I have reached a point on researching the descendents of John Jones and Susannah Wagoner Jones of Pleasant Township that I have pretty much exhausted the usual resources (census, Marion Star, county histories, et. al.). To date, this family tree contains 450 direct descendents of John and Susannah.
My questions are:
1) In the 1820s, there seems to be three concentrations of families named Jones in Marion County - John and Susannah's family having come from what is now Perry County Pennsylvania (spun off from Cumberland County) and settled in Pleasant Township and Waldo Township. There is no intermarriage between this Jones community and the other Jones communities that I can see. Distance might be a factor, but was blood line also a factor - ie, are these groups related by blood?
2) My great great great grandmother Abigail Carpenter marries into the Jones family in Marion County in 1831 to my my 3x great grandfather James Jones (John James Jones, II), but I can not find anything that concretly links her to other Carpenters in the area. The couple does however give my 2XGreat Grandfather the middle name of Carpenter - leading me to believe that Carpenter is in fact her real and true maiden name. Is there any one out there that is reasearching Carpenters and has an Abigail or her sister Harriett?
3) The following surnames interact with this Jones family - do they connect to your lines:
* Myers (Plesant Township)
* Drake (Waldo Township)
* Huggins (Pleasant/Marion Townships)
* Snyder (PLeasant/ Marion Township)
* Sult
* Sorrick
* Irey
* Morganthaler
4) If your lines include a direct descendency, do you have any information on John and Suannah's eldest daughter, Catherine Jane? According to the 1883 county history, she remained behind in Lycoming County Pennsylvania and married into the Sypher family, but I haven't been able to confirm this. I have also heard that her first marriage was into the Yount family. This seems plausible, but again I haven't been able to confirm this with primary source material.
5) Has anyone been able to confirm that Susannah's father, Henry Wagoner in fact served during the Revolutionary War? The DAR in DC has not had that information submitted by an applicant.
As always, any help is appreciated, and information shared with those who take the time to help.
