Hello,
I am descended from William Webber and Jane Toland. I have some family tree info from relatives that indicates that John N. Webber is William's father. Unfortunately, I don't have any verifying documentation, though. Also, I am having difficulty finding documentation for Jane Toland's parents. Any help there?

I too have been trying to find William V. parents with no luck so far. William would be my 3rd great grandfather then going through William as my 2nd grandfather which would be the one that Don found that died in the County Home in Van Wert. William's wife (2nd g-father) Nancy moved with her children to Noble County, IN in 1885. If you find any information please let me know and if I find anything, I'll get in touch with you. Do you happen to know where William V and Jane are buried?

Lib (Weber) McDowell

Hi, I just saw this posting and thought you might like to know that we have a McClelland Webber reunion every September at the Green Center Community Building in Noble County, Albion, IN. McClelland was my great-grandfather and I have lots of information on his decendants. Let me know if you want any information on his decendants or if you are interested in coming to the next reunion.

Lib (Weber) McDowell
FYI: McClelland is the first generation that dropped the second b in Webber. So everything from him forward is spelled WEBER.

Hi I saw your post on ancestry regarding Susan Diss, I also knew Susan growing up in Venedocia. We lived with my grandparents, Evan Davies, for a short while before we moved to Van Wert. She and I corresponded for many years and unfortunately like everything else we lost track of each other. When I was back there in 1986 I did have a chance to see her I think it was somewhere in Shelby Co. (?). I too would like to know if she is still in the area. If you and she were close in age then We probably knew each other at the time also, small world. Hopefully you will see this post. Thanks Gwen Davies Griba

Good Morning, Thank you ever so much, it worked and I had never done this before. I wrote the directions down in case I am able to do it again. I was able to get them all. I feel they have to be part of my husbands family just not sure which family they go in. The McBride's were a large family. Molly or Mary RANK was a sister to our Thomas. I would really like to know if this is the same studio that her husband had as he was well known in his time, and took beatuiful pictures. The family called him Jerry but his birth name was Jeremiah Rank. My mother-in-law had pictures he sent the family of his three daugthers a set of twins and a single birth and they could have passed for triplets. Again thank you. Letta

Dear Letta,
Here is the father. Can you do a screensaver? It is such a great feature on a computer. You can pause YouTube videos and snip out any picture. I found a YouTube video depicting a United States Marine Soldier at the Chosen Reservoir in 1950 that looked like my father. So I paused the footage, snipped out the still, saved it as a JPG file onto my zip drive, and now it can be sent, manipulated, enlarged...whatever. Very easy to do.
As for the photograph itself, the individual photographs are attached to the backing of the photograph frame, and I am afraid they may become damaged if they are forced off.
Here is screen-save instructions:
Go to bottom left tab (start tab). Go to "All Programs." Next, click "accessories." Next, click "Snipping Tool." Box will pop up and screen will fade (this means mouse is ready to square out a snip). Hold right mouse button down as you guide the mouse over desired size of snip. Let up when done. Now, a box pops up indicating the snip you just took. If it looks good, go to "file" (inside this indicating box) and click "Save-as" JPG file. I save mine to a zip drive.
If you have trouble, watch the process on YouTube.
Let me know!

Hi, Two of the girls, the 1st and the last resemble Thomas F. daughters the father resembles him but I don't think is him. I don't have any pictures of the earlier time period of the boys only later ones. I have a picture of Thomas and his 6 daughters. There were supose to be one of the mother and her 6 son's. They were not always where they could have everyone in a picture as some moved to CA and WA. I couldn't say postively that it is one of his family. would you be able to send me a copy of each by e-mail and maybe I can contact some of the family to see if they reconize them. I sent you my e-mail. Thank You Letta

I can scan one of the people and send it to you.
A man answered this post claiming the photographer was a man named Agler...his relative.
The people in the picture all have extremely dark-brown eyes.
The picture is 1920s or earlier. Father has on a bow-tie, yet two sons have wide ties on, whereas the third son has a very large bow-tie with design. All look to be in their early 20s. The males have hair piled atop their head. All the women have brown wavy hair--even the mother--parted on the side and pulled back. The mother resembles the daughters a great deal. The father has white hair, a huge bushy mustache, no beard. A few of the young women are slightly smiling, which is a miracle for that time period.

