More info on the Allen Pettit I am seeking info on:

Allen was born, likely in Aug. 1804, Ohio
His death date may be before 1850.

Allen's parents were John Pettit, b. 1773, NJ - son of William Pettit and Beulah Mearsnears
and
Sarah Morris b. 1783

Allen's children include:
Michael ?S?, b ca 1822, OH
James D., b ca 1831, OH
Elizabeth, b ca 1830, OH - m. Charles Troutman
William, b ca 1836, OH

Allen's father, John's estate was probated ca 1860 and it notes Allen is dead and Michael, James, Elizabeth and William are all living in Indiana.

In fact, I found Michael, Elizabeth and William in Cass County, IN in the 1850 census, but not in the same home.

Elizabeth is married to Charles Troutman and William is living in her household.

Conflicting information: Michael S. Pettit, who fought in the Mexican War, listed his father's birthplace as France in some of the later census entries for him. It is possible the respondent misunderstood the question to mean what was his father's heritage, rather than where he was born.

I am looking for death, probate and land records for Allen. Allen was in Morgan and Pike counties, OH. It is possible he moved to Indiana prior to his death, but I have no evidence to support that.

I am also looking for solid evidence to tie him to the families I found in IN, who I believe are his children.

Allen and Betsy may have also had a son named David, but I didn't find him listed in John's probate information.
