Court of said County;
September 23, A.D. 1856:
The last Will and
Testament of Samuel
Carrell, deceased, late of said County, was this day produced in open
Court, and duly proved by the oaths of
Turner O. West and Andrew Ross the attesting and subscribing witnesses therein whose testimony in such behalf was (?) (?) and duly filed. And thereupon it appearing to the satisfaction of the
Court from the said witnesses that the said Will was duly attested and executed, and that the said Testator, Samuel
Carrell, deceased, was at the time of writing and signing the same of full age, of sound mind and memory and free from any restraint. It is ordered that the said last Will and
Testament be and the same is hereby admitted to probate and that the same together with the said testimony and the entry be duly recorded.
Will:
In the name of the Benevolent Father of All: I, Samuel
Carrell, of
Meigs Township,
Muskingum County,
Ohio, do make and publish this my last Will and
Testament.
Item 1st. It is my will that my beloved wife, Mary
Carrell, have the use and privilege to occupy my real estate and wit: the farm on which we now reside, during her natural life, and at her death to be sold, and the proceeds thereof to be equally divided among my children, to wit: Margaret, Mary Jane, Ellen,
Lander, James William and Nancy Ann
Carrell, if at her death the youngest child may be of age, and if not the money to be put on interest until the youngest of my children shall become of age and then divided as above mentioned. It is also my will that my said wife have the use of all my household and (?) from (?) (?) one black mare, the oldest of the two I now own, and one cow and seven sheep during her life and all that may remain uncontested thereof at her death to be sold and the proceeds to be divided as directed above for the proceeds of the real estate.
Item 2nd: It is my will that the balance of my personal property be sold as soon after my decease as convenient, and it is my will that my said wife have one hundred and fifty dollars of the proceeds thereof to help her to support my children to be paid to her by my executor in the manner following, to wit: fifty dollars as soon as it may be collected and fifty dollars in one year from that time and fifty dollars in one year from that time and the balance to be put on interest until my youngest child shall become of age and then to be equally divided among my children as aforesaid.
I do hereby constitute and appoint William T. Mason, executor of this my last Will and
Testament. I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made and acknowledge this as my last Will and
Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of August, D.A. 1856.

Court, reduced to writing and filed and so ordered to be recorded as aforesaid, is now here accordingly recorded as follows, to wit:

Testament of Samuel
Carrell, deceased, late of said County was produced in writing, and
Turner O. West and Andrew Ross, the attesting and subscribing witnesses thereto being duly sworn and examined in open
Court declared that the said Testator, Samuel
Carrell, deceased, was at the time of writing and signing said last Will and
Testament of full age, of sound mind and memory and free from any restraint; that he signed the same in their presence and that they heard him acknowledge said instrument of writing as and for his last Will and
Testament and that they subscribed their names as witnesses therein his presence.
I certify that the foregoing testimony was taken in open
Court, and reduced to writing by me, and taken at the time and place specified.
