In particular I am looking for information on Siberia Luckey. I suspect that she died as an infant as she was born in 1849, is found in the 1850 census, then "disappears" from all family records after 1850.

Thanks in advance,
Debra
Houston, TX

William Hales was in Ashtabula county for the 1850 census but I think he filed his letter of intent in Trumball in 1842. Does anyone have any access to those records that would check it out? He had 3 children - JOseph, Frances and Catherine. Joseph m Tirzah Allee and Frances m Almeron Crosby. I do not have any information about Catherine - they ended up in Henry county. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Spencer families living in Trumbull Co, Ohio in 1820-1850

My great great grandmother's name was Elenor Spencer. I do not have very much information for Elenor Spencer other than Elenor had a sister - whose name is not known.

The following information is what I have for Elenor:

Elenor was born May 03, 1824 at Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.

Elenor was married May 18, 1844 at Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio to Samuel Crooks. On the marriage record it lists Elenor as being from Bazetta.

In searching for Spencer families in the 1830 and 1840 federal census records for Trumbull County, Ohio. There is only one Spencer family that had a female child that fits in the correct age frame for Elenor. This family was Richard Spencer.

I found Richard Spencer living in Hartford, Trumbull County, Ohio in the 1830 federal census records. Richard did have 1 female between the age of 5 to 10 years of age living within his household - which would be the correct time frame for Elenor.

Does anybody have any Spencer family information that will help me or at least point me in the right direction? Any information will be appreciated.

Shelly Belanger

I am looking for the decedents of Wilson Miller b. abt 1879 in Big Beaver, PA? and his wife (name unknown). Wilson was the son of Sylvester Miller and Rosanah Pritchett (Pritchard). Rosanah b. abt. 1848 in Washington County, Ohio she is the daughter of Samuel Pritchett(Pritchard) and Elizabeth Nangle. The last census I have on this family is 1880 in Big Beaver, PA. I found an obit dated May 4, 1911 on Rosanah's Uncle William James Nangle's wife Achsah Mansfield-Nangle that listed names of family that came to the funeral from out of town, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Miller was listed in the obit, it said they were from Cortland, Trumbull County, Ohio.

Wilson had a sister named Sarah E.b. abt. 1870, Mary J.b. abt. 1873 (she might have been raised by her mother's brother Nathaniel and his Francis Pritchet) and a brother named Frederick b. abt. 1876

If you have any info on these people please contact me.

Provided by the Warren Trumbull County Public Library - wonderful people, very helpful!

Western Reserve Chronicle, November 16, 1870: “Jehiel Perkins – one of the oldest citizens of this county, Mr. Jehiel Perkins, died at his residence in Vienna, on Saturday last, 12 inst., at the age of 89 years. He came to this county sometime previous to 1810, and carried the mail from Warren to Pittsburgh, during 1810, which, owing to almost the wilderness condition of the intervening country, was a tedious and trying task. Mr. Perkins served his country in the war of 1812. He has left a widow in the 82d year of her age.”

The Oriel family from Pembrokeshire Wales to Trumbell County

Dear All,
Back in 2001 I submitted a query to this board based on my previous 20 years research on the Oriels of Pembrokeshire who had migrated across the pond to Trumbell County. Further research has now lead me to a place called Liberty Township Trumbell County, I can also establish the Oriel's from Pembrokeshire in Warren, Giard and Miners Millborough Luzerne Pennsylvania.
Does anyone have any connection with this family, possibly the Barnes family, and is there a local newspaper through which I can possibly place a letter to help me contact these descendents of this ancient welsh family.
Rgds
Owen Vaughan
ORIEL a welsh window on a surname

While looking for some information on the family of Daniel and Sarah Scofield Hull Robinson, I requested a copy of an abstract from the Western Reserve Chronicle. There was the obit I wanted and an additional one. I wanted to post them both here for anyone who might be interested.

Western Reserve Chronicle, Warren Ohio
28 Jan 1863

DEATHS
Bazetta, Jan 6, 1863, of Scarlet fever ELMA A., eldest daughter of Wm and Rebecca A. McCleer, aged 8 years, 7 months and 28 days.
“Dear as thou wert, and justly dear,
We will not weep for thee’
One thought shall check the starting tear,
It is that thou art free.”
“And thus shall faith’s consoling power,
The tears of love restrain,
O who that saw thy parting hour
Could wish thee here again?”

