GAHANNA: James Earl Carr, age 82, of Gahanna, Ohio died on October 10, 2011.

Born August 9, 1929 to the late James Dana and Ruby Ruth (Whittington) Carr in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Jim served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army.
He retired from North American-Rockwell International Aviation in 1988.
Upon retirement, he went to work at K-Mart in Gahanna, Ohio for several years.
A member of Jersey Baptist Church, he loved being with people and making them smile, often heard saying "I'm glad you got to see me!"
Jim also loved adding to his pig collection.

Jim was beloved husband to the late Susan (Fairchild) Carr for 59 years; Father of Timothy R. (Lora) Carr, Newark, Ohio; Ted J. (Carla) Carr of Gahanna, OH; Grandfather of Lauren (Mike) Seitz and Daniel Carr, Gahanna, and Andrew and Allyson of Newark; and had many nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Betty Stone and Rita Hiles of Portsmouth, Ohio.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Jersey Baptist Church, 13260 Morse Rd. SW, Pataskala, OH 43062, and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Mifflin Cemetery.
