I know that Ohio didn't require the registration of births until much later in the 1800s. What I'm trying to find out is whether death records were required in 1844 and, if so, where I might find them. Also, does anyone know whether Montgomery County (specifically Butler township) had any health epidemics/problems in 1844? My g-g-grandparent and two of their children all died within a few days of each other during that year. I suppose it could have been an accident but I feel that it was more likely a medical problem in the area.
Thanks for any insights.
