** I am not related.

A family tree at ancestry shows Lottie married to a Seymour Harvey.

LOTTIE NEEDHAM
Birth: Dec 1864 in Ohio
Death: 17 JUL 1948 in Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio
Spouse: Seymour Harvey
Children:
Lawrence Harvey 1882 -
Elizabeth G "Bessie" Harvey 1888 – 1914
Gertrude E Harvey 1891 –

*******************

Is there a possibility that Walsh, Welsh, Welch, etc. could actually be Wash?, short for Washington? I found this family in Meigs Co. in the 1860 census before Elizabeth would have been born.

Source Citation: Year: 1860
Census Place: Salisbury, Meigs, Ohio
Roll: M653_1008; Page: 65A & B; Image: 134;

Name:Washington Nedem
[Washington Needham]
Age in 1860:27
Birth Year:abt 1833
Birthplace:Virginia
Home in 1860:Salisbury, Meigs, Ohio
Race:Black
Gender:Male
Post Office:Pomeroy

N Nedem, 65
Julia Nedem, 59
Washington Nedem, 27
H Anderson, 17
P Williams, 33
Alice M Williams, 7
Elisha R Williams, 1

For some reason, P.
The historical society sounds promising. Do you know if they have a genealogist that I could hire to look up a few deeds in the Meigs County Courthouse?

I wish I could get to Meigs County, but it seems as if it is 4-5 hours from Pittsburgh - so I don't see that happening any time soon....

I so enjoy the shops in Pomeroy. We have family in Middleport...

Gerlach relatives. It is one of our special treats to go to Pomeroy and
sit in a booth at McDonalds and watch the boats go by in the Ohio River.
I have lived in West Virginia -- lots there...My sister and her husband have
taken cemetery photos on both sides of the river and have built a library'
around their ventures. My sister says they have more time than money --
but they have a great time recording what is being lost very fast... Including old barns.

Yes time, weather, and progess is changing the old towns very fast.

Trying to find more info on the Hayes family.
Chandler Hayes married Sarah (?) Brickel.
They had Mordicia in 1860, John abt 1862, Charles
abt 1864 and the only daughter I can find named
Fannie. Unsure of when she was born.

Mordicia could have been known as Alphues. But unsure.
Mordicia married a Ms. Franicis (Frannie) Olive Parsons.

Any help would be great. I am looking for documents since I document everything, but very willing to get any information to help me find what I'm looking for. I have very little on Mordicia's parents and nothing past his parents.

Thanks for your help in advance. >> Anita

Mathias Heitger is my great-great grandfather and I too have been searching for information on him and his wife Barbara. What I've found is that Barbara was born in 1843, arrived in the States in 1847 and married Mathias in 1863. I have lots of residence possibilities after that and recently found one for Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1889 with Barbara as a widow. Not sure if that's the correct lineup or not, but hoping to learn more as I make connections with my past.

The census of Somerset PA doesn't show any Duskey or Dusky. I just read every name beginning with D for 1800 and there's nothing similar. I am wondering if they were known as something different at that time.
Is there any information about whether George Duskey was born in the village of Somerset, the township of Somerset, or the county of Somerset?
I would be very interested in knowing more about
George Duskey's exact birthdate and how it's known Ellen was his sister.

Ya - I was amazed by the consistency between then and now with the street names. Nearly every street in the part of Middleport where my ancestors live is the same today as it was in 1877.

I looked through this map yesterday, and was amazed at the level of detail. My gr-gr-gr-grandfather. John J. Coates, owned lot 8 in the Sheffield section of Middleport in 1867. This map from 1877 clearly shows the lots in the various parts of the town - and seems to reflect the actual County numbering system.

http://gen2go.org/Meigs/index.htm
