Hello
I have tracked my family back to JACOB KELLER, born in Virginia, in 1797. He is a son of John and Susan (Stengley) Keller, natives of Virginia and Pennsylvania . They died in Franklin County, Ohio. Jacob came to this county in 1825. Mr. Keller was married in 1820, to Maria Warren, who was born in Ohio and daughter of Parker Warren. They had nine children, six living: Alfred, John, Nelson, Harrison, Steward J. and Ann. Maria died March 24, 1868, and Mr. Keller was married February 10, 1870, to Elizabeth Schrull nee McNickle, widow of Jacob Schrull.
I would like to find their graves if possible. I do not know when he died but was alive in 1884. His son Steward is buried in the Buke cemetary Steward's family is in Nevada cemetary.

Guess I need a point in the right direction.
Thanks
Doug Keller

Isaac Roberts, (1831-1899 Tymochtee, Wyandot County) was probably my Great Grandfather. His wife was Catherine Balunder (b.1834, OH, died 1897, OH). Looking for anything about him or his other family members and descendants beyond what is on the census sheets. Any other descendants out there?

I think his parents were probably Robert Roberts (b. 1787, VA - died in Ohio) and Magdalene Cohenham (b. 1808, VA) who may have been early settlers in the same area in the very early 1800s. Again, any information or other descendants.

Contact Doug Roberts - HogDad@hotmail.com

looking for info on George W Marshall from Upper Sandusky, OH

Hi,

I'm looking for information on my great grandfather, George W Marshall who lived in Upper Sandusky, OH.

Here is what I know:

George (1853 - ?) was the son of Joseph Marshall and Julia Stockman. George had 3 siblings - James Willis Marshall (1847–1920), Anne T Marshall (1851–1898), and Henry Marshall (1855–1867).

George and Mollie (Neff) were married in Marion county on January 18, 1874.

According to the 1900 census, he and Mollie, lived on Warpole St. in Upper Sandusky, with 2 of their children, Bailey and Daisey.

By the 1910 census, Mollie had moved to Marion county, and is listed as widowed and living with her sister, Emma M Holland. I have no idea when George died. I'm assuming they lived in Upper Sandusky at the time and then Mollie went to live with her sister after George died.

Any information on any of the people mentioned above will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
If anyone knows anything about this family I would really appreciate something that could lead me to them. Or if anyone could look up an obituary from the Carey newspaper that would help me find someone still living in the family - I would really love that as well.

Randy Lindsay
Seeking to learn more about Charles E. Lesie born 1844 in Wyandot County, Ohio. Unsure who his parents were, but one source has Aaron Leslie and Canaloc Ingraham (or Ingram). I beleive I found him in an 1850 census of Crawford, Wyandot Co.,Ohio living with Ezra and Abigal Stewart. The name listed was Yazoo Leslie, male born 1844, but I suspect that might have been a nickname. Any information or suggestions will be appreciated.

I am looking for information on my ggg grandfather Ursin Goodman. According to census records he was born in New York in 1800, but I do not have any information as to where. Ursin married Sarah (Sally) Kentfield, originally of Belchertown, Massachusetts. Ursin and Sarah had 8 children. My gg grandfather, David Kentfield Goodman, his sister Sarah, and brother Erastus were all born in New York. Emeline, Antoinette, Lucy, Enos and Otis were all born in Ohio. They arrived in Ohio between 1830 and 1834. I have seen them listed in Crane township and then in Tymochtee. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

looking for info on George W Marshall from Upper Sandusky, OH

As the subject says, I'm looking for information on George W Marshall (born abt April 1854). He married Mary (aka Mollie) Neff (born abt December 1853) on 19 Jan 1874. They had 3 children: Nellie B Marshall, Bailey Horde Marshall, and Daisey Adella Marshall. George was my g-grandfather.

I'm trying to find anything on George (birth/death dates, etc) and prior. I've found a 1860 census record with a George Marshall on it, with a father named Joseph and a mother named Julia. There is also a record out there that shows a Julia A Stockman as Joseph's wife. However, closer examination of this record leads me to think that this is not the same Julia shown on the 1860 census. The dates and her children don't match (unless there's a second marriage involved).

