That was my grandfather. William Henry Kruse. I never met him. Mildred was very proud of his days with Sousa. My dad lost touch with his father and contacted his uncle Paul in California, who was also a musician, and found out that his father had died and was buried in Sedalia MO.

With Mildred he had my father, William Jr and a daughter Rosalie. We lived in Streator Illinois and my father and Mildred are buried there. Rosalie Deats has also passed away and I assume is also buried in Streator.

I have two photographs of tombstones from the Mader family that I would gladly pass on to anyone who's interested. One is for Andrew Mader (1827-1896)and his wife Elizabeth (1824-1928). The other is for twin girls Margaret and Hannah Mader born 18 Jul 1864 and died 23 Aug 1864. They were Andrew and Elizabeth's children. All are buried at Black's Cemetery in Shelby Co.. OH.

I also have found memories of attending the Brehm family reunions as a child. Mom was very interested in family history and we attended a lot of them.

There was a John "Henry" Waltz, 76y, apparently residing with a son, John Waltz, 34y, married with family, a blacksmith, in Pusheta Twp., Auglaize Co., OH. John "Henry" Waltz's wife is given in records as Katie Ann DeLong. I believe this may be your ancestor, and goes back 4 more generations.

I have them in my records as parents of Daniel Waltz (1822-1886) who married into my DUNHAM family. John "Henry" is given as dying in 1870 in Miami Co., OH.

On Ancestry.com Public Member Trees your William Waltz is given as being 4y in 1870 and living with is parents Wm. Waltz (b 1834) and Mary C. Collins in Dinsmore Twp., Shelby Co., OH. Wm. Waltz (b 1834) is listed as s/o Benjamin Waltz (1805-1860) and Margaret Dunlap (1814-1880). Benjamin Waltz (b 1805) is listed as s/o the above John "Henry" Waltz & Katie Ann DeLong.

It appears that you have the rest of the story as nothing more is recorded for your William Waltz in this tree.
William Henry Waltz.
Son of William and Mary Waltz of Ohio.
Moved to Ill, then Iowa where they had 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls. One of the boys, Emerald August Waltz, was my grandfather.
William Henry Waltz of whom you speak ended up in Winterset Iowa and died Feb 23, 1934.
His son Emerald, my grandfather, passed away June 8th, 1966, a day I will never forget, even though I was but 9 at the time. He and I were buddies, best friends. We did everything together. He taught me to shift a column shift car when I was 5 standing on the seat beside him.
The Brittain family of Winterset/Madison County, Iowa, did a decent write-up on the Waltz family as far back as William and Mary Collins Waltz in Shelby Co. Ohio, but that's as far as it goes. They did list the birth, marriage and death dates of 7 children besides my grandfather. My mother seems to recall 8, but then that's not SOLID. It's possible there were 9, but we know of 8 for sure and my mother could actually still recall their names, and a bit about them.
So as I have it, William and Mary Waltz, Ohio, moved family to Macon Co. Ill where William Henry, a son, later married Emma Vantries March 6, 1890, at Weldon Ill.
William Henry Waltz and wife Emma moved to Madison County Iowa in 1911. They lived near Peru, Iowa, and then near Lorimor, Iowa. She (Emma Vantries/Waltz) died Feb 2, 1918, W.H. lived in Winterset after that.
My grandfather, according to my mother, his only daughter, said his mother passed away when he was 8 and he never really knew his father. My mother never knew her grandfather's name until she was an adult. The dates makes sense as I believe Emerald was born 1910, which also adds up as he was but 56 or so when he died in 1966. He looked much older as I recall, and photos we have show him of slight stature, bald since an early age. My mother says she can hardly recall when he had hair.
I have a copy of William Henry Waltz's obit from the time and it says "he leaves eight children" then names them, the names pretty much matching what we have and the ones my mother recalled to me.
William Henry Waltz is buried at the Lorimor cemetary in Iowa.
Tina - my great-grandfather was also William Henry Waltz, born in Shelby County, Bodkins twp, Ohio. This means that your grandfather was one of my grandfather's brothers.
It is VERY VERY difficult to find any good information on the Waltz side of the family. Was shocked to see this from 2002. Where has this post been all this time I've been searching?
And the post from 2011 - it would be nice to compare notes as I've done a whole lot of research on my father's side going clear back to England mid-1600s, but have trouble going back farther than what I posted here on my mother's side.

