I have just finished my overhaul of the Paulding County Schools page on my website.

http://www.oldohioschools.com/paulding_county.htm

I am still missing quite a few pictures of some of the old schools as well as some dates and locations. Please check out the new page and let me know what you think or if you can help with any other information. It now loads much faster and is more user-friendly for people wanting to only view a certain county.

I am having a very difficult time finding information on my Ohio relatives. I am looking for Andrew Jackson (also known as A.J. Foreman) and his father Benjamin Frank Foreman. Andrew Jackson was born about 1830. He reports in the 1880 census (spelling Foorman) that his father was born in Maryland and his Mom was born in Virginia. My Great Grandfather Benjamin Frank was born around 1858 in Ohio. I believe it was Payne, Ohio. I would really love to know where these men were buried and more importantly the father and mother of Andrew Jackson Foreman

Perhaps I have just discovered one too many ancestral dramatic tales, and now I'm starting to imagine them in my own mind.

my great-great grandfather was Charles Blaine, son of Elem of Delaware Co., and then Paulding Co.

His daughter, Goldie, on her birth record from Paulding Co., states her mother's name was Anna Bell Linnabarry.

However, I can't find a marriage record for Charles and Anna Linnabarry.

What I do find is a marriage record for 1882 for a Charles Blaine and Anna Stanley.

On Family Search I see a John Stanley who married an Anna B. Linnabarry (or some variation of the last name) in Delaware Co., 1876.

If, per chance, this John Stanley died early on in their marriage - that would mean she, now Anna Stanley, could've in fact married Charles Blaine in 1882.

Then in Delaware Co. cemetery records I can find a John Stanley who died in 1881, which just helps substantiate my theory.

My paternal side I have been able to trace back 12 generations or more...why must my maternal side be so difficult!

If anyone knows any of these names or their families, please reply or email direct at pcditkowski@verizon.net .

Hello,
My nameis Laura L. Alexander Gomoll. I am looking for information on my Thomas family line in Pauling County Ohio. My grandmother was Ruth Lavern Burns her mother had the last name of Thomas, I believe her first name was Ida, I am not sure. I was told that Ruth was born in Grover Hill, Ohio. I was also told that Ida was actually an Indian who was brought to live with the Thomas family. I am thinking if this is so that it probably was Ida's mother not Ida who was the Indian to live with the Thomas family. I am also told that there is a family reunion every year in Grover Hill the last week end of July every year.
I was hoping you may be able to help me with my family information. My grandma Ruth married Frank Gorney and they had 13 children. My mom was #9 Elizabeth Ruth Gorney. I am her oldest child.
Thank you
Laura

Is she buried by Richard? For that matter, I am making an assumption that he is buried in the county he died in. Any help would be appreciated. Mary Ann was born abt 1820 and Richard is her third husband.

Hello everyone! I am looking for some help on Thomas J. Essex and Catherine Bennett family. Thomas was born around 1857 and died on 18 Sep 1928 (Ohio Death Index). He married Catherine Bennett on 3 Mar 1883 (Ohio Marriages, 1803-1900). She was the daughter of William T. Bennett and Mary S. Cummings. I have seen where she died in 1948 but have not found proof of this.

They were the parents of 9 children:
1.	Belva b. Sep 1884
2.	Verda b. Dec 1886
3.	Benjamin b. 12 May 1889 (Draft Card)
4.	Reed Thomas or Thomas Reed b. 7 Aug 1892 (Draft Card) and d. 25 Oct 1974 (Ohio Death Index)
5.	John William b. 27 Jan 1895 (Draft Card) and d. 11 Nov 1918 (info found on Paulding County, Ohio Rootsweb page)
6.	Howard T. b. 30 Dec 1897 (Draft Card and SSDI) and d. 12 Dec 1981 in Eaton, Preble, Ohio
7.	Carl R. b. 26 Feb 1900 (Draft Card) and died 5 May 1971 (Ohio Death Index)
8.	Harl D. b. 26 Feb 1900 (Draft Card)
9.	Elmer S. b. around 1909 and d. 5 Mar 1917 in Paulding (Ohio Death Index)

Misc. Info:

