Rosanna Moore, 87 of Alexandria, OHIO passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011.

Rosanna was born on March 29, 1924 in Chillicothe, OHIO (Ross County) to the late John and Ester (Palmer) Moore.

Rosanna graduated from Kirkersville High School in 1942 and Bachelor of Science in Education (with distinction) from The Ohio State University, Denison University, the University of Colorado and Iowa State Teachers College. Rosanna obtained her Masters Degree from Ohio University.

Rosanna taught in Akron, Alexandria, Pataskala and Watkins Memorial Junior and Senior High Schools, all in Ohio.

Rosanna started the art program in Southwest Licking Schools in 1961. She helped develop Forest Rose, the Land Laboratory for Southwest Licking Schools.

She was a life member of the Ohio State University alumni Association, Ohio Education Association and National Education Association and a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, International Society for Women Educators since 1965, Licking County Retired Teachers Association, Licking County Art Association, Zanesville Art Center, The Works, Dawes Arboretum, Licking County Parks, West Licking Historical Society Association, Licking County Historical Association and Granville Historical Association and Land of Legend Woodcarvers.

She was an avid woodcarver/sculptor for over 60 years, was instrumental in organizing the Land of Legend Woodcarvers, won numerous awards at woodcarving shows and art exhibits, have some carvings in the permanent collect of the Zanesville Museum of Art.
She had numerous articles published in national art education magazines, and had photos of three bird carvings on cover of Chip Chats, the magazine of the National Woodcarvers Association.

Rosanna is survived by her two brothers Howard (Phyllis) of Hohenwald, TN, John of Stillwater, OK; sister Eileen (William) Beal of Monticello, IA; 10 nieces and nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents Rosanna is preceded in death by a sister Maribel McLeod.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 3 to 8 PM at Kauber-Sammons Funeral, 289 South Main St., Pataskala, OHIO.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Pataskala Cemetery, Pataskala, OH with a Celebration of Life at Hosanna Lutheran Church to follow at 11am, with a meal to follow at the church.



The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in loving memory of Rosanna to West Licking Historical Society, P.O. Box 1025, Pataskala, Ohio 43062 or to the Hosanna Lutheran Church, 7714 Hazelton-Etna Rd., Pataskala, Ohio 43062.
