LIMA: George H. Elliot 77, of Lima, Ohio formerly of Bainbridge died 1 am Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 at his residence.
He was born June 14, 1935 in Pike County, Ohio to Clark and Louie Ethel Elliott who preceded him in death.
On Aug. 1, 1969 he married Mary (Gossett) Holliday who died on March 10, 2009.
Mr. Elliott retired from the railroad after 41 years.
He greatly enjoyed his work and loved talking about trains. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting, canning and gardening in his free time. Mr. Elliott also enjoyed sitting on the front porch smoking his cigars and drinking coffee while spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving children included two daughters, Mary Linda (John) Hoffman of Indiana, Teresa Helmandollar of Piawa; two sons, John (Lou Ann) Holliday of Minnesota and James (Sylvia) Holliday of Lima, Ohio; several grandchildren; and great grandchildren; sisters, Dora Wheaton, Betty Potts and Dorothy Raypole; a brother, Jim Elliott.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, France Kelly; a grandson, James Scott Holliday; three brothers, Clyde Elliott, Junior Elliott and Norva Eugene Elliott; two sisters, Mary Newman and Maxine Smith.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home of Bainbridge, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery. (Ross County)
