I think William's dad was Johnathan (he had 4 wives). but I have no idea what happened to Johnathan and his wives. I think Zorah had a sister Hannah who also married a Ellis. I have a old family photo that has Ellis family written on the back. Curious to know who they all were!
Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.
WALKER

Hi-
Can anyone help with my Walker 'problem'...Alexander Walker was born in VA 1812 (place unknown), father allegedly James Walker who allegedly was in the War of 1812. Alexander shows up in Miami Co. OH marrying Catherine Shepherd in 1833, and in federal censuses for Mercer and Darke Counties OH (same location, boundary changed) in 1840 and 1850.
In 1856 the family moved to St. Clair Co. MO, where I have found quite a lot of info for him and descendants. He died there while probate judge in 1876.

Children of Alexander and Catherine WALKER are:
John N., b. 1834, married Mary Riegel in OH, d. in MO in 1914.
Hannah M., b. 1836, married Henry Denney in OH & died in MO in 1861.
James M., b. 1838, married Elizabeth Conner in MO, died in MO in 1863.
David, b. 1842, married Frances E. Kellerman in MO, died in MO 1917.
Nemiah (or Nehemiah) b. 1844, no marriage found, died in MO 1861
Jeremiah, b. 1848, married Eliza Jane Lee in MO, lived in Pettis Co. MO, died in 1926
Nancy Olive Jane, b. 1851, married John M. Francis in MO, died in 1931 in MO.
Francis G., b. 1857, died before 1870 in MO
Amanda Elizabeth ('Libbie') b. 1859, married Joseph H. Smith in MO, died in 1944 in KS.

Although I find James Walkers in the Mercer/Darke Co. OH censuses I can't tie them together.

Yes, I am trying to get DNA testing lined up but it will take awhile as I must rely on a very distant branch of the family that isn't very keen on the idea, so I keep trying....

Has anyone any Walkers that might be related at all?
Thanks...
Roma Walker Deakin

Has anyone heard of Berlin's Siegallee park

I am looking for information on a park in Germany called Siegellee. There were 32 German statues in this park. It was created by artish Andreas Schluter. The park has a statue of an ancestor of mine named the Mayor of Wilde. He served in Berlin in 1380. His statue was located right next to the statue of King Friederich Wilhelm I in this park. The park no longer exist but the statues do. I do not know were they are located though. If anyone has heard off this park or has any information on the Mayor of Wilde who served in Berlin in 1380, Please let me know. This has been like searching for a needle in a hay stack. My German records on the Wilde family say he was famous. He was not famous enough to have any internet searches bring up his name and I found only one hit on the internet that meantioned the park called Siegellee. It had a picture of a statue of Kaiser Wilhelm and a bust of someone else but that is all I got. That picture was taken in 1905. The Siegellee was located in the park in Berlin called the Tiergarten. Most of the 32 statues were of German princes who played a roll in uniting Prussia. The Mayor of Wilde held an early roll in uniting Prussia. This earned him a statue next to King Friedrick Wilhelm I. The Siegellee must have been destroyed during world war I or world war II. If any one has any information on the sculpter named Andreas Schluter I would also be interested.

Dan Meyer

Seeking information on Alfred Henry Hussey born Feb. 8, 1869, possibly in Mendon, Ohio. His father, Alfred Lee Hussey (1837-1905) was raised in Mendon on the Hussey Homestead owned by father William Hussey (1802-1865). Alfred Lee moved his family around a lot, so I am having a hard time locating the birth records of his children with wife, Martha Jane Riblet Miller. I also need a marriage record for Martha and Alfred Lee ca. 1866. Other children of Martha and Alfred lee include Ulysses Grant Hussey, Abraham Elijah, William Ira, Charles Nelson, and Mary Elizabeth. Anything pertaining to the Hussey family in Mendon is appreciated.

Also, I would like to know if there was a county or state census in between the ten year federal census. I am trying to determine if William Coil and Laney Coil were still married in 1845.

Gary Coil

I've found that Daniel was born about 1866 in Ohio, married Sarah Replogle in 1891. Daniel and Sarah had 2 children. A daughter Ruby who married Ollie Brierly and a son Marion Elsworth King who married Mildred Almonrode.
We're thinking the Elsworth name may be the maiden name of Daniel's mother.

I am looking for information on the Tiesem surname. I have an ancestor who was born in 1807, probably in Germany, whoes maiden name was Elisabeth Tiesem. She married John Henry Brackman. They were probably married in the 1830's. John Henry Brackman is said to have come from the village of Neuenkirchen-Bramsche in the Kingdom of Hanover, just south of the Dutchy of Oldenburg. They had a son in Maria Stein, Ohio in 1845. His name was John Brackman. John was orphaned at the age of 12 in 1857. His parents died of Cholera. If anyone has any information on this family as far as who there brothers and sisters were and were they came from or who there parents and cousins were, please let me know at my e-mail address which is danmeyer399@yahoo.com
Thanks!!

Dan Meyer

Looking for information about a Jane Ellis, born about 1811 in Ohio, who was living in Mercer County from 1850 through 1870. Who was her husband? What was her maiden name? In 1850 she was living in Celina, Mercer County, with daughters Sarah 18, Eliza 11, Margaret 7, and Catherine 4. In 1860 she was living in Jefferson with Henry Myers 26, his wife Anna 21, and baby Mary, 4/12. Daughter Catherine was living next door with the family of Jacob and Caroline Mead. In 1870 Jane was again in Celina with daughters Maggie and Catharine. In 1880 Jane was living with Henry and Anna M. Myers in Hoaglin, Van Wert County, Ohio; in this census she is listed as "mother."

