860 (Oct-Dec)

Phineas Allen is a son of Amos and Margeret Fletcher Allen.
Phineas Allen and Rebecca Thurber got married in 1866 in NY so don't think. Laura or Estelle are their children..Family was livning in Saratoga Springs, NY. Phineas was a lawyer and a CW Veteran. He died in 1892 in Saratoga Springs. NY

Estella/stella is listed on 1875 saratoga census, born NY-adopted. Not able to find Laura fter 1870. Think she got married.. I am trying to find them..

So would anyone know who Justin Allen b. 1819 Ohio is related to..??

Amos Allen 1784-1854 is a descendant of Ebenezer Allen 1676-1770 and Sarah Waight.

Thanks in advance..

My mother was an Inspector and my father was a Shoe Rounder. I have a photo of a large group of men and women, some wearing 'work' clothes, others in 'dress' clothes.
I would be glad to share if anyone is interested. I think the photo was taken in the early to mid 30's because my parents were married in 1935.

Hi -- My maternal grandma was a Distelhorst. She grew up (with six sisters) on a truck garden property on Harmon Rd. in west Columbus. Her father was Herman Distelhorst, mother Mary Kreile. Herman was a son of George Distelhorst, who came from Detmold, Germany. I believe Herman had several brothers and at least one sister. My mom, who is now deceased, told me that he supplied fresh fruits and vegetables for his brothers' groceries in west Columbus. I also know that there was a Distelhorst creamery in Cols. My niece has a cottage cheese crock that my mother inherited. Hope this helps. Dan

Sweisgood family

Hello, I am searching for more information on the Sweisgood family. More specifically, Paul Sweisgood (my grandfather) who was born in Ohio in 1898 and died in 1960 Buffalo, NY ,married Eunice Stouffer and had 5 children. I know he and Eunice divorced but not sure when. He never remarried. His parents are Charles E Sweisgood who was born in about 1873 Ohio and has a sister named Lily May who was born in Doylestown Ohio on October 18 1875. Their parents names are John Sweisgood born 1n Germany 1845 and Mary Draime born in 1853 Ohio. I think Paul's mother's name is Helen but not sure, don't know her maiden name. I do know that they chaged their name to Sweisgood in the 1920's from Schweisguth or something like that. This is all the info I have, I know it's not that much and I would love to find out more. I Would appreciate any help. Thank you.
