Mrs. Helen V. Irmscher-Thoma, 93, of Heath, Ohio died at Autumn Health Care Center on Friday, April 4, 2014.

She was born in Noble County, Ohio on October 30, 1920 to the late Andrew and Mary V. (Cepec) Kominar.

She was a graduate of Shaw High School and Wilcox College of Commerce, both located in Cleveland, Ohio. (She lived with her sister and brother-in-law Betty and Steve Salajcik)

Following this time, she joined the US Navy and served as a WAVE during WWII.
She was one of the first people to see crippled ships from Pearl Harbor return to California for repair.

Helen was a parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Levi Phillips Post 85, Newark, Ohio. http://www.post85.com/
She worked for many years as a caregiver and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas Special Parts Operation in 1982.

She also volunteered at the Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, Ohio in her later years.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ronald and Evelyn Irmscher, Mark and Oksook Irmscher, Myra and Bill Sapp and Maureen Kominar; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother Emil Kominar; sister, Wilma Perkins; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert C. Thoma and Roy C. Irmscher; her son, Russell Irmscher; her brothers, Steven Max Kominar, John and Joseph Kominar; and her sisters, Mary Dalrymple, Margaret Billick, and Elizabeth "Betty Salajcik.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church, 57 Dorsey Mill Rd E, Heath, Ohio 43056 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M., Monday, April 7, 2014 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, Ohio.
