Surnames: Meyer, Schmitz, Bartzen
Hello,
I am searching for the following early immigrants to farms near "Freemont/Ohio" and "6 miles away from old
Sandusky"(1850). The families immigrated 1847-1848 and settled first near "Lower-Sandusky". Some worked in
Sandusky (the Schmitz brothers.
Their names are:
1.Eva Schmitz, nee Bartzen, died in Sandusky 08.09.1848 and was buried in a non catholic cemetary there.
2.Her brother Bartzen, died there in September 1848, too
3. her children: Johann (=John) Schmitz, born 04.08.1825
Anton Schmitz, born 25.01.1828
and her child
Elisabeth Schmitz, born 14.11.1823, she married to
Johann (John) Meyer, born 05.12.1811.
They had the following children:
Anna Meyer, born 28.01.1843
Eva Meyer, born 25.07.1844
Maria Meyer, born 01.10.1846
ALL THESE PEOPLE WHERE BORN IN GERMANY (Prussia). They emigrated from there in 1847/1848
and settled down near Sandusky/OHIO. I know that the Meyer family had a 180-Acres farm 6 miles from old
Sandusky-city.
Who can help me to find more abouut them ? I do live in Germany and do have no contacts to this region in the
USA.
sincerely
Werner Lichter
