I’m not related to any member of this family.

OH Vital Records -
Prior to September 7, 1949, marriages were record at the county probate courts as each county was formed. At that time, an index of all Ohio marriages was not maintained. It was not until 1949, that a statewide index of marriages that occurred in Ohio was created at the state level with the Ohio Department of Health, Office of Vital Statistics. While the state Office of Vital Statistics maintains indexes of all marriages, the county probate courts where the married couples applied for their license is where the official marriage certificate resides.

Ohio law established the Bureau of Vital Statistics on December 20, 1908.
I am trying to locate the history of John Hughes born 20 Dec 1820 Wales and died in Putham County Ohio on 223 Dec 1932 Death records show he is the son of Hugh Hughes of South and his wife was Sarah Spellman.
I think he is the John who is brother to Margaret A Hughes born 11 February 1861 South Wales and came to Ohio when She was baby. Their mother died shortly after that arrival...in Sandusky Ohio..If it is the same John then their father died about 11 years later...and John had already left home...and may have been married by then.
There was also an Evan found in Sandusky Ohio that may be this John's brother . The family was Hugh and Catherine Hughs in 1870 census. If anyone has information on how to get in contact with this John Hughes family to confirm the lineage, please help. Thank you.

Does anyone have any information on a Fredrick Brinkman from Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio. Our greatgrandmother, Minnie (Robinson)Lafever was listed in his household on the 1870 census. Minnie later had a son named Robert(born Jan 14, 1886). She was unmarried and we don't know who the father was. Minnie is listed on the 1900 census with her husband(William Lafever) but not her son. A Robert Conn (same birthdate as Minnie's son) is listed on the 1900 census as a boarder in the home of Fredrick Brinkman (same household Minnie was in on the 1870 census). Fredrick had a daughter Saluda and a son George. Any info on Fredrick Brinkman, Robert Conn, Miller City hotel name, Saluda Brinkman or an Allen Conn (possibly Robert's father) would be greatly appreciated. We think there is a possible connection and that Robert may be Minnie's son.

A William Lafever was born on Jan1, 1863 to William Lafever and Sarah A (Bird) Lafever. He is listed on the 1870 census in Putnam County with a brother John (b. 1858). William Lafever married our grandmother, Minnie (Robinson) Lafever in Miller City, Putnam County, Ohio in 1896. William died in 1919. They had no children that we are aware of. Minnie did have a son in 1886 named Robert. We are not sure who the father was (we know it was not William Lafever) but he went by Robinson in later years. William and Minnie ran the only hotel in Miller City. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a descendant of Ludwig Recker (1805-1885) & Elisabeth Weghman (1811-1884). Both born in Hannover, Germany. Married in Putnam County, OH and movied to Dubuque County, IA after their fifth child Frank was born. They had four more children after that.

In our family there has been a story that Ludwig came to America illegally and his family didn't know where he was for a time. I would like to verify if this story has any validation to it or if it is just that, "a story."

Also, I think I found the passenger list for the Ship Pennsylvania in 1838 that Ludwig's brother Gerhard and family and parents came over on. However, the last name is spelled Radeker. Everything else from names to ages fit the family. Is this correct? Was the last name once Radeker?

Any help with my questions or just information on anyone in the family is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Paula Cary

I'm looking for Joseph Heaton and his wife Sarah Rebecca Runyan, who would have died sometime after 1910. They lived in Ottawa and Leipsic. Their daughter-in-law is Eliza Schoonover Heaton who is buried at Blanchard Cemetery in Leipsic. Any other old time Heatons or Runyans in Putnam County would be great. There was a James Heaton who first surveyed what is now the Leipsic area in 1821, and a Samuel Runyan who was one of the first white settlers of Ottawa, I'm sure both are the right family but have no proof or even evidence except they're the only candidates.

Along those lines, I'm looking for solid information on the date of the death of Sarah Ann Runyan Green who supposedly died Sept 2?, 1863. Sarah married Isaac Green in Putnam Co, in 1854. Isaac Green supposedly died in both 1863 and 1893, so that's kind of a problem too. The 1893 date should have resulted in his being buried in Findley.

These are longstanding brick walls, before I started looking a few years ago, someone else looked for 30 years. She started this thread 12 years ago, I think it's time to get this case closed and find these wonderful folks so they can be properly memorialized.

Thanks!

Scott Robertson

I am looking for any information about Robert Alfred Robinson born Jan 14, 1886 to J M Robinson and Minnie Bordner Robinson in Miller City, Ohio. He was an engineer on the Nickel Plate for 30 years and was killed in Findlay, Ohio on Aug 21, 1933 when he fell while "going over the top" of Train #63 of which he was the engineer. He was married to Clara Katherine Askam from Leipsic, Ohio. They lived in Bellevue, Ohio. When Clara was widowed, she remarried Floyd B. Weigel in 1934. Thank you for ANY information on Robert--he was our grandfather!!!
