PLANTATION, FL: Our beloved David Wayne McDuffie Sr., 56, fought to the end before God called him to eternal rest on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
He was surrounded by family and friends in Plantation, Florida.

He was born on November 27, 1958 in Marion, Ohio to the late Homer McDuffie Sr. and Mary Emma Upton-McDuffie.
David is one of 13 children and was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gloria McDuffie and Nicole McDuffie; and brother, Ricky McDuffie.
David graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1977.
After attending the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, he joined the United States Army in 1983 as an enlisted soldier. While in the military, David graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
He was later accepted into the Officer Candidates School in 1990 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry Branch.
He served nine years in the military and received many awards (National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, two Army Good Conduct Medals, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Air Assault Badge).
In 1986, he met and married Chrisanne Cochran in Munich, Germany.
Out of their union were two children; Aisia LaShay and David Wayne Jr.

David was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and American Legion.
David loved his family and spared no expense in showing it.
Nicknamed "Diamond D", he liked the finer things in life. He will be forever remembered sporting his Lincoln Navigator" with "$ Signs" Spinning Wheel Rims.

David is survived by daughter, Aisia LaShay McDuffie, son, David Wayne McDuffie Jr.; and siblings, Minnie Range, Celia Thomas (Columbus, OH.), Cynthia Berry (Woodbridge, VA.), Homer McDuffie (Plantation, FL.), Tara Dyer, Rocky McDuffie, Lisa Cowans (Marshall) (Columbus, OH.), Mary McDuffie, and Mark McDuffie (Andrea);

He leaves to cherish his memory to a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other family members and loving friendships that were established over the years.

Friends may call at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Friday, July 10, 2015, from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM. Bishop Greg Draper will officiate the service with burial to follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
Donations in David's name may be made to The Disabled American Veterans or to Honor Flight, Columbus, Ohio.
The Marion County Veterans Council will provide military rites.

PLANTATION, FL: Gloria McDuffie of Plantation, Florida passed away March 16, 2014 at her son's home surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on March 10, 1954 in Marion, Ohio.
She obtained her undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio.
Her young son, Otis, often attended classes with her there instilling in him early the importance of education.
Her Master's Degree in business was received from the University of Dayton.
While a resident in Marion, Gloria worked at the National City Bank and also worked in a volunteer capacity with many non-profit organizations.
Her dreams of career advancement and better opportunities for her son Otis lead her to Warrensville Heights, Ohio.
There she continued to work at National City Bank until she retired.
After retiring, she moved to Florida and began working with her son Otis, serving as the director of his Catch 81 Foundation.
She was a co-founding member of the Professional Football Players Mothers Association. (PFPMA). As a result of her involvement in the community, Gloria received many awards from numerous other charities.

Gloria started each day with prayer and meditation. Her love for her family and friends was strong. She was the life of every party, and could light up a room with her smile and bouncing step. A special fan of the Miami Heat, she loved roller blading, and line dancing.

She was the cherished and special Mom of O.J.; beloved grandma (GG) of Otis James and Cameron James; and dear sister of Minnie J. Range, Celia R. Thomas, Cynthia Berry, Homer McDuffie, Jr, Tara L. Dyer, David Wayne McDuffie, Rocky A. McDuffie, Lisa R. Bradford, Mary K. Brady, and Mark A. McDuffie (Andrea)
In addition to her aunt Cheree Thomas and uncle James Spiller; she is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Mary Emma McDuffie; her brother Ricky and sister Nicole.

The family has given Boyd's Funeral Home the privilege of taking care of Gloria as she travels to Marion, Ohio to her final resting place.

Funeral services will take place Monday, March 24, 2014 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with a viewing at 12:00 and services beginning at 1:00 pm.

Burial will be at Chapel Heights Memory Garden.

Otis O.J. McDuffie, is a former first team All-American who graduated from Penn State University in 1992. He was then drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the first round where his entire nine-year career began and flourished. “Juice” quickly became Dan Marino’s favorite target and broke multiple receiving records, including leading the NFL in receptions in 1998. McDuffie earned the team MVP honors in 1997 and 1998. His commitment and passion to the South Florida community didn’t end with his contributions on the field. Prior to his retirement in 2001, O.J. contributed much of his time to various charitable causes and continues his dedication to help the area’s youth through his work with the Catch 81 Foundation.
