ATHENS: Kathryn (Katie) Irene (Scott) Sullivan, 81, of Athens Ohio crossed over on August 22, 2014 at the Laurels of Athens.

She was born August 13, 1933 in Omega Ohio (Pike County) to Sylvester and Marie (Stanley) Scott.

Katie grew up in Chillicothe Ohio and graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1952.

She moved to Southern California in 1956, married and had three children.

After a solo trip to Europe in 1981 she returned and stated that she was moving "home" to Chillicothe, Ohio to open a Bed & Breakfast.
She operated Chillicothe Bed and Breakfast at 202 S Paint Street for 20 years.
She also worked for The Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Bed & Breakfast was sometimes used as a safe house for women and children during that time.

Katie married John James "Jack" Sullivan in 1984.
During their 30 years together, they enjoyed running the B & B, attending plays, hosting parties for family and friends, and traveling domestically and abroad.
Katie loved all things English.

Katie was an avid reader, NPR listener, PBS watcher, cook, thrift store shopper, gardener and seamstress. She loved shopping and lunches with her sister Pat,

Katie was involved in The League of Women Voters and various book clubs but her first love was the theatre. She became involved with Chillicothe Civic Theater and became indispensible in wardrobe department. She was an amazing seamstress and if you saw the play "The Importance of Being Earnest" among others, you know the extent of her incredible talent.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Claudia Mallison; sister, Julia Hansgen; brother, Arlie Scott; and brother in law, Robert (Bob) Placier.

Katie is survived by her loving husband, Jack Sullivan; son, Stanley (Staci) Mallison; daughter, Jan Spring; sister, Patricia Placier; daughter in law, Kathleen (James) Baumgartner; sister in law, Lucy Sullivan; and many grandchildren.

A special thank you to the Laurels of Athens whose excellent staff provided care in her final five months on Earth and eternal gratitude to aides Melissa and Bobby Jo for their love and attention during that time.

Katie donated her remains to the Ohio University Donor program and a memorial will be held at a later time.

A gathering of friends will be at Schlegel's Coffee House, 80 N Paint St, Chillicothe, OH on Saturday August 30th from 1-4 pm to honor and to remember Katie's life.

Memorial donations appreciated to any local charities that you know were dear to Katie's heart.