George and Mollie lived in Upper Sandusky, OH. I have no idea where his parents lived. I have no idea if he had any siblings. Hopefully, someone will be able to help me with this. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Trying to find out information about James Mawhorter/McWhorter b. Jan. 04, 1801 in Washington County, Pennsylvania and d. Oct. 23, 1876 in Noble County, Indiana. Also looking for information about his wife Margaret Mawhorter/McWhorter b. May 02, 1806 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. They were married in Muskigum County, Ohio March 26, 1828.

The info. I have about them so far is where they were born, married, and died. Margaret's maiden name seems to be McWhorter or MeWhorter according to thier marriage record. They were living in Salt Rock township, Marion County, Ohio in 1840 and then in 1845 Wyandot County, Ohio was formed and the portion of Salt Rock township, Marion County, Ohio that James and Margaret lived in became Antrim townshiip, Wyandot County, Ohio where they are listed in the 1850 census as James and Margaret McWherter. My 4rth Great-Grandfather James M. Mawhorter (1833-1897) a son of James and Margaret mentions in his obituary that he came to Noble County, Indiana in 1853 with his parents, about the time they seemed to change the spelling of the name from McWhorter to Mawhorter. I believe the surename name was changed becouse James and Margaret may have been inbred (Relatives of the same surename who married each other). James and Margaret were living in Elkhart township, Noble County, Indiana in the 1860 census.

I don't have access to any Courthouses or libraries in Pennsylvania or Ohio being so far away, so I figured I'd post on message boards.

Specific information I'm looking for is,

1. Where were they between 1829 - 1839 ?

2. Also looking for any information about them in Washington County, Pennsylvania?

3. Where were they in Washington County, Pennsylvania and who were their parent's were?

One assumption about who I think James parent's were is how he named his children. But I'm looking for a recorded document from a courthouse or library to prove it. I think his parent's may have been John McWhorter and Hannah Polly Early.

Here's my assumption why I think John McWhorter and Hannah Polly Early may have been his parent's.

James Mawhorter/McWhorter and Margaret Mawhorter/McWhorter

children
1. Kilborn (first born, named becouse his father John died in 1803 after James was born in 1801.)

2. James M. (named after himself)

3. John (named after James's father John)

4. William (named after James's Grandfather William McWhorter b. 1745 in Bucks County, PA.)

5. Robert (named after James's Great-Grandfather Robert McWhorter b. abt.1700 who married Sarah Johnston)

6. Adeline (?????)

7. Caroline (????)

8. Aaron "also spelled Marion in 1860" (??????)

9. Margaret E. (named after James's wife Margaret)

10. Hannah (named after James's mother Hannah Early Polly)

Just an assumption but so far it's all I have.

Bill Mawhorter
Sebatian and Frederick were born in Germany. The rest were probably born in Indiana or Ohio. The family came to the US in about 1841. David was born about 1842, Elizabeth 1846, Lena 1848, Martin 1850, and Matilda 1850. I know they did visit Ohio but I am not sure how long or where.
I am related through Frederick but have little on Fredericks children except my decendants.
I am searching for information about Sanders Reed buried 2 Dec 1847 at Little Sandusky Cemetery in Pitt Twp, Wyandot Co, Ohio. I suspect this to be Sanders Reed, born in Rockingham Co, VA. Is there a particular church might have commonly used this cemetery? I believe the Reed family was Mennonite. What county might have this death record?

Thanks
Bob Wolfe

----Original Message Follows----
From: Janice Goudy <jgoudy@worldnet.att.net>
To: kkkrumm@hotmail.com
Subject: Wyandot county main page
Date: Mon, 07 Jan 2002 20:31:55 -0600

