I, William Grummon of the Township of Union in the County of Muskingum and State of Ohio, of the age of 57 years, and being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say:
1. I direct my exectrix hereinafter named to pay out of my estate, as soon as possible after my decease all my just debts, together with the expenses of my last sickness and my funeal and testamentary expenses.
2. I give bequeath and devise to my wife Sophia S. Grummon out of my personal effects and real estate the sum of one thousand dollars to be received by her in lieu of dower, and as compensation for personal moneys paid me, and which became part of this my estate, the same to be hers without dictation from me as to how she shall use or dispose of it.
3. I give, bequeath and devise to my wife sophia S. Grummon all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate real and personal of whatever kind and whereever situate to have, hold and enjoy during her natural ife as my widow, and from and immediately after her decease or marriage to another, I give, bequeath and devise all this ret, residue and remainder of my estate to my dear daughter Clara A. Knox and her two children Harold William Stone and Charlotte M. Stone, share and share alike, forever.
4. I desire my wife Sophia S. Grummon to have and possess all rents, profits and gains of my estate, and direct that she expend of such moneys from time to time during her ife, as will keep in good repair, the houses and lands I thus bequeath and devise to her interest for my daughter Clara A. Knox and her two children Harold William Stone and Charlotta M. Stone and that she keep paid up the annual taxes on the same.
5. I suggest and direct for her guidance that my horses, wagons, buggies, sleighs, hearse, harness and such other articles as belong to my stable and stock be sold, if it can be at a fair price, and the proceeds of such sale be applied to the settlement of all my just debts.
6. I advise and request that as part of lot 16 in the Village of New Concord, be sold, separated or divided, if possible to be avoided, but lots No. 10 and 11 in Russells Addition of the Village of New Concord may, at any time be sold and the proceeds may with any surplus of other sales, be applied to the payment of the one thousand dollars bequeathed and devised to my widow Sophia S. Grummon, and if any part of the said one thousand dollars remain unpaid at the death of my widow Sophia S. Grummon, then it shall be paid as she shall direct out of the first proceeds of the sale of my estate.
7. I hereby nominate and appoint my wife Sophia S. Grummon, sole executrix of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at amy time made, to control all personal and real estate, settle and direct all the business pertaining thereto, and that no bond or security be required of her, and that no appraisement of my estate be made.
