I am still searching for information on my McMullen family of Ohio. Specifically Harold C. McMullen b1892 in Springhope, PA. d1970 in Lima, Ohio. Married Alice Mitchell and they had 7 children. Any information would be appreciated.

I'm looking for more information on Samuel Rowe and his family.

Samuel Rowe was born 16 Apr 1847 in Ohio (Germantown?)and died on May 7, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio. He married Mary E. Walton, b. Mar 3, 1850 in Ohio and d. Jul 9, 1905 in Dayton, Ohio.

They had 11 kids, but can only find nine of them, they were all born in Ohio:

Frank - b. 1868
Georgina - b. 1869
William H. - b. 1875
Lewis T. - b. 1876
Leona M. - b. 1878
Harvey W. - b. 1887
Donald Ray - b. 1889
Elsie M. - b. 1891
Pearl - b. 1893

I have all the US Census - 1870, 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 I can't find an 1880 census for them??

I'm also looking for Samuel's parents, I think his Father's name is John Floyd and possibly Margaret.

Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated :)

Looking for further information on the family of Joseph O'Malley born August 1833 Canada married about 1871 Albertine aka Eliza unknown. Children: Forest F. born June 1872 Ohio and Howard M. born August 1873 Ohio.

Joseph O'Malley died about 1904 probably Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Albertine remarried Delos Root or Rust??.

Forest F. O'Malley also lived Chagrin Falls, Ohio and later Highland, San Bernardina CA ~ Albertine (his mother) living with them in 1920 census. Children of Forest F. O'Malley: Thelma born 1898 Ohio and Winifred born 1910 Ohio.

Believe Joseph O'Malley had a sister, Mary Jane O'Malley who married Willard Reed of Westfield Vermont.

Parents of Joseph and his sister Mary Jane O'Malley or anything further on these families appreciated.

On 12/2/1852 she married Abram/Absolem Hyler in Morrow County, OH.

Please help - Looking for St. Onge in Ohio!

I am at my wits end! I am trying to locate the births of at least 2 of the St. Onge children from Olivier St. Onge (b. 1849) and Marie Louise Gaudet (b. 1854). Either their obituary or census has said they were born in Ohio although I can find no record of it. It's very strange because the parents and the 3 other children (Alfred, George and Eugenie) were all born in Canada.

Albert St. Onge was born on 11 JUL 1877
Marie St. Onge was born 08 AUG 1879

Can anyone help me to verify their births, baptisms, or anything? Possibly in Clinton Iowa?

Willard and Mary Jane living Chagrin Falls, Ohio in 1880, nothing further known of them after that ~ hoping to find death/burial record.

Ditlev Gotthard Monrad Bach the son Peder Tøfting Nielsen Bach and Kirsten Marie Nielsen.

Peder Tøfting Nielsen Bach was my great-grandmother, Ane Nielsen Bach/Bak Hulgaard's brother.

My great-grandmother's brother, Peder Tøfting Bach and his wife Kirsten Marie sailed to America from Denmark in 1896 on the ship called Norge out of Frederikshavn, Denmark bound for Worcester, Mass. with their children:

Emma Sofie Caroline Bach aged 11 3/4
Ditlev Gotthard Mourad Bach aged 9
Gerda Malvine Kirstine Bach aged 7
Johannes Andreas Christian Bach aged 04 3/4
Hilma Valborg Bach aged 2
Emmann Bach ... would have been one year old in August of 1896

All the children were born in Thisted, Denmark as was their dad Peder Tøfting Bach. Peder and his wife Kirsten were married in Tilsted, Thisted Amt. in Denmark.

The Ellis Island record show that the family did arrive in U.S.A.

Another two children were born in the U.S.A. - Alwyn (Alwin, Alvin) E. Bach, born Jan 24, 1898 in Massachusetts, probably Worcester and Hazel Mergretta Bach, born May 21, 1901 in Worcester, Massachusetts.

A very kind person looked up the obituary for Ditlev Gotthard Monrad Bach using the information other helpful people had found as can be seen below.

Ditlev G.M. Bach died in Fresno, California at the age of 86 in 1974. In the obituary his sister Valborg is mentioned as living in Cincinnati.

Ditlev G.M. Bach is in The Social Security Death Index lists SSN 567-50-0869, born 2 Apr 1887, died Mar 1974, last residence 93702 Fresno, Fresno, CA. The California Death Index 1940-1997 gives his birthplace as other country and his place of death as Fresno, SSN the same as above.

I would really like to find a living relative or relatives to share information and stories.