Hi Kristina: I have been researching my dad's family who immigrated
from Ireland in 1855. All of my sources point to them being in Wyandot
County--I have a great uncle who listed his birthplace as Wyandot County
in 1858. However, I have been through the 1860 census 3 times and can't
find them. They bought land in Pitt Township in 1863 and their oldest
daughter married a guy from Marion County in 1859 and tonight I learned
that the second son married a girl in Wyandot County in 1871. I wrote
the courthouse some time ago and asked for any naturalization papers and
they sent me what they had. My great grandfather was named James
McKelvy and they sent me a document with that name on it and also the
names of two sons and listed him as being born in 1885. However, my
James McKelvy died in 1879, had 6 sons, 3 or whom were born in this
country. One of the sons on the document had the name of one of my
great uncles who was born in this country. I am hoping to finally get
to Ohio (I'm in Kansas) this spring to see what I can find, but do you
have any ideas? I am researching all the great aunts and uncles trying
to find some clues, but so far I haven't found anything to solve this
mystery. Would the census takers have missed them in 1860 (although how
do you miss a family with 8 children) and if so is there anywhere else
to look? Also do you have any inside knowledge about naturalization
records? Any help you can suggest will be greatly appreciated. Janice
Goudy

Hello, I am trying to find any information on Benjamin and Melissa James who lived in Wyandot County at least while she had a child named Orville James. He was born Sep. 19, 1844. Their oldest child was named Perlina, another named Benjamin. Possibly more children. I do not have a town where they may have lived. I have tried to see an 1840 and an 1850 census of Wyandot Co online but it is not available. Any information on Benjamin and Melissa James would just tickle me! Thank you so much. I am in Virginia.

Deceased had been ill for some time, a victim of that dreaded disease, consumption. She was a very estimable lady, and was aged about forty-two yeats. She was respected and admired for her many lovely traits of character, and her death in the very noon of life is deplored by all who knew her. The funeral took place Sunday. Services were held at the home of her venerable father, and interment was made at Oak Hill cemetery.
I have been attempting to get caught up on my file processing.
I discovered 13 tombstone photos sent to me via snail mail by Myles Eley along with additional birth and death information for the Ingerson and Shaffer graves found at Old Sycamore cemetery in Wyandot Co.
Tonight I got the photos all scanned and uploaded and all the information he sent added to the existing online burial listing for that cemetery.
Myles writes:
"The photos include the monuments for Josiah and Margaret Shaffer who were moved from Pleasant View in 2004. The marble slabs are the original ones which were removed from the mausoleum. We had them mounted back to back to mark the new site. The monument for Lydia Shaffer Ingerson is new and marks a previously unmarked grave. We also had a new Civil War stone made for John Ingerson to replace the original broken one. Their children are buried to their immediate left."
Myles is a "dream" descendant, I hope we all shall have descendants that care as he does to maintain our graves and memory!
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohwyand2/wyandot.htm

