if there is no s- then it is grove. if there is an s- its graves. that is what the lady at vital stistic said was a good rule to go by. sorry, but i know of up to 4 JP's in 1 twp at a time. how ever, there is a listing for a Graves as postmaster in Richmond Dale, Ohio. for the 1800's. letha

I have a Bible Record of Conrad and Anna Mary Griesheimer.

Perhaps you can help me with my Ross County Grove Family.
There was a John Greave/Grove/Grave in RichmondDale in Jefferson Twp. In 1812 who was JP and performed marriages in 1806-7-8-10. He was appointed Postmaster there in 1814 -1819. I am quite confused over the spelling of his name. It appears that all three spellings are of the same man. Also on the Census' I note that one Census year spells Grove and the next Census Year spells Grave. Which spelling do I go with? Do you know how many JP's were appointed for one Twp? To make matters worse, there is also another John Grave in the same Twp. Thanks for any help you can render. Carlie
