The State of
Ohio Muskingum County for
Court of Common
Pleas November Term 1847, to wit: November 20th 1847.
The last will and testament of David
Selix, late of
Muskingum County,
Ohio, deceased, was this day probated in open
Court and duly proved by the oaths of Philip
Howell and Joseph
McLees. The two attesting and subscribe witnesses thereto, whose testimony was reduced to writing and filed, and(unreadable ending) hearing to the
Court from the said testimony that the said David
Selix at the time of executing his said last will and testament, was of full age of sound mind and memory and not under any restraint, it was ordered that his last will and testament be and the same is hereby admitted to probation that the same together with the said testimony so reduced to writing and filed as aforesaid be recorded.

In the name of God, I David
Selix of the township of Bluerock County of Muskingum State of
Ohio do make and publish this my last will and testament.
Item: first I give and devise to by beloved wife in lieu of her dower all my real estate as long as she remains my widow and all the stock household goods furniture provisions and other goods and chattles which may be thereon at the time of my decease during her widowhood as aforesaid she however selling so much as maybe sufficient to pay my just debts at the death or marriage of my said wife The real estate I give and devise to my sons David
Selix and
Patterson Selix and their heirs. I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made.
In testimony whereas I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of October in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven.

Philip
Howell one of the subscribing witnesses being sworn and examined says that he was present at the execution of said will, that he said David
Selix was of full age and of sound mind & memory and not under any restraint, that said will was signed by said David
Selix in his presence and was attested &subscribed by said
Howell in the presence of said David
Selix immediately before the execution of his will on various subjects pertaining to his business & propounded to his various question in all of which conversation he appeared perfectly rational & gave correct anseres to all interrogation, that said David
Selix sent for witness as he was informed for the purposes of having a will made & that witness converesed with him on that subject inall of which he appeared rational & fully competent for that purpose

McLees also a subscribing witness to said will being sworn and examined says that he was present at the execution of said will by the said David
Selix & that the testator at the time of executing the same was of full age and not under any restraint, that from his own knowledge he has no reason to doubt but that the testator was of sound mind and memory but has some doubts from what others have told him that he ad no conversation with the testator at the time of the execution of said will but heard him answer questions asked him by Philip
Howell does not know whether he gave true answers or not as he (witness) was not acquainted with the matters conversed about, if the answers were true he saw nothing about them but what was rational