Samuel G. LILES, 1843-1921 -biography

"SAMUEL G. LILES-- This valiant ex-soldier of the Civil War, now a resident of Jackson township, Wyandot County, Ohio, is a native of the county and was born in Richland township September 23, 1843. His father, Isaiah Liles, was born in Ross county, Ohio, May 27, 1818, and was a son of Lemuel Liles, who was born in South Carolina in 1779, served in the War of 1812, later came to Ohio, where he followed his vocation of farmer in Ross county and also officiated in his capacity of the Methodist clergyman. In Ross county, also , Lemuel married Harriet Deringer.
Isaiah Liles, however, was reared in Logan County and in 1839 came ot Wyandot county and purchased seven hundred acres of land. He furnished timber to the Pennsylvania Railway Company, partly from his own forest and partly through purchase. He was married in Wayne county to Miss Catherine Young and to this union were born seven children, viz.: Samuel G., a farmer in Jackson township; Joseph A., whose biography will be found on another page; Margaret, who has been twice married first to James Morrison, and now to Henry Shriver, of Jackson township; Charlotte Ann, who was called away when quite young; Elvira, who died in 1874, the wife of Lewis Ellis, and the mother of two children, George and Lucy; Lemuel, who married Alice Healy and died in 1894; and Plimpton J., who has retired to private life and his residence in Forest Ohio.
The father of this family, Isaiah Liles, was a stock dealer and land agent, was a very influential and popular citizen, and for twenty-five years was clerk of the board of education, but never held and elective office. In politics he was first a Whig, but when that party became disintregated[sic] and its member merged in to the Republican party, he became identified with the latter. In religion he was a Methodist and was very active in church work, being a class-leader, and in the faith he died April 16, 1889. His widow now makes her home in Richland township, and she, as was her late husband, is greatly respected for her many amiable traits of character.
Samuel G. Liles lived with his parents on the homestead until the dire clash of arms aroused his patriotic ardor beyond control. and when but seventeen years old he enlisted August 23, 1861, in Company I, Forty-ninth Ohio Volunteer Infantry, with which command he served three years. He took part in every engagement in which his regiment had a share until he re-enlisted September 24, 1864, in the One Hundred and Eightieth Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and served until July 12, 1865, three months after hostilities had been brought to an end, when he was honorably discharged. There were two memorable dates in connection with the subject's soldier life. The first was April 9, 1865, when General Lee surrendered to General Grant at Appomatox. At that time Mr. Liles regiment was at Salisbury, NC, ready to engage in battle with the Confederates under Gen. Joseph E. Johnston, and the news of Lee's surrender caused the wildest joy throughout the Union army. However, five days later came the sad news of the assassination of the beloved President, and the joy of the soldiers was turned to the deepest sorrow. Although Lieutenant Liles shared in encampments, marches, skirmishes and engagements innumerable, he was never sick nor wounded, and performed every duty faithfully and with enduring fortitude.
On his return home Lieutenant Liles resumed the occupations of peace, and October 25, 1865, married Miss Mary E. Giester [sic "GASTER"], a native of Basle, Switzerland, and a daughter of Henry and Anna (Snyder) Giester[sic "GASTER"]. This union has been graced with one child, Isaiah R., who was born October 13, 1885. Mr. Liles then purchased eighty acres of wild land in section 2, Jackson township, of which he cleared forty acres. He improved it, lived on it seven years, and then went to Birmingham, Iowa, where he engaged in the dry goods trade one year. Thence he went ot Healdsburg, Cal., and for ten years conducted a boot and shoe store; he next went to Tombstone, Ariz., where he was in the mining business eighteen months, and then in 1883 came back to Wyandot county and settled on his present farm of sixty-one acres, which was formerly known at the Dempsey place. Here he carries on general farming and is a prosperous as his best friend could wish him to be.
In politics Mr. Liles is a stanch Republican and takes an especially active interest in his party's affairs. He has been president on the board of education for twelve years and is also a member of the board of road supervisors. He is a member of G.A.R., post No. 236, of Forest, Hardin County; also of I.O.O.F., Lodge No. 136, of Birmingham, Iowa, and of Grange No. 283, P. of H., of Jackson township, Wyandot county. He is well known throughout the county, is exceedingly popular, and he and his wife mingle with best society of th the county and township, being sincerely respected for their many personal good qualities."
Source: Biographical History, pp. 462-464
The wife of Saumuel, Mary E. Gaster, was my 2nd Great Grandaunt.
Samuel died in 1921 and is buried along with his wife in Oak Hill cemetery, Wyandot Co., OH
I am always looking for living relatives!
Write if we are connected!
I've been trying to get in contact with Leigh Marvin for quite some time now. This person is connected to my family tree and has obviously done some serious foot work on it. I would like to contact them personally to see exactly how we connect but 'LJCM7 at aol.com' is no longer a working e mail address. Does anyone out there know of this person and how I might get in touch with them? I would love any info or suggestions. Thank you so much
Karen in CA

Seeking death record: John Justice, b. 1821 d. 1880-1900 Mifflin? Bowsherville?

I am hoping someone can help me. I want to find the names of John Justice's parents, supposedly born in Ireland. John was born in New York (county unknown) around 1821. He is in the Wyandot county, Mifflin township censuses of 1860, 1870, and 1880. He is not found in the 1900 census, tho' his children are still in the area. I am hoping his death record (or obituary) will have his parent's names. How to find a death record without exact year? I am assuming he was buried in Mifflin, or he could have been buried in Bowsherville, where his wife's family lived? He was married to Priscilla Moody, who also seems to have died between 1880-1900. I live in Massachusetts, so cannot travel to Ohio. Any help and/or leads will be sincerely appreciated.