1.	Belva-- I have seen a researcher have her death date as 1952 but there is no source given or place given. Not sure if she married or not.
2.	Verda- The same researcher has given her death date and place as 3 Jan 1971 in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana and buried 6 Jan 1971 in Live Oak Cemetery in Paulding County, Ohio. I have requested an obit but again not sure if she got married so not sure if lookup volunteer can find an obit.
3.	Benjamin- According to census records he was married to Gertrude Eva ? (last name unknown). He was living up in Massachusetts in the 1920 census and in Pennsylvania in the 1930 census. The fellow researcher has his death date as 22 Nov 1964 but no place or source is given.
4.	Reed- Married to a Jean (last name unknown).
5.	John W. - Killed in the service on 11 Nov 1918. He enlisted on 22 Jul 1918.
6.	Howard T…. he was living with a brother in the 1930 census. Not sure if he ever married. He enlisted in the service on 2 Oct 1918 and honorable discharge on 13 Dec 1918. He graduated high school in 1916 from Paulding High School. (Information found on Paulding County, Ohio rootsweb site)
7. Carl was married to Loullie (last name unknown and name is spelled as it was on the census record). I have requested an obit so hopefully someone can help me. Carl graduated high school in 1918 from Paulding High School. According to his draft card, Carl was a school teacher.
8. Harl D. was twin of Carl. He was married to an Iva C. (last name unknown). I have seen a death date as 9 Jul 1930 but also found on the Allen County, Indiana that his obituary date was 9 Jul 1930 so maybe that was an evening paper and he died early morning on the 9th? Need to see if I can find a volunteer to get the obit. Harl also graduated in 1918 from Paulding high school. According to his draft card, Harl was a school teacher.
9. I really known nothing about Elmer. I do know that he was 9 months old in the 1910 census. I am thinking he was born around Jul 1909. He is buried at Live Oak Cemetery in Paulding County. I am not sure why he died as a child.

I am looking for any confirmed birth dates, death dates, marriages, burials etc that anyone can help me with.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Juls
Would anyone know how I can find burial records for Middle Creek Cemetery? I have an Alcinda J.WAMER d.Apr.17,1918 and an Alice Marie WAMER d.Apr.16,1918 according to their marker, located in Middle Creek Cemetery,Grover Hill,Oh. Section 1,Row 17. Unfortunately, death certificates cannot be located in Paulding or Columbus Oh. Sometimes burial records contain cause of death, date of burial, funeral home, and who owned the graves.I wrote to the church located on the grounds, they were very nice, but could not help me.I suspect they died of influenza,as it was sweeping Ohio in 1918. Family legend says 1 year old Alice died after eating a buckeye seed, and mother Alcinda died of a broken heart. Help solve a family mystery.

I think my grandfather Glen August DOAN was born in Dague, Paulding County, OH on 08/26/1900. His parents were Francis Marion DOAN and Rosa May CLINE DOAN. I believe there were more DOAN's in the area, but I don't have any records. I have run into a dead end in OH, but both Francis and Rosa show OH as their birthplace. I hope someone has a line on them. Thanks,

Gary Doan

I do not know why he would of been buried there at all. His second wife and family lived near Cromer, and he was born and lived most of his life in Adams Co., IN until he dv his first wife to marry this lady. So it is a mystry to me why she would pick there to bury him but who knows.
Any leads out there for me?

My grandfather Jay B. ANDERSON was born in Paulding Co., Benton Twp., Sep 13, 1866. He was the son of John Anderson and Mary E. Gifford who were married in Paulding Co., Oct. 5, 1865. John Anderson was the son of James McC. Anderson and Lucinda Hockenbery who moved to Paulding Co. from Wood Co., OH before 1850. James had two sisters Nancy and Emily who both married KILPATRICK brothers. According to a sketch on one of James sons he was born in Butler Co., PA to parents both born in Scotland. One daughter married a SNELLENBERGER and one married a SHILTS. Are there any living descendants of James and Lucinda Anderson still in Paulding Co.? The death certificate I have for James does not list his parents and her death certificate said she was the daughter of William and Catherine Hockenbery. James and Lucinda are both buried in the old section of the Lehman Cem. Benton Twp. Linda Anderson Knapp

