MARION: Betty Jane Saffell, age 89, of Marion, Ohio passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012.

She was born April 18, 1923 in Crooksville, Ohio (Perry County) to the late Ralph W. and Estella Jane (Jenkins) Hearing.

On May 23, 1942 in New Lexington, Ohio she married Charles R. Saffell, he preceded her in death on September 19, 1989.

Betty Jane was employed for many years in sales at J.C. Penney, was a member of Prospect Street United Methodist Church and in her spare time she enjoyed reading a good book, crocheting and knitting.

She is survived by two daughters, Natalie "Nikki" (Eddie) Williams of Meeker, OH., Melodye "Susie" (Al) Gamble of Columbus, OHIO; six grandchildren, Christopher, Lori, Brent, Heidi, Ian, Tara; ten great grandchildren, Nicholaus, Lindsay, Austin, Brandon, Breanna, Faith, Camden, Tony, Caleb, Caleigh; two step grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.

Betty Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Estella Hearing; her husband, Charles Saffell; a son, James E. Saffell; and a grandson, Scott Jeffrey Saffell.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 1:30 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Nancy Goulet officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 5 - 7 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice in care of the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
