I would really appreciate any hints or help. I have spent hours looking and no new clues. My grandmother, Evelyn Wellmeier's mother is Janie Rowena Isaac. She is the oldest daughter of the marriage of Isaac Garner to Christine Charlesworth in Missouri. I am able to find the marriage certificate.
Isaac Garner is in the 1860 census with mother Elizabeth, born about 1805. No husband is listed in any census records. They lived in Deerfield, Warren county, Ohio with Benjamin, John, Isaac, Lucinda (who later married Ezra R. Robertson), Elizabeth, Ann and Alexander. In the 1850 census, Isaac is not listed but many of the other siblings were. In the 1870 census it lists Isaac, Lucinda, and Ann living together in Massie, Warren county, Ohio.
In the 1880 census, he is in the same area but with just a six year old daughter named Elizabeth born about 1874 and a farm hand named Isaac Wilson.
Soon after this Isaac married (for the second time) his much younger wife, Christine Charlesworth.
I have never seen a father's name for all of these children of Elizabeth. I have never seen a 1st wife's name, who would be mother of Elizabeth. My grandmother said that her grandfather had two daughters from his first marriage. I have never found a second daughter's name.
I sent letters to three families of Garner's from around Oregonia and Waynesville but I never received a reply from anyone.
I believe that Samual and William W. are brothers or cousins of unknown Garner whose wife was Elizabeth and mother of Isaac. There were a lot of Garner men married to Elizabeth's but had children of different names. If anyone can give me some help, I would truly appreciate that. Thanks, Sandra, Evelyn's granddaughter
