Virginia Fern "Toots" Hougland

PEEBLES: Virginia Fern Hougland, 88, known to many as Toots or Tootsie", of Grassy Fork Road, Peebles, Ohio, left this world at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday June 4, 2014 at the Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon, Ohio.

She was born January 14, 1926 in Pike County, Ohio, to the late Oscar Clayton and Callie (Taylor) Hougland.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Forest, Beryl, Harold and Kenneth Hougland; one sister, Dorothy (Hougland) Legg; and four infant siblings.

Being disabled all her life, she always lived with family members as caregivers. After the death of her sister in the 90's, she was able to stay in her same home and under the care of her great nephew, Steve Satterfield.

God made "Toots" very special and watched over her through all her years. To know her was to love her. She will be sadly missed by all, but has left lasting memories for all of us.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday June 7, 2014 at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Matthew Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday.