I'm still interested in the GLAZE,WAMER,& HOOD families of Paulding Co.,(Grover Hill) in the 1910,1920,& 1930 census. Copy of death certificate for Sarah nee GLAZE Hood, died July 22,1941. She was born 1861 Hocking Co.,Oh. Parents Geo.A.Glaze b.(Wood Co.,W.)Va. & "Ellie" Donaldson b.Oh. Sarah married Benjamin HOOD,1877 Hocking Co.,Oh. These familes have member buried Middle Creek,Grover Hill. Buried at Middle Creek,Alcinda Jane nee GLAZE WAMER d. 1918,Alice Marie WAMER d.1918,Geo.A.GLAZE d.1920,Eleanor L.nee Donaldson GLAZE d.1917,Arehart H.GLAZE d.1915. Looking for obits, wills, land records, tax records. There is a Paulding Co.,genealogy society ,right? I found the people at the court house & record dept.not very helpful. However, the library in Paulding was most helpful. Would REALLY like to locate obits for Alcinda & Alice WAMER since death certs. cannot be located. Their marker state they both died Apr.1918. Since Husband & Father ,RIAS WAMER is indexed on the 1920 Grover Hill,Oh.census as widowed,it's hard to believe there's not even an obit.? The surname WAMER is often indexed as WARNER in Paulding Co.,Oh.

My great Grandmother's first husband was a Julian. I don't know his first name they were possibly married in England and came to America about 1842-1847. They had three children William, Sarah and Emma all were born in Ohio as listed in the census. My ggrandmother's name was Emma Wilson and in 1859 or 1860 she married Thomas Harris in Paulding County and they llived in Crane Twp. I can't find any Julian's in the 1850 census but may have missed it. Interested to know what happened to the Julian children, where this Julian and Emma were marrried and anything pertaining to them.

DEATH RECORD FOR JOSEPH HEATON

I have searched for my great-great grandfather Joseph Heaton and his wife Sarah Rebecca for over 30 years. They resided in Putnam County Ohio, from 1880 till 1910. If a person died in Putnam County Ohio, it had to be at home since there is no hospital in the county. There is no record of his death there, however I found a listing for a Joseph Heaton death record in Paulding County Ohio. He died 28 September 1916.
Vol # 2106 Certificate # 71671. Is there anyone who would go to the department that contains death records and view what this certificate states? I would be grateful for any and all assistance regarding this matter.
Thank you,
Linda

Gattshall Gattschall Gottshall

I am researching the Gattshall (Gattschall)(Gottshall) family. I have some information from family reunions. My branch of the family is:

1. Daniel Gottshall and Hannah Dunkelberger
2. John Gattschall and Louisa Thomas
3. William Gattshall and Sarah Shaw
4. James Garfield Gattshall and Cora Garrison
5. Cecil Gattshall and Stella Frizzell
6. Harold Gattshall and Fraces Jackson
7. Claudia Gattshall
8. Tyler Gattshall

Daniel and Hannah were from Pennsylvania and probably moved to Ohio between 1820 and 1824 to Delaware County (now Morrow) Westfield Township.

Their eldest son John was born there 09/18/1824, his son William may have been born in Franklin county as our family history says he spent 15 years away from Morrow County in Columbus. I know he was back in Morrow County by 1860 as I have found him on the Census from that time and was unable to find him on the 1850 Census along with his mother and father.

William lived in Morrow County first with his parents and then his wife Sarah until at least 1880. I found them in Cardington in the 1880 Census.

The family moved along with some of the Shaws who were related to Williams wife to Paulding County Ohio after that time. I am trying to locate any one researching who might know of additonal family history.

I think that Daniel's father may have been Ludwig Gottshall and mother Barbara Hahn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania because the dates of birth & so forth are very close. Also it appears that the Lancaster Gottshalls knew the Dunkelbergers because they seem to be intermixed in some of the PA church records. I have been unable to positively substantiate that theory yet.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you Claudia

Zurbrugg family in Preble and Paulding Counties

I've limited info on this family and would appreciate lookups from anyone with published books in these counties. Julian Zurbrugg (b. 1830 Bern, Switzerland) immigrated with family in 1872. Found them in the 1880 Preble County census, and the 1900 Paulding County census. Wife Magdelena died 15 March 1889 and buried at Mound Hll Cemetery in Eaton (Preble County). Julian moved with sons John and Frederick to Paulding county and bought 80 acres in section 18, West of Latty. Frederick married first to Caroline Goetz, 2nd to Katherine Merz. I assume Julian died in Paulding County, but haven't been able to locate. By 1910, Son John moved on to Branch County, Michigan. Son Frederick moved on to Stevens County, Washington. Thank you for any help.

Hello,
I'm seeking information about my gg-grandmother Mary Elizabeth Messer b. 5-6-1949 d. 10-23-1944 in Haviland, Ohio. My g-grandmother, Nancy Sluser King, was from a previous marriage.

Is there a listing of this cemetery?

Thank you,
Joann Helton Maybrier
