Hello I Was Wandering If You Could Tell Me How Me How Much Information On Interent And People Website Is Truth Or Not. Several People Are Saying My 2nd Great Grandfather Died At Young Age In Another State. When He Was Still Living And Having Children In The State He Was Born And Where Several Of The Children Was Born . And He Had 9 Children Not Just 1 Child Like Listed . Several Of My Family Has Document On Several Of The Children . And Every Where You Look People Are Just Copying Some One Else Website And Saying My 2nd Great Grandfather Is From This Certain Family. When It Is 100% Wrong. And When You Try To Tell Them The Truth They Said If It Was Not Truth People Would Not Put It On Online Or On There Website. And When You Asked Them About There Website They Said They Did Not Have Document To Prove What My Family Has. So Was Wandering If You Know Why People Put Data On Website And Internet When They Know It Is Not Right Or Any Truth Especially My 2nd Great Grandfather And His 9 Children Not 1 Child As Listed.
William Sivard married Mary Grim,(dau. of Thomas and Eve Bish Grim) on March 14, 1862 in Monroe Co. Ohio. They lived in Monroe and Belmont counties.

I have full information on the Grim side. I am trying to fill in the SIVARD family. A copy of William Sivard's death certificate, was e-mailed to me by a family member. It gives his parents as Robert and Margaret Mobley Sivard. I find Robert in the veterans census of 1890 and the 1900 in Monroe co. married to a Mary. I am trying to figure out if he was married twice or did she go by Mary, or do i have a completely different person from the one I need?

If anyone is working on this particular family and can help with information, would you please contact me direct at patriciagrimm2001@yahoo.com.

I will share what information that I have. Sons were born from 1897 to 1910. Mary was my grandmother. I have searched but have hit a brick wall.
Who was his father and mother?

Spirit of Democracy published Woodsfield, OH
Tuesday, November 20, 1877
A son of Mr. Robert Carpenter, who resides in West Va., was accidentally shot near Calais, this county, on the 15th inst., while handling a revolver. The boy was aged about 10 years. The ball entered on his left side, passed through his stomach and lodged in his liver.
UPDATED: Monroe County Schools

I have just finished my overhaul of the Monroe County Schools page on my website.

http://www.oldohioschools.com/monroe_county.htm

I am still missing quite a few pictures of some of the old schools as well as some dates and locations. Please check out the new page and let me know what you think or if you can help with any other information. It now loads much faster and is more user-friendly for people wanting to only view a certain county.

A History of the Wilson Family

Hello,

My name is Lisa Wilson-Pennington and I have family ties back to Monroe County, Ohio through several families, the Wilsons, the Carmichaels, the Hartshorns, the Howells and the Henthorns just to name a few.

While searching online, I came across a website listing the Resource Room Holdings of the Monroe County District Library. I would love to be able to come and check out all these books but for now I will have to settle with what I can find locally and online.

I am very interested in one book in particular:
"A History of the Wilson Family." [including Hannah - Hupp]. A.Joseph. 1978. 24 pgs. I have had quite a bit of trouble finding anything on the Wilson family in print and wondered if it was possible to get someone who has access to the library to make a copy of this book for me. I would gladly send whatever copy fees are necessary and also money for postage and gas, etc to retrieve this book for me.

Please let me know if someone can help me. I truly would appreciate it!
Hello, Does anyone have information about a Sarah Hobbs who married a David Trembly? They lived in Beallsville, and had a daughter, Georgia, who married George Brautigam in 1903. The name Brautigam is sometimes found as Brantigam, Bridegroom (German translation), and Bridgeman due to transcription errors and a strong German accent. I would like to share info about ancestors and decendants.
Linda

I found a marker in The Mount Cemetery in Marietta, Ohio with the "George Cline Died 1795" on it. It was in an area devoted to Revolutionary War soldiers whose burial sites are unknown. Does anyone know if this is the same George Cline who was married to Susannah Buck who is buried in Jericho Cemetery in Monroe County? Online sources quote his death date as 1801. Thank you.

I am trying to find out more about Rosella Wise (Schwartz). She is buried in the Pioneer cemetery in Woodsfield with her last husband August Wise. I believe this woman was married four separate times. Actually, I am trying to find more information on her first husband, Anthony Paulus. Anthony's son, John A. Paulus (aka Tony), lived on Moose Ridge and his son's had farms there. If anyone has any information on Rosella or Anthony, please let me know. She is a direct ancestor of mine.
Isent this out last week but I haven't seen this posted so I am resending it. If it has already been posted please ignore.

Does anyone have Elizabeth Dye b1848 daughter of Daniel (b1806Va)and Ann(b@1812 Va) linked to anyone? She had a sister Nancy Ellen b@1841 Also Daniel's Sister Abigail was living with them in 1860 census. Daniel and Abigail were two of the children of James(b17 March 1782Va.-25 Mar 1827 Monroe County,Ohio) And Elizabeth Dye Dye)b.18 July 1782Middlesex Co. New Jersey -17 May 1856 Monroe County, Ohio.
I have traced the other 2 Elizabeth Dyes born at about this time to other men and think this is the one who married Thomas Bruce but can not find any proof of it. I know she if she is the one she died between 1910 and 1920.but of yet have not located a death cert. They lived in Monroe, Washington, Counties ,Ohio and Wetzel and Tyler Counties in W.V. They were married 14 March 1870 in Monroe County. One of the reasons I think this is the right one is that she named her daughter Nancy Ellen same as her sister. which was a common practice.
Thanks for any feedback.

Janet
Does anyone know of this family? They had several children that married in this area. Marys mother, Elizabeth Roth, was also enumerated with them in 1880 and I am trying to locate where she may have been buried.

Is there anyone who knows the location of the Barber Ridge Cemetery in Lewisville, Ohio? I believe my great-great-great-grandmother, Elizabeth Kimble Givens, was buried there around 1853. There may be other members of the family there, including her husband, my g-g-g-grandfather, Daniel Givens. Elizabeth was born in Greene County, PA, in July 1786. You may e-mail me at rgivens@ma.rr.com. Thank you. Joan Givens, Fairmont, WV

I am looking for any Matthess/Matthews descendants from Monroe County. I am descended from Nathan Matthess who was born in Ohio October 23, 1832. His parents were Garrett and Susan Matthess. All I know about them is that they were originally from Pennsylvania and that they nine children. Recently I found a land record from Ohio dated 1832, with the following names.
MATTHESS, ABRAHAM
MATTHESS, ISAAC
MATTHESS, JOHN
MATTHESS, JOHN
MATTHEWS, ANDREW
MATTHEWS, GARRET
MATTHEWS, ISAAC

they were listed in that order. i'm hoping i guess that the Matthews is a mispelling of Matthess and that they are related. if anyone has any information please don't hesitate to write!

Michelle

My great grandmother was last found in the 1900 Census. Need a volunteer to do a look up for me.

My ggreat grandmother was last found in the 1900 Green District Census in Wetzel Co., Wv. Her name at the time was Nancy J. Sindledecker. She was a widow , born 1851. She was married 2 times in Monroe Co., Ohio. Her first marriage was Nancy Nixon married John Ensley , on Nov.17,1870. Her second marriage was Nancy J. Ensley married Joseph Sindeldecker on July 13, 1879. Would someone be so kind and look up her marraige records and see who her parents were? Also , I can not find her in the 1910 Census, so I am assuming she died during that time. I would like to know if someone would do a look up and see if her death is listed anyplace in the Monroe Co. records or her husband[Joseph Sindeldecker] death is listed. Many thanks for anyone willing to help me on this.