With help from a kind person, I know:

The 1913 Worcester City, Mass. Directory shows:
Gerda M. Bach, Valborg's sister, a milliner bds 149 Institute Rd.
John A. Bach her brother as ILL (meaning he moved to Chicago, likely in 1912)
VALBORG, retoucher, 328 Main bds 149 Institute rd (Main would be the address of the employer)

and the 1918 Directory also for Worcester, Mass. shows:
Alwyn E.W. Bach rem to Springfield
H VALBORG artist 476 Main rm 22
Oscar, N. A. Bach bds 199 Belmont (unrelated the person who helped thought)
Peter T Bach gardener h 149 Institute rd ... Peter T Bach was VALBORG's father Peter/Peder Tøfting Bach.

and also the 1920 and 1921 Directory also for Worcester, Mass shows:
H VALBORG as a nurse at Memorial Hospital, boarding at the same address as in 1918. She disappears from the directories for Worcester, Mass in 1922.

Any information about (Hilma) Valborg Bach, born in Thisted, Denmark on June 30, 1893 would be appreciated.

My great grandmother Hattie Britton was born in Ohio on Nov. 28,1864. Her father was Burwell Britton and her mother was Martha Boyd. I am searching for where in Ohio her family lived. Her husband was Albion K. Peterson. He was 66 years old when he died. He died in 1924. He was also born in Ohio. They both died in Ft. Worth. His father was WM Peterson and his mother was Maggie Kain. I would appreciate any help I could get.

Joseph Moran married Hazel (maiden name unknown) who had two children Joseph and Edward. They lived their from what I can tell their entire life. James married Mary Carrol in 1916 had three children Dorothy, James and Susan and then moved to Philadelphia Pennsylvania and had more children (6). I am hopimg to find someone in Ohio that may have a 1922 Waynesfield High School yearbook, Auglaize County. Looking for a graduation picture of gr-grandmother, LUCILE A. RITCHIE.

I learned Old yearbooks from the school are held by the Auglaize County Public Library in Wapakoneta, Auglaize Co. They conducted a search and did not find one for 1922.
Other sources I contacted that I have not heard back from as yet are, the Auglaize County Historical Society, Ohio Genealogical Society and the Allen County Ohio Museum Library. I understand they may have a shortage of volunteers during the summer months to do research requests, which is why I am appealing to readers in Ohio that may have a copy of this 1922 yearbook.

Looking for John Fogle UPDATE

Thank you to everyone who helped me with this. I have found out that John Wesley Fogle was born Jan. 28, 1928 and died August 22, 1951 in Coshocton Ohio. He is buried in Northwood Cemetery. His parents were John W. Fogle and Gladys Blackstone Fogle.
My husband is interested in talking to any relatives of his father, John. He was only 1 1/2 yrs old when John died in a motorcycle accident.

I am searching for information on an EDNA born in the summer of 1925 in a Mid=Western State. I was told she was from OHIO. She was of Irish & Cherokee Indian decent.
She had dark hair and hazel eyes with very long eyelashes.

Her parents died when she was young. Her mother died when she was 5 yrs old and she went to live with her maternal grandmother on a farm. Her father died when she was 11 yrs old.

Edna only went through 7th grade. She was living in Miami, Florida from 1942-1947 and worked as a bar maid, waitress,housekeeper,babysitter and elevator operator. Most of time worked as bar maid. Her best girl friend's name was Glory Jean.

EVANS may have been a family name.

I am trying to find information on Danilia Amanda Campbell, born Sept 1858 in Ohio, and died March 1941 in Idaho. She was married to Cimotto Norris. Do not know when or where she was married.

I'm so excited that I have to share this with everyone!

FamilySearch has started something I urged Ancestry to do ages ago - they've begun a volunteer indexing program that makes MILLIONS of records available for FREE! They offer up their ridiculously immense microfilm library in image format, and we, the people, index them page by page - a few minutes at a time - to create a free microfilm search for everyone.

I just found dozens of my family's death certificates, and made a ton of connections through it. Sending away for these records takes weeks - even months - and a lot of money. Also, you have to know what you're requesting to get the copies.

The Family Search Lab offers up an index that *includes* parents' names. I was able to search for children of my great-grandparents, leaving the actual name blank, and determined a handful of other family members I would have otherwise not known of (including babies!).

They also have parish records, census records, and more.

It doesn't seem to be TOTALLY complete, as it is missing a few names that I've found in a book version of the Ohio death index, but it has just about everything that the Ohio genealogical society's website offers. And we're talking about actual images - not just an index!

Looking for information on Della Hager D.O.B 6/15/1907. This is my biological grandmother. She is a Hager originally from Lincoln Co West Virginia. She married Dannie (Daniel A) Hill D.O.B. 8/1/1906. They married in 1924, they listed their DOB as 1903, with the same dates. They had atleast 9 children beginning in 1925 with Hazel M Hill. In 1942, Della's children were taken away by CPS in Franklin Co Ohio. By 1947 the youngest ones were adopted out. My mother is JoAnn Darlene Hill DOB 5/29/42. All of the children were born at home. On my mother's birth certificate it states the address of her father as UNKNOWN. The mother is listed as Hubbard St, Columbus Ohio. We are longing to find our family, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, any living relatives, as I promised my mother when she died. We are looking for John Fogel born in Ohio between 1920 - 1930 and died 1949 - 1950. My husband was told that this is his birth father. The story is that he was on his way to pick up my husbands mother to marry her when he died in a car accident. She was pregnant with twins. They were born in Feb 1950. I have searched everywhere and cannot locate any information. She was born in Cambridge. She is still alive but has Alzheimers. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it.

