My John W. James was a Baptist minister in Mineral Ridge, Trumbull County. I really have no idea if he and his wife, Mary Phillips James, died there, but I'd appreciate any look up. Their children were Ann James Morgan (b. Wales like her parents and her children were Frances b. 1872 in PA and John b. 1874 in PA), William (b. Wales), Alvira (b. 1859 PA), Alice (b. 1861 NY) and Benjamin (b. 1862 NY). Thanks.

The index to "Trumbull County Ohio Death Records 1867-1908..." lists a John James, minister, who died in Mineral Ridge on 30 March, 1885 at the age of 66. He was a widower whose birthplace is listed as South Wales. Cause of death is given as paralysis, which may mean the results of a stroke. The reference is volume 2, page 285. There is no listing for a Mary James prior to his death.

There are no "Death Certificates" from this period; the record usually having been one line in a large ledger. However, you may be able to obtain a copy of the entry by contacting the Trumbull County Archives here:

Thank you SO much for finding this for me. It is my great grandfather!! I found his wife (Mary) living in Chicago after his death. I really appreciate this. :) If you need anything in Chicago, let me know?