I am trying to find out who the parents of Mary Coon were. The info I have so far is that she was born in 1816 in OH. I also have a 1850 census of Sycamore twnshp, Wyandotte co. OH with her on it. She is married to Solomon Osborn. It list her daughter, Nancy Ann, along with a couple other siblings. I know that Nancy Ann Osborn was born in April of 1843 in Wyandotte co. This is all I know at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeremy Turner

Looking for Peter Creger

Greetings all. In 1981, my great aunt Grace Creger, great uncle Paul Creger, and grandfather David Creger, traveled to Tuscarawas County, OH, and found the cemetery where their great great grandfather and grandmother were buried. These two people were Jacob Creger and his wife, known only as 'Sharlott'. Unfortunately, I have no notes from Grace, Paul or David on where this cemetery was at, so that I might continue their work. Jacob Creger was listed in Ohio census records as being born in 'VA' (which may have been PA). Jacob's son was named Peter - there may have been other children I do not have records for. Peter died March 6, 1845. Sharlott died January 1, 1844. Both are buried together, and I feel if I could find the cemetery, I could focus on that area of the county for other records which might give me the answers to their origins. Please respond via this board, direct e-mail, or to me personally at 4217 Starr St., Lincoln, NE 68503. Regards, Timothy L. Creger.

I am hoping someone will be able to do a census lookup for Owen F. Kirby in 1900 in Wyandot County, Ohio. I am listing what information I am looking for, and need it verified. The image on Ancestry.com is illegible.
Name: OWEN FRANKLIN KIRBY
Spouse: JENNIE KIRBY
Son: HOWARD B. KIRBY

I believe I have located them on the following census sheet but as it is illegible, I need the information confirmed if possible.

Upper Sandusky, Crane Township, Wyandot County, Ohio
dated June 18, 1900
Supervisor district #12
Enumeration District # 633
Sheet #13 B
lines 26-28, possibly more
~Ancestry lists the source data as follows:
Year: 1900; Census Place: Upper Sandusky, Wyandot, Ohio; Roll: T623 1334; Page: 13B; Enumeration District: 133

If possible I need all information listed on the 1900 census, especially birth month and years and number of children born to the family. Also the street address. I sincerely appreciate any help anyone can be on this!
Thanks in advance!
~Darlene

Byrd (Bird, Burd) - Moses marriage lookup

I'm searching for the marriage record of Aimee (Amie) Gibson Byrd (Bird, Burd) to a man whose surname was Moses. I believe the marriage took place between 1940 and 1957 while she was a resident of Wyandot County. Aimee Gibson was born 21 May 1911 in Putnam Co., WV and died in 1985, probably in Marion Co., OH.
She was the widow of Theordore Taft Byrd who was killed in an automobile accident in Wyandot County in September, 1940.
When her son, Robert (Bobby) Byrd, was married around 1957, Aimee's surname was given as Moses and she was a resident of Wharton, Wyandot County.
I don't live in Ohio so if anyone has access to these records and could tell me the full name of Aimee Gibson Byrd's second husband, the date of the marriage, or any other information about her or her children, I would be grateful.

Looking for the family of William Shuman

I am looking for a William Shuman who is the son of Henry Shuman and Elizabeth Arno. William is married to Elizabeth I don't know her last name but she died in 1919 in Wyandot County, Ohio. She was living with her daughter Sallie (Shuman) Shearer. There was a Will left by William. I have sent for it but not yet recieved anything. Can someone help me find where he is buried and the rest of his family? I have traced at least 4 possibly 5 of his daughters names. William had 11 daughters and one son who died in infancy.

RINALDO B. & REBECCA (Thomas) KIRBY

Looking for any information regarding Rinaldo B. & Rebecca C. (Thomas) Kirby. Rinaldo is shown to be born Jan. 2,1815 in Virginia, Rebecca was born June 10, 1822 in Virginia died in Wyandot County 4-26-1894. A stone for the couple is located in York Street Cemetery, in Wyandot County and is very clear, so we do not feel there is an error of misreading the stone. The problem is that Rianaldo has no death inscription as to his interment and disappears around that time. It is possible that he is located in Otto, Bedford County, Virginia in the 1900 census in the home of his son, Franklin; but dates are sketchy for the son. and we are not sure if it is the correct person though the dates fit for Rinaldo. We are wondering if Rinaldo moved to Virginia after Rebecca died and died himself elsewhere, hence the missing death date on the stone. (Or if noone paid to inscribe a date on