Looking for EDNA with Evans connections

Edna was a birth mother. Edna may have been a middle name she used. Evans was a family name. (this was told to me by my adoptive mother).

Edna was born in the summer of 1925 in a Mid-Western state.
She was 5'5" tall with dark hair and hazel eyes with very long black eye lashes. She had a darker complexion, of Irish-Cherokee Indian decent and of the Baptist faith.

Her mothr died when she was 5 and her father died when she was 11. She was sent to her maternal grandmother's and lived on a farm (this may have been in Ohio).

Edna only went through 7th grade. She did not like sports much but did love to read and sew.

She lived in Miami, FL from 1942 - 1947. Employment included: bar maid and waitress, housekeeper, baby sitter and elevator operator. (most of the time she was a bar maid).

I was placed for adoption in Aug 1946. She supposedly was married shortly after this to a man that was not my birth father. Apparently was was in a poor financial status. She did not really want to give me up. I think she needed financial help but this new husband did not want me since I was born out of wedlock. Edna moved back to her home state with her new husband after the adoption was final.
(my adoptive mother stated that she went back to Ohio).

Does anyone with the Evans surname know this person?

how to find a birth record?

hi, i have an ancestor, raymond l. ward, who was born in ohio in 1886. the problem is that from what i understand ohio's birth records are arranged by county and i have no idea in what county the birth occurred. the family was not from ohio and i have no idea why he was born there but every piece of documentation we have, several census and draft registration cards, he states his place of birth as ohio.

is there any way to find out where he was born?

any advice, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Don't know who his parents were other than his father may have been from Kentucky and mother from Pennsylvania. William is living with John and Hester / Easter YOUNG from PA in 1856 in Jefferson Co. Iowa, and may have been there since 1852.

I am trying to find information on the parents of John T. Wilson. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1806/07. He married Maria Stone in Coshocton County in 1835. All of his children were born in Ohio. His children were, John, Mary Elizabeth, Cassandra Jane, Sarah Rebecca, Lucius, Robert Lee, George, Smith, and Samuel.

I have just found my first US born family member, whose parents (Edward and Emily Hopper went to US from the UK, landing according to info received in New York in June 1883, saying they are bound for Ohio. they went on to have a child born 12 June 1885, Ethel Christine Hopper, who by 1891 was back with uncles/aunts in the UK.

no luck searching on ancestry for them, anyone uncovered/connected with them who would like a UK relation!!

Not sure of county, may be Licking Co. or Hamilton Co., I need a census look up for Owen Owens, b: Wales. He was a Baptist minister and made new churches in Licking Co--Homer,Burington, Twp, Liberty and Genoa in 1823. I guess birth was around 1800. There's Owen Owens in the 1820 census in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., whom I don't know for sure is the same person. I thought the 1840 and 1850 census would shed some light on him.

Need a 1860 look up for the family Chalfant,Chalfont, Chalfunt for a daughter, Mary E. b: 1852,OH. This family must have been living in OHIO in 1850. Don't have more info except she ended up in VanBuren, IA in 1868 when she married a Henry Drake, b: IA in 1843 whose parents were from OH. I suppose this family moved to IA from OHIO bef 1843.

Anyone know if this is true? Someone told me that there's a law in Ohio which says that you can't sell cemetery plots for more than what they were purchased for. Is that true?

My elderly Mom owns 2 plots in a cemetery on Rt. 20 between Bellevue, OH and Clyde, OH, and would like to sell them. So, I need to find out if this actually is a law, or a rumor. Thanks for your help!

Brick Wall: James was born in Cincinatti, OH, possibly to Ralph Brown, on 18 Feb 1868. He died in Fresno, CA on 18 Feb 1951. He married Nellie Schrum in Fresno and had 3 children. I am the descendant from of one the children in California.

Their was rumor that the family was from Northern Scotland, but just not certain.

I have the census info from 1900 forward, but am trying to trace back from his birth and find his family information. Anyone with any clues would be greatly appreciated!!

Early Pioneer Records? -- ELLIOTT

Hello all, I'm new to this board but all my Elliotts, well most, lived in Wayne Co from about 1820 on. Some moved to Medina County, Seville and Akron in Summit County. I now live in Portage County, OH and am thinking of coming to Rittman and then to Wooster to do research. My goal is to find evidence so that I can apply for Early Pioneer status. How are the early 1800 records in this county? Will I be able to find cemetery records (I looked in findagrave none are there now), marriage records, etc there so that if I spend a day it would be worth my time? Gas you know is expensive! :)
