I have been able to trace my Marshall side back to a David C (supposedly Crocket) Marshall born 1856 in Louisville, KY and died in 1941 in Dayton, OH. All I know is that his father was born in KY and was named William Marshall. I know his mother was Anna Botts (or Betts) according to his death certificate. I cannot find any records for a William Marshall born in KY (I assume somewhere around 1820 or thereabouts since Anna Botts was born around 1820 in KY also). I find several William Marshalls, but none of them seem to have a child named David. I don't know if David was an only child or not. According to one source I found he supposedly has a step dad and possibly a step sister because William died sometime before 1870 (according to an 1870 census I found it only has David and his mother Anna and her mother Sarah Botts or Betts listed on it). I know David lived in Indiana some since some of his 12 children were born in Indiana and some in Kentucky, and apparently he went back and forth since the older were not born in one state and the younger in the other. Their births go back and forth between the 2 states. The oldest was born in KY in 1887, but the next 2 in Indiana, then back to KY, etc. with youngest being born in Indiana again. David married Anna C Gump around 1884 or 1885 in Indiana, although they met and were both born in KY. Sometime between 1910 and 1916 he moved his family to Dayton, OH, where he died in 1941. Anna, his wife died in 1960 in Dayton, OH. I have been able to trace her family back, but am stuck on David's. Any information on David or William would be greatly appreciated. Or even any information about Anna Botts (or Betts) or her mother. Anna Botts' (Betts) mother, Sarah (unknown maiden name), was born around 1793 in Virginia and that is all I know about her. Thanks for any help.