At Hilton Head SC, Sept 30, 1862, of Congestive fever, George N. Hull, in the 20th year of his age, the Son of Daniel and Sarah Hull, formerly of Bazetta. He was a private in Co B, 76th PA Volunteers.
It is poor consolation to a bereaved parent, but it is the best we can offer when we say that he has always proved a dutiful and obedient soldier, and he nobly sacrificed his life in behalf of this great and glorious Union.
D. C. Strawbridge,
Capt Co B, 76th Regt. P. V.
I did a search under the above name (who was my paternal grandfather) and for some reason the Trumbull family message board popped up. Does anyone know what the connection is, if any? I'm having a heck of a time finding anything on my grandfather. My father and all his siblings are gone now, with very few cousins scattered about. I'd appreciate any help anyone might be able to give me if you know of a connection to any Graves. All I can say for certain is he lived in Greenville, Mississippi when he died and was married to Amanda Willie Ann Stroud. They had four children - Letha Mae, Willie Cleon (my father), Alfred Arthur and Virginia (and I believe her middle name was Maude, but am not positive).

I've tried to find it for sale with no luck and cannot find it in various libraries throughout my area of Pennsylvania

I am hoping it contains an obituary for Jehiel Perkins who resided in Vienna, Ohio and died 12 November 1870 - his wife Sarah "Sally" Scovill Perkins died in Vienna the year 1875.

Othewise, I'd be grateful to anyone who could help me locate a copy.

Seeking information on and ancestors of Rodney Miller b. 1830-1845, unknown wife, father of Rodney Miller, Monte/Montie Miller, MD, and adopted Emma Miller Turton b. 1869, d.8-11-1912 in Chicago. The elder Rodney Miller owned a store named "Miller's Store" and adjoining house in Farmington, OH. I have photos dated from late 1800's of the store and house. Monte/Montie Miller, MD, lived in Chicago along with his sister Emma and referred her to a specialist who diagnosed her with Lou Gehrig's disease in 1911, from which she died a year later. Emma was married to Charles Mark Turton, who wrote math and physics books and taught in the Chicago High School system for many years. Emma and Charles Turton are my great grand parents. The younger Rodney Miller had a son, Rodney Lewis Miller b. 1899/1900.

I am seeking the identity of my paternal great grandfather for whom I only have the surname HAYES. He married Laura Belle Mealy (27 Feb 1869--3 Jan 1935). She is the daughter of Alexander Mealy (1837-1903) and Mary Ann Marks (1835-1910). There were two sons from this union: Alexander Reed Hayes (13 Apr 1887) and my grandfather Howard Hunter Hayes (18 Aug 1891). The Mealys residence was in Trumbull Co during this time. They moved to Washington before 1895 where Laura Belle remarried Jas H Miller.

Girley Brower

I find a Girley I. (could be "J") Brower in my files; he seems to have been born in Ohio around 1855 -- most likely in neighboring Ashtabula County. I see him at age 52 or so in the 1910 Census, but not later.

The family that I think he comes from has some strange given names -- including "Girley", some of which would never be given today. Nobody wants to be a "girlyman" these days! His father was (apparently Lot Abraham Brower) a lawyer and politician born in Montgomery County, New York -- and spent most of his midlife in the Lansing, Michigan area. Siblings include Gertrude, Pulaski, Plumus, Phineas, Phylotha (after a grandmother Phylotha WEBSTER, supposedly related to the dictionarist!), and Hellen. His mother is apparently Cynthia Sage. It sounds like a rather learned, if eccentric family.

His son Walter, born September 1888, was in Bloomfield Twp., Trumbull Co., with his parents in 1910. I assume that his sister Pearle, born in September 1885, had married.

He married an Esther S. Addicott in Ashtabula Co., OH.

He seems to have disappeared after 1910 -- deceased?

Further info will be welcome.

Hi,

I am hoping that someone here might be able to help me. I am looking for the parents of Margaret Perry or any information related to her, her husband, or her children.