Do you know who had the Studio before him as Jerry (Jeremiah) Rank had his built in 1895. He is in the Biographical History of Van Wert Co., Oh
Vol. 2., Page 627 to 629. He had it for many years until retireing. He was related to the McBrides as his wife was a McBride.
Letta

I think this would be either Thomas F. McBride's family or his son Curtis McBrides. I should have put that in the e-mail yesterday. Did it have a date on it as Curtis had three sons and then 3 daughters and later had two more sons. Letta

Hello. I live in Decatur, Indiana.
I went to a garage sale approximately one year ago and found a very old, long horizontal, rectangle picture of someones family. The photography company (from long ago)is from Van Wert and says :"D.E Aglent?" Not sure about the letters after the "AG."
When I took the back of the picture off, there is a pencil writing which says "McBride." The picture depicts a man and his wife, three daughters, and three sons.
If this picture is meaningful to you, please let me know and you can have it.
Email: minokismom@yahoo.com

Hello! We are running into some problems. Jacob Yoh, born in Berks County, Pa on Sep. 1, 1816. Married a Sarah. My information states he Married Sarah Plank. She was born Nov. 12, 1818, in Pennsylvania. They married in Ohio and settled in Van Wert. I found a grave marker with Jacob Yoh matching the same dates we have. Jacob died March 29, 1865. Same as the marker reads at Morh Cemetery. However, though the dates for his wife match our dates the name on the grave marker is Sarah Catherine Kurtz Yoh. The problem is I am having problems proving or disproving either of them. Would love to clear this discrepancy up. Thanks in advance!

Have not been able to find them in the Van Wert Census of 1930. Would like some information on them before they came back to Virginia/Kentucky.
Greetings again,

Might anyone know if Taylor Cemetery is active, and/or where the cemetery records are kept?

Some updated information regarding the original query follows. Thank you. --GeneJ

Today Marcia Weldy, Reference Librarian, Brumback Library, assisted me in the quest to learn about a Taylor Cemetery (Union Township) tombstone for either Joseph P. Miller or his wife, Rebecca. They died in march 1895, three days apart.

Marcia checked the ca2000 published inscriptions did not find their information listed. The materials she looked suggest the cemetery is still active.

Those collaborating about Joseph and Rebecca have separately located 1999 correspondence relaying both where Joseph and Rebecca are said to be buried at Taylor Cemetery, also that no tombstone exists.

Hoping someone might have the published inscriptions for Taylor Cemetery, Union Township, Van Wert County.

I am looking for husband and wife. They died three days apart!

From their Van Wert County death records:

Joseph P. Miller, died 10 March 1895.
Rebecca Miller, died 7 March 1895.

Two obituaries were published about them, both reported burial at Taylor Cemetery.

Hoping these transcriptions might have been published in the Van Wert cemetery books. Appears Union Twp. would be in volume 2.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide. ==GeneJ

Hi Lucille,

I hope your research has gone well.

I do not think your Hester Miller Fife will connect with this Joseph Peter Miller.

Joseph P. Miller was residing at Knox County, Ohio, in 1850, 1860 and 1870.

There is no indication this Joseph P. Miller was ever in the area of Maryland, or that his parents were from there.

Hope this helps. --GeneJ

Was his middle name Aaron? I'm asking because I'm looking for history on Robert Esmond Taylor (my great grandfather who was born in 1904.) The name Robert has been passed down 3 generations since then, but all of them go by their middle names. I saw another post on here about an Aaron Taylor. Hmm...

Hi,
My Great Grandfather was Robert Taylor (b. 1904) and he married Arno Marie Finkhouse of Van Wert Ohio. I can't find anything on his history. I know his full name was Robert Carl Esmond Taylor, but most of us only knew Esmond to be his only middle name. Hopefully we can piece this together!

I had assumed the Henry Clay Johns from Cinn. Oh. was correct at one time.
later came across information that his name was John Henry Johns from Franklin co. Ohio.
I have a document that was concerning his eligibility for war benefits from the civil war.
forgive me I am at work and cannot quote as written.
This letter was written on behalf of Henry and indicates that a Johns family who lived in a county north east of Van Wert had adopted him at a very young age as his parents both died.
I will go thru my record and repost the direct quote.
