OBITUARY REPORT
1880
Prospect-- mourns the loss of two amiable, exemplary, devoted Christians, loved and esteemed by all, viz: SISTERS LIBBY CURREN and MARIA CUSHMAN.
Mt. Gilead has seen two of their number pass away. LAWRENCE KIDWELL, a faithful and worthy member, died, after much suffering, with a full assurance of a better life beyond the grave. J. F. STONE, an aged and consistent Christian, died Sept. 29th, 1880. The Church and community feel that a good man is gone.
Chesterville reports the death of SISTER REBECCA STRUBLE, who died Nov., 1879. Her life was marked by Christian sweetness, which attracted all by its beauty and pureness, and during the whole of her protracted illness Christ's presence sustained her.
1881
Mt. Gilead reports the death of three. SISTER HAND, an aged christian and rich in christian experience, and BRO. GEORGE POWELL, in middle life and in the midst of much christian usefulness. DEA. JOHN SHAW, aged seventy-eight years, was stricken down with out a moments warning and called to the upper sanctuary. Bro. Shaw united with the Baptist Church of Mt. Gilead over twenty years ago, and served the church as deacon about eighteen years. He was senior deacon at the time of his demise.
1889
Chester--we are called upon to record the death of SISTERS ESTHER SMOTHERS, ELLA JINKINS and BROTHER JUDSON SALISBURY. In our sadness we have joy by the evidence left by them that the have joined the Master.
Mt. Gilead--Since our last letter three worthy members have crossed over--DEACON BENJAMIN BUSBY, SISTERS MARY A. STOCK and L. A. MICKEY.
Prospect-- Our dear young sister, MRS. ROSA M. WATKINS sleeps in the cemetary at Radnor. Her spirit has joined the Heavenly Host.
1893
Mt. Gilead--reports four; ELIZABETH DONALDSON, baptized over forty years ago, died Nov. 29, 1892, aged 79 years; ELIZABETH THOMAS died Sept. 15, 1892, aged 91 years, a devoted Christian; ROSETTA PACE died Dec. 30, 1892, was a great sufferer for two years, but enjoyed much favor with God; EDITH EARLY died July 11, 1893, aged 48 years, gone to be with her Savior.
Harmony--reports two; GEORGE WEATHERBY died Jan. 8, 1893, aged 69 years; he was trying to make his last days his best days; JANE BROWN died May 30, 1893; she lived a Christian life and died in the triumph of faith.
Prospect-- reports three; WILL MCPHERSON died March 20, 1893, called home in middle life; BENNY ROBERTS, June 4, 1893 suddenly by drowning; LIDA STONEBAKER, July 1, 1893, in old age like a shock of corn fully ripe.
Chesterville-- reports one; DEACON W. W. NYE, Jan. 15,1893, aged 76 years, a valiant soldier of the cross for a long time.
