Cathy, What I know for sure is my great grandmother name and her sisters names. When my Elizabeth Amerine was born and died. My mother thought even this information was a treasure, since we did not know any thing about her.
On RootsWeb I did find a distant cousin from my Aunt Lena's line (Elizabeth's daughter). I was never able to make contact as it was a old post and the e-mail address I guess had changed. Her name was Eunice Gregory and she was corresponding with Ralph Weiss. Eunice's information was the same as mine when Elizabeth was born and died. and the sisters names. She also mentioned a brother Andrew? which with Laura's research has to be a step brother. Eunice wrote Elizabeth's father was Jonathan Amerine born about 1847 in TN and died Sep. 26, 1859, his father was George Amerine born about 1783 in PA. George married a Hulda who was born about 1801 in TN.
Laura is pretty sure the Jonathan that is my Elizabeth's father was born 1793 and died in 1859 in Boone Co., MO. He married a Temperance Harris, then a widow Sarah Neely. Sarah would be Elizabeth's mother I think.
I will look up the leads Laura gave me.
I want to thank you both, Cathy and Laura for all of your help! It will be interesting to find which line is mine.

Hi Linda and Cathy,

The State Historical Society of Missouri's Newspaper Collection has several entries for Jonathan Amerine. Here is the website:
http://shs.umsystem.edu/index.shtml
Click on "Collections & Research" then go to "Newspaper Collection". Under "Research" click on "Index to selected Missouri Newspapers, 1808-1929", then click on "search" collection. Enter "Amerine" and click search, you will get 5 records for Jonathan. Search again using "Emerine", you will get 10 records for Jonathan (Sallie, wife; M.J. et al-I think M.J. might be Martha). There are other records for people not related- Emerine being the first name of a female.

You can order copies of these newspaper clippings, not sure how much information would actually be in them. The online index at least gives you the dates and lets you see what kind of court case is being announced in the newspaper. You can use this info to narrow down a search for Jonathan's will, probate files, etc.

Missouri State Archives has wills, probate and land records on microfilm for Boone Co, MO. The archives is located in Jefferson Co, MO. Here is their website:
http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/county/croll.asp
Click on "Boone Co" for a listing of their holdings. It looks like you would have to go and do your own research. I'm not sure. You might want to call and see what your options are.

Have fun -- looks like there's a lot of information out there waiting to be uncovered!

Laura Amerine Kenney
(My line is Frederick Amerine (m. Catherine Wertz) brother of George Amerine (m. Christina unknown)- your probable line.

Laura, This is awesome!!! I am just over joyed with all of this information and your help!!!
The cousin had found a Andrew Neely written down some where as a brother, but we did not have any thing else to go on, no one had heard of him.
We were missing Elizabeth's mother's name, so we were not sure which line to follow.
Again I can not thank you enough!! You are very gracious to help me.
The photo of the three sisters hung in my mother's hall way and I would always wonder about Elizabeth, I think my mother looked a lot like her.
Now I know which line to follow thanks to you.
Linda

Hi Linda,

I'm pretty sure your Jonathan Amerine (Emerine) is the one born abt 1783 (not 1847). He is found in 1850 census living in Boone Co, MO listed as born in TN. He was in Madison Co, KY as early as 1812, along with a George and Abraham Amerine. Jonathan and George are on a War of 1812 roster for Madison Co, KY. Jonathan is found in Madison Co, Ky 1820 & 1830 census. Then by 1840 he is in Boone Co, MO. I have found land transactions for him in Madison Co, KY (1817) and Overton Co, TN (1821). Abraham Amerine got married in Madison Co, KY in 1822, and another marriage is found in 1852 Jackson Co, MO. Jonathan Amerine was married to Temperance Harris in Madison, KY abt 1818. Temperance died in Missouri bet. 1850-1852. Jonathan then married a widow, Sarah Neely (possible maiden name Rollins). Jonathan died in 1859, his family is found in 1860 census Boone Co, MO - Sarah Amarin with her children including your Elizabeth 8 yrs old born in MO. Sarah died before 1870 and Elizabeth (Lizzie), Christina, and Martha are found in Boone Co, MO living with three different families.

The above Jonathan and Abraham are not mentioned in the Amerine Book. Several clues point to them being sons of George Amerine Sr born 1760 in PA, died bet.1830-1840 in TN and married to Christina unknown.

I hope this helps give you a start on where to search for more information. There is a "John Tate Amerine" born 1780 in PA, also in Madison Co, KY at the same time as Jonathan, George, and Abraham. He's not in the Book either. I'm not sure if he is also a son of George Sr, but he is definitely related!!!

Laura

My distant cousin is pretty sure this is our line. My family never knew that much about our Elizabeth Amerine. She died when my grand father Joseph Sherman Clark was about 3 years old and his sister my great aunt Lena Elizabeth Clark was 3 months.
Their father William P. Clark remarried then left for Washington to work and never came back. He started a new family and left Elizabeth's children for their step mom to raise.
So any information is greatly appreciated! I thank you for your help and time.
Here is my e-mail address lindagknick@att.net contact me and I will send you my address.