I suspect that the Eliza Ellis in the 1850 census was Eliza H. Ellis who married Aaron Keefer. Aaron and Eliza were living very close to the family of Isaac and Emily Ellis in the 1870 census of Franklin, Mercer County, Ohio.

In 1840 I found only 5 persons surnamed Ellis in Mercer County: Two named John, a Michel, an Oliver, and a William.

Any help appreciated.

Nancy Shire
Caroline Gast Hein

I am looking for any information about Caroline Gast. She was born 29 Jan 1868 in Germany or France (depending on the record I read). By 1880, she is living in Mercer County, but is working as a servant and hence not living with her family. On 12 Jan 1887, she marries Casper Hein. They have 3 children. She dies 21 Sept 1923 in Chickasaw. I am trying to find the names of or any information about her parents. If anyone has any information or even general hints, it would be greatly appreciated!

Karen
Michael also worked for the railroad.
If anyone knows where these records might be kept I would appreciate hearing from you.

Are there marriage records for this period? Who did Harvey marry first ca 1887 and probably in Mercer Co.? Harvey moved to Jay Co., IN where in 1930 he says he was first married 43 years previously; his wife at the time says she was first married 37 years ago in 1893. That 1893 agrees with the 1900 census (Mercer Co.) which showed they'd been married 7 year.

Looking for a connection between Agnes Tepe (b. 1858 - Abt. 1885) married to a Frank Bernard (1847-1915) and Alexander J. Tepe (1877 - Abt. 1959). I believe that Alexander J. Tepe is the son of Alexander Tepe (b. 1855) and Rosa Hanhauser (b. 1858 Ohio). Alexander Tepe is brother to Agnes. I am looking for confirmation that the Alex Tepe with Agnes Bernard in the 1880 census is the Alexander J. Tepe (b. 1877).

Also, any information about why this Alexander Tepe changes his name later in life to Albert Tepe.

Any information about any of the people mentioned here would be of great value.

A cousin of mine has just come across some old pictures and they are not all marked with names. One picture of great interest is of the whole family at the Haslinger family reunion circa 1925. It looks to be John and Elizabeth and all of their children and grandchildren. I don't know who is who with the exception of a handleful of them. My grandmother and her sister are children.
Seeking information about Andrew Jackson Counterman born 1850 in Mercer County, Ohio. A son of Alexander Counterman and Ann Elizabeth Bollenbaugh. He was two years old when his father died and he is mentioned in his father's will, which was in 1852. I have seen no death records, marriage records or cemetery records for him. Surely there could have been some guardianship papers for him?

Hoping someone with access to Mercer County, Ohio information can help with the following:

Death
Harriet Baltzell b. 3 Dec 1843 (probably in Hamilton County, Ohio since she has a sister who died in 1952 in Hamilton County, Ohio). Looking for her death in 1910 probably in Mercer County, Ohio since she is buried there. She married Aaron T. Sutton on 26 May 1866 in Mercer County, Ohio.

Death
(Female) Johnson b. abt 1868, listed in Ohio censuses in Mercer County, Ohio (1880) named Henrietta b 1868. I believe her name was Henrietta, since she married another person I'm looking for: (John) Frank Caldwell on 30 Jan 1885 in Mercer County, Ohio. (John) Frank Caldwell is listed in the 1900 Mercer County census with my great-great-granparents (Isaac and Laura Johnson) as widowed, along with my great-grandmother, Laura Caldwell.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

HI Folks,
I'm looking for information on the family of Andrew Muterspaugh b. about 1784 in PA, died after the 1860 census of Union, Mercer, OH. May have been married twice. First time to Susanah Kressler, daughter of George Kressler and Maria C. Clippenger/Klipenger.
They lived in PA until sometime between 1830 and 1840. First moved to Plain Twp, Wayne, OH. I'm not sure how many children Andrew had, but from census data I have figured there are at least 8.
Any info greatly appreciated! I will share what I have also.
Please reply to cbarber@brockwaytv.com.
Have a great day!
Carol Barber

I have just learned that my great-great-grandparents were John Kilbridge Barr and Matilda Jane Finch. About all I know of them is that they moved to northern Michigan from Ohio — probably the Fort Recovery area. I do know their daughter, Ruth Ann Barr, married Bert Favel in 1900, so John and Matilda would have been born around the middle of the 19th century. Can anyone tell me anything about John and Matilda or anything about their ancestors?

I am trying to fill in my ancestory charts of Bernard Rawers(1833-1919) and Gertrude Uppenkamp Rawers(1840-1930).They are my gr-gr-grandparents. They had four children. Their daughter Gertude Rawers Tekamp(my gr grandmother) was born in 1872 and died in 1917. The family then moved to Dayton. Her brothers were Henry, John and Bernard Rawers. I will be happy to share the Rawers-Tekamp line. I am looking for the brothers dates, their wives and their children.
Thanks!!
Debbie Colson-Mccarthy

I am researching any information having to do with the descendants of John and Susannah (Grossnickle) Custer who settled in Dublin Twp. in 1831. They had 5 children, George, Peter, Christina, John and Joseph. My line falls down from Peter. It goes as follows, Peter, Joseph ( resettled w/ wife Sarah Smith in Liberty twp, Van Wert Co.), James, Albert, Elba, Rolland, Me. We are the last of our line, as neither of my brothers had children of their own. I would like to get all the info I can on John and Susannah's descendants.
Thank you.