She was born in April of 1837 in Pennsylvania. Her parents came from Wales. She married Henry Shearn. I was abled to find Margaret in the 1860 census for Jackson Township, Coshocton Co., OH - In the 1870 census for Shenango Township, Mercer Co., PA - In the 1880 census for Brookfield Township, Trumbull Co., OH and in the 1900 census for Van Buren Township, Clay Co., Indiana. I also found civil war pension records that list her as Henry Shearn's widow. Margaret and Henry had 12 children.

I also know that Margaret died at the age of 71, in Carbon, Clay CO., Indiana and April 14, 1908.

Thanks
McConnell/ Hake Connection, Trumbull Co., OH

Hello I am looking for information about the McConnell families that settled around Trumbull Co., generally around Warrn Twp, and other unknown towns. My ancestor Alexander McConnell was b. ca. 1824 in Pennsylvania or Ohio, moved to Jefferson, WI in 1843 and married Elizabeth Hake in 1844.

The Hakes I believe were also from the Trumbull Co. area and had moved out of Pennsylvania then moved on to Jefferson, WI also.

I do not know either Alex or Elizabeth's parents names but I have an idea judging from the fact that her children are buried with a great deal of Hakes in a cemetery here in Wisconsin. One of the men buried there, Rev. Emmanuel Hake married a Jane Elizabeth McConnell who was born in Trumbull Co., OH ca. 1818. I believe its possible that she could be the sister of my Alexander, but I really don't have any idea and I have no experience trying to find records in Ohio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently posted the following message in response to another query:

Seeking information on Robert (and Mary?) McLain. Their daughter Jane Ann McLain was apparently born (possibly in Nova Scotia or Montreal) shortly after her parents emigrated (from Ireland?). They came to Trumbull County, OH, where in 1866 Jane married Albert James (A. J.) Clark, son of Robert and Louisa (Seely) Clark, following his service with the Ohio Cavalry in the Civil War. Jane and A. J. moved to Colfax Co. WI and later by wagon train to Idaho and then on to Newberg, Oregon. Jane and A. J. are my gg grandparents.

I am also seeking information on where in Ireland Robert Clark lived prior to immigrating to Ohio in 1836. Am willing to share what information I have with others.

Thanks! Marj

POW/MIA Korean War, Trumbull Co. MOORE

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Trunbull County, Ohio as his home of record.

Soldier: DEXTER MOORE
Born: Born: 1930 Caucasian
Date of loss: December 1, 1950 POW

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 80 families in Ohio that have not been located. There is one family from Trumbull County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Seeking information on Peter SNYDER/SNIDER from Lordstown Trumbull Co. I have little info on him except that he lived in Lordstown from around 1830 to at least 1850. Peter Snider served at least 2 terms as J.P. and was Born NY. I have reason to believe that Peter may have had at least 2 brothers by names of Philip and Benjamin. Peter had children Alzina and Lewis as well as some others. If you know anything about this Snyder family, I would like to hear from you. Any info appreciated. If this line connects to our Snyder line, I will be happy to share info I have on them.
Hello,

I am searching for the parents of RoxyAnn/Roxanne BEGGS. She was born abt 1815. Death date unknown.
IGI lists a marriage to John POLHAM in Trumbull Co 23 Nov 1837. (His name has also been spelled POTHOUR and POTHER)

Would anyone have access to a Trumbull Co book listing this marriage? Might it mention the parents of the bride? (A similar book for Columbiana Co by Carol Bell often includes mention of parents so I'm just wondering if the same might be true of Trumbull resources.I'm happy to reciprocate with lookups in the Col Co book for anyone)

Apparently POLHAM died and Roxyanne later married William Luther STILSON. This was primarily in Coitsville Twp.

Thanks for any help.

Lynn

Can anybody tell me where to find the records for the old Finnish Lutheran Church in Girard, Ohio?

I have looked at some record books that were located at the Finnish American Heritage Center in Houghton, MI. They didn't include any birth, marriage or death records. I don't remember the exact information, but from one of the books I looked at, the church eventually closed up due to loss of membership in the 1950s or 1960s and the records were given to the St. Marks Lutheran church in Warren, OH. St. Marks was the originally the Finnish Lutheran church in Warren. I inquired about the records there, but they said they did not have them.