This book shows Jonathon b. 1843 Blount Co., TN m. Jane Russell 9/23/1866. Nothing about their descendants.

There is info about George and Hulda and George's parents. If you're sure about Jonathon being your ancestor, I could copy pages and mail them to you.

The book was written by Wesley W. and Velma (Amerine) Winn of Modesto, CA and printed in 1991. I don't know if it is still in print or where you might find it. The Allen County Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana may have it.

It starts with John Henry Amerine immigrating from Switzerland to Beford Co., PA and has his parents and wife Sarah Picony. His will is also copied. Children listed are George, Abraham, Frederick, Phillip, Henry, and Mary. George married Christina about 1782-1783. Their children are Henry, George, and Isham. This George married Hulda Crowson. They had a son named Jonathon who married Jane Russell and had 2 children - William and Jane.

There is another Jonathon b. 1944 who married a Barbara Sutton, but no Clarks listed. What dates?

My grand parents are Frederick and Eliza Meitza buried in Bethlehem Cemetery in Trail Run, Ohio. Unfortunately I have little history for my fathers side of the family. The name was changed to Meitzer in the early 1900's. My father would be 111 years old today. His name is William. Would love to hear from you.
 Thank you for your interest.
The McDermitt Family in 1900 is living in Coal Township Perry County ,Ohio. in the census he is listed as"Charley" But, the ages are correct for the family and, I am reasonably sure it is them. But what I should have written is living 2 families away is Katharine Clancey ,widow.
It seems the Clancey and McDermitt families were close after Annie Clancey and Charles McDermitt were married in 1898 at the New Straitsville Church.
Actually I am searching for a death notice for
Annie (Clancey) McDermitt's father Patrick Clancey born in Ireland 1836 +- 1.

Robert W. Rousculp

PERRY COUNTY: Robert W. "Bikin' Bob" Rousculp left this world the way he entered it: at home, with family. He died March 19, 2013, having lived a rich, rewarding life.

Born in 1933 to his farming parents, Wayne and Harriet nee Gilmore Rousculp near Somerset, Ohio.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Perry County, Ohio and a 1951 graduate of Somerset High School.

In keeping with his rural roots, he was a 4-H advisor for the Glenford Harvesters for many years, and he worked with the Licking County Extension Office pest and weed management program after retiring from Rockwell in Newark, Ohio.

Many visitors to the Ohio State Fair rode his tractor-driven shuttle from the parking lot or around the fairgrounds. Bob was a member of the United Auto Workers Union/Rockwell Retirees, Columbus Outdoor Pursuits, Licking County Bicycle Club, and American Red Cross as a multi-gallon donor.
He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glenford, Ohio, and during winter, a regular attendee of Bethel Lutheran in Lyford, Texas. He became a "Winter Texan" after retirement, and developed many dear friends in the Rio Grande Valley. It was there that his love of bicycling grew.

Cycling became a passion in his life; it took him from "coast-to-coast" at age 61, as well as through the Canadian Rockies, Glacier National Park, along the Pacific Coast, throughout the Midwest, along the Natchez Trace, and many points between.

Bob was a regular participant in the Tour of the Scioto River Valley (TOSRV), the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure (GOBA), Hilly Hundred, the Iowa RAGBRAI, and other multi-day rides.
As much as he loved biking, he loved his family more. He was truly a man ahead of his time, as he often had to be a mom and a dad when his children were young. His sacrifices and hard work were never forgotten.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother Forrest "Russ" Rousculp; wife Donna nee Theisen Rousculp; and grandson Aaron Hodges.

Left to mourn his passing as well as celebrate his life are his second wife of 32 years Karen nee Klingler (Boyer) Rousculp; son Gene (Melissa) Rousculp; daughters Jackie (David) Lann, Geri (Teri Wehausen) Rousculp, and Jenny (fiancée Scott Miller) Rousculp; grandchildren Andy, Alex, and Amy Hodges, Megan, Hannah, and Tori Rousculp, Chris Gosh, and three great grandchildren; stepson Mike (Kathy) Boyer and stepdaughter Sandy Glorioso; sister-in-law Ginny Rousculp; and dear friend Dave Ridenour.

Bob will be greatly missed by his many relatives, friends, and fellow parishoners at St. Paul's and Bethel Lutheran churches, residents of Eastgate Park in Harlingen, Texas, Greenbay South Community in LaFeria, Texas, and many others who were fortunate to call him friend.

Special thanks to the staff at Springfield Community Mercy Hospital and Community Mercy Hospice.

At the family's request, cremation will be conducted by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. 1002 E High St Springfield, OH 45505

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute to a cause supported by Bob can send donations to either the Hocking-Athens-Perry Community Action, PO Box 220, Glouster, OHIO 45732 or The Carter Center, 453 Freedom Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30307 (http://www.carter center.org).

A Celebration of Life! will be held on Saturday April 27th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glenford, Ohio to Bob, As he makes his final ride, we can hear him whisper, "On your left."

Published in the Times Recorder on March 21, 2013
