CHILLICOTHE: Dorothy Mae Howard, 85, of Chillicothe, Ohio, formerly of Richmond Dale, quietly slipped away from her family and friends on December 15, 2014, at National Church Residences-Chillicothe.
She was born May 29, 1929 in Ross County, Ohio to the late Bryan W. and Ethel M. Moats Stoneburner.
She resided in Richmond Dale for most of her life.
In 2012, she moved to Hopeton Village in Chillicothe with her husband of 64 years, Raymond P. Howard, who died September 7, 2013.
Dorothy is survived by sons, Dennis Eugene (Roxanne) Howard, Paul Edward (Teena) Howard and Thomas Elvie (Betty) Howard, all of Chillicothe; a daughter, Sharon Elaine (Boyd) Smith, Albuquerque, NM; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Howard; brother, Roy (Faye) Stoneburner, of Tacoma, WA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her oldest son, Ernest Ray Howard; and a brother, Leonard Stoneburner.
Dorothy was employed by Thrift Drug Store for 20 years.
She attended Richmond Dale Church of God and was a den mother for Troop 35 for 10 years. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff and residents at Hopeton Village for their love and compassion toward Raymond and Dorothy.
Special thanks to the caring staff at Traditions of Chillicothe, and to Pastor John Evans for officiating her service.
She was a very kind and sweet lady who will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the HALLER FUNERAL HOME.
Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale.