I have found that Hezekiah HUBBELL may have been buried in Pioneer Cemetery around 1870. I am looking for contact information for the cemetery, obits and death records. Any help would be appreciated.

If this isn't an instant classic for the perils of presumed orthography, I don't know what is. I am using the LDS transcriptions.

Clinehens appears to me to be a variation of the German surname Kleinhans - equivalent to English Littlejohn. Since the marriage is in Shelby Co. 1879. I looked in the 1880 Census and found Philip and Lou E. CLIHENCE, Ages 25 and 18 with child, Rolla, less than one year. Philip is born about 1855 in Ohio with both parents born in Germany.
They are in Dinsmore Township.

In 1900 Jackson Twp., Louetta CLINHEUS is widowed with three children.

Who are Philip's parents? In 1870 George and Eva CLEINHAM in Dinsmore have a 15 year old son Philip.

In 1860 Dinsmore, there is George and Eve CLYANCE, the same family, but the five year old son is Wm.

In 1850 Dinsmore, it is George and Eve CLIAHUS.

1840 listing is uncertain, no townships are recorded.
George CLANSEY - could be stretching things too far.

No marriage found.

George CLIVEHEUS b. 1816; d. 03 Jan 1876 in Shelby Co. Certificate transcription has no other useful information.

Some search engines only find exact spellings. Who could guess at these possibilities? When there is this much spelling variation, try to identify persons based on age, location etc. without using surnames.

I am doing some research about my family with Fowler surname. George Fowler who was my ggggreat grandfather was murdered by his wife Angeline in March 1869. Six weeks later she hung herself in the Sidney jail. The newspaper article from the Sidney Journal on May 20 said she was buried almost as soon as found. My family has never been able to find where she had ben buried. I have found every inch of info from birth records to the courrt docket info. Nothing mentioned where she could have been buried. If any could giveme any leads, I would be greatful!

Looking for any info on where to look for a burial of my great grandfather. We were told that he was buried in a palpers grave, we believe that the death certificate shows him being buried in Helmlinger Cemetery, which is outside of Wapakoneta, also known as Geyer Cemetery. Does anyone know who to contact for the old Geyer Cemetery which is about 1/2 from St. Marks Cemetery. Helmlinger Cemetery has no record of his burial, but his father is buried in Helmlinger cemetery. Thanks for any help. Funeral home that took care of the burial was Miller Bros in Jackson Center, no records before 1946 and they have no idea what happened to the records before that year.

Thank you for the information, but I don't think that was my Mom; but do wonder if it was any relation to her or her Mom's side of the family. Do you happen to know who the bride and groom were? or who she may have attended the event with?

Thanks,

Mary-Ann

My connection with the Dill clan is through Martha Botkin, who married James C. Dill. *

I have two Williams in my database, but they are not William R. (1907 - 1928. *

Looking at the 1900 - 1930 censuses, I now have this: *

1900 census: Sidney City, Shelby County, Ohio. Victor Dill born Aug 1881, son of Russell B. Dill and Emily Dill. *

1910 Census: Indianapolis, Marion, IN. Victor dill b. 1882, Alice Dill b. 1883, William Dill b. 1908. *

1920 Census: District of Columbia. Victor Dill b. 1882 Ohio; William R. Dill b. 1908, IN; Richard B. Dill b. 1916, IN; Francis Dill b. 1919 D.C.; Emily P. Dill b. 1850, N.Y. *
*

1930 Census: Dayton, Montgomery, Ohio. Victor H. Dill, CAROLINE T. Dill b. 1894 (Spouse); Richard B. Dill; Frances Dill. *

I have Victor's children as Elizabeth F., Richard B., and John M. It appears I need to enter a few more names in my family. Is Elizabeth F. our Frances/Francis? *

Let me know what you need.
